Even today this mod still works, doesn't depend on DLC, is extremely lightweight, and works great as an alternative to the mainstream beginning mods out there.
Such a shame it was only partially finished, and that the original author faded into obscurity..
Does a different mod replace their size or shape? That may affect it, and also look for any other mods that might interfere, like one that replaces specifically placed weapons with other ones of their type.
This is the third alternate start mod I've tested recently. It is pretty good. I chose the beggar for added health benefits (toughness), with warrior or whatever made me end up with the named battle axe. I'm into horses and ike the horse.
Minor cons:
- Horse initial fast travel - no option to just remain in Helgen and start/ride out from there. Fast traveled to Falkreath then back to Helgen to start.
- While it cut-out much of the beginning, it also left a lot. I ended-up going through Helgen gathering loot to store and eventually sell...just like my vanilla plays. Maybe should have just fast-traveled somewhere else to start.
Again, pretty good character choices. Played so far to level 2 with no performance issues.
I like this mod as well, just that I can't quite figure out how to start the main quest line. If I have to find a item or just get into whiterun and talk to Balgruuf someone say so, because finding a word of power didn't seem to do it.
It is not to throw s#*! at you. I love this mod, and I have been using it since I discovered it, but I have noticed several bugs since I started using it. Quests that are never given, merchants that are stuck in their locked houses, that sort of thing. Does it actually have anything to do with this mod, or is it just me that experience this? And if there is more than just me, is there a patch, or fix for it? Just today, Elisif and Falk ignored me, and did not give the quests they are supposed to give, and the Jarl of Falkreath just acts like one of those idle NPCs that never got voice acted. And worst of all is that the Thieve's Guild stopped working. I love this mod, and I want to keep using it. But if it stops me from playing the game normally, I am almost forced to remove it. I would like to ask you, as the author of this mod, for assistance so that I can continue to use it.
It works, tested with only a few mods though. (mostly environment/graphic mods) The only glitch I found was that when you "black out," the screen doesn't actually go black. I fall and I can see what's happening, then I get up. Nice job.

I am using a custom race. But would that make a difference?
I have no mods that alter the games start. not even Alternate start.
Never mind. Don't know why I thought the beggar was a star sign.
