I encourage you to go all out with this. being able to craft weapons out of parts has incredible potential. but try and make it so you can make custom weapons and not just a base weapon you can buy and find. you know. like the option to have a heavier blade which has certain effects on the weapon, maybe one with a handguard on the hilt that can help with blocking. Maybe an option to have a curved blade, or even a serrated blade. that's what I feel smithing should have been
I realy want to.Only problem is the models nothing else.I can just use placeholders and add every weapon in the game.Even weapons from other mods but you know ^^ Thank you for your support.
This idea is great. I will download this mod once it's a bit more complete and finished. Keep up the good work. You are still working on this mod right?
I actualy want to but cant get my models working soo...Moding part is easy but i cant 3d model so im just waiting.Maybe i can try modelling again but i dont think that ill succed :/
I just coppied the ones from the broken sword so its realy not how a swords made As i said if i had proper meshes or knew how to make them i could make every single vanilla item uniqe.Add them to leveled list give them to npcs and so on.Thank you for your support ^^
This is a nice idea for anyone interested in a more realistic crafting process. You might contact the author of Regent Armory. That mod includes separate meshes for the pommel, crossgaurd, grip, and blade.
Actualy this mod has the same consept as mine but it adds non vanilla weapons.I'll try to contact the autor if i got in trouble. Thanks for the advice ^^
This is silly. You don't forge blade and entire hilt as two separate objects, joined together at the guard. If you do that, sword would break at the first swing. Blade is one long piece of metal that goes trough the hilt. Separately you create the cross-guard, the wooden grip and the pommel. Then you slide those at the tang (narrow part of the blade), first goes the cross-guard, second the wooden grip, last the pommel. At the end you merge tang with the pommel in order to keep it in place. Just look at any sword smithing video at youtube to get the idea.
You are right but i only had 2 meshes to use.Dont forget that its not in usable condition right now.I'm trying to learn how to create meshes and im realy a noob at moding This is just an idea not a finished mod.
This is actually a really cool idea. I've never made a mod myself so this may not work, but I'm thinking of mod compatibility in mind. Maybe you can make a weapon handle/ blade for each category of smithing. (Ie, Steel weapon handle/ blade, Moonstone weapon handle/ blade, etc) You can even break it down per type of item so you have hilts/blades for swords/ daggers, and axe heads/ shafts for all types of axes, etc.
Now to speak on other mod compatibility, I'm wondering if there is a way to tack on the requirement for blade/ handle in addition to the requirements to forge a weapon? I wonder how that could be done.. So let's say I'm using the Bosmer Armor pack and to forge the swords they are in the Elven category. In addition to the items I would need to already forge the Bosmer swords, I would also require a Moonstone weapon handle/ hilt or something. Not sure if that could even be done.
Anyway, love the idea and I'll be tracking this one for now.
Thank you!My main goal is make every piece uniqe.Think of a sword that has a ebony blade and a glass hilt.Or a stalhrim armor with deadric pauldrons. But as i said in the describtion im not good at making meshes or even moding. If i had the meshes for (insert a weapon -mod or not- here) blades grip guard and so on it would be possible.
It adds stages to craft. You must craft a swords blade and handle before you actualy craft a sword. But this is the first version of the mod so it only has iron sword for now.

The meshes you used may cause the effect you saw on the comments tho, because that is totally not a how a sword is made ^^'
I'm tracking this one too. Nice job.
