The reason you can't make coins has been covered by Squashnoggin. You don't just "make some coins", you need the proper minting gear to go with it, and it's not like that stuff's available in the shops. Even if you do somehow get a coin press, you'd still need the exact mold used to engrave the coins as well, you can't just make a flat gold disc and pass it off as a Septim, real Septims have their distinctive engravings so you know they're legitimate. This is not all that lore-friendly at all.

So smelting an iron ingot and ending up with an armor that has fur bits on it is lore friendly? Hammering on a strip of metal and ending up with glass armor/weapons is lore friendly?

What does turning ingots into septims have to do with the "lore" anyway? Do you think the mint or whoever makes the coins in tamriel/skyrim does it differently? If no, then it is "lore-friendly" if not immersive.

septeracore, I'm not sure why all these nubs are coming out of the woodwork to bash on this particular mod. Not one of them ever said a thing on any of the smelting mods which have ingots to coins options, and those have been out for years.

Dean, if you'd like to have a coin minting mesh, throw me a PM. That would at least shut the nubs up.

Why isn't this a crime? It is a crime, called counterfeiting, to craft your own copies of legal tender. You should force the player to do this clandestinely or be arrested by guards.

Ok I need to clarify to people. There is a reason why coins in skyrim are called ''Gold'' instead of ''Septim''. The Name septim originates from the ancient nordic hero called Tiber Septim, his prowess on the battlefield (and lots of other things) made him ascend to an godhood upon his death. and that was why the coins were originally even called ''Septims'', However now that the Thalmor made the agreement with the imperials about Talos (a.k.a Tiber Septim), that he would not be a god even if he was more powerful than any other man or mer, the septims lost their original name and just became known as gold

No I think it is just because it is more recognisable to noobs. I think in Oblivion NPCs and books said Septims but the items itself was Gold. Noobs understand that Gold = money but Septims might confuse people.

Coin Presses are modern day inventions. You don't need one to make coins. Just like in ancient times, coins would be made by hand with simple tools.

Coins are made by sandwiching round blanks between two engraved dies and hit by a big hammer.

    Thats IT.

The dies are made of iron, whereas the coins are made of considerably softer metals like gold and silver. The design is easily transferred with a single hit of a hammer.

    Um..
Wouldn't you need some kind of "coin-press" or "molds" to make coins?
Not knocking your work here, but, you'd have to 1st; rob the Royal Mint in Cyrodiil, steal the plates/coin press, lug it back to Skyrim and then set it all up in a clandestine location...which would have to have a Smelter handy..
All in all, Squashy will get his Gold/Septims the Old Fashioned Way: He'll steal them!!

Will give a kudo for the work you did, tho'

EDIT: Just noticed that this is the 2nd 'counterfeiting' mod in 2 hours!! People must REALLY be having trouble finding cash!!
Squashy is going to start a 'PILE 'O GOLD' for everyone to share, in a basket in 'The Riverwood Trader'...

*hmmm, maybe that won't work, as our games don't cross paths..maybe Squashy should make a mod...NAH!! Squashy can't make mods!*

    NEVERMIND!!
