Well installed it, but the NPC doesn't fight. Just sits there on the ground and no dialog box comes up if you press the dialog button. He just makes a "huh" noise and never gets off the ground. Seems like a cool idea but didn't work for me.
Despite not being updated in a pretty long time, this mod still works very well. I'm very surprised at how few endorsements it has since it is such a promising idea, not to mention functional. It's an excellent way of training and/or trying out different weapons till you find the right one for your playstyle. It does however have some shortcomings as well, though nothing too major. While the spar stops once you sheathe your weapon, if you are to slow to do so you may get killed rather than just be defeated (as in load to last save, rather than get up after a lost spar). This is something that should have been part of the mod, especially in early levels where the you can die pretty easily during the spar (or I'm just not very good). While I fully recommend this mod, for those who like to join the Companions there is an improved version of this sparring implemented in the mod "Enhanced Skyrim Factions - The Companions Guild", but you can only access this if you join.
I just installed this mod, nexus was being retarded saying it was already downloading so I downloaded version 1.1 manually and added to nexus through file, went into game, found him sitting down, the only dialogue option he has is "Whistle, whistle, or a whistle?" because I have Convenient Horses installed. Is version 1.1 broken or something? I downloaded this mod because I was gonna power level one handed and light armour instead of just one handed through horses. I'll be really disappointed if I won't be able to pwrlvl..

I had the same problem the first time I installed this mod. The Trainer offered no dialogue, excluding the options you get from other mods, as it is in your case. The problem for me was the load order. I tried again later, this time using LOOT (BOSS should work too, but I've never tried it, since LOOT hasn't let me down yet) to sort it properly and it worked. Conclusion, just let LOOT sort everything and enjoy. Hope this helps

It seems that The Companions Guild has a combat training system. I didn't tested but the description say "Companions will spar with you in the training yard, after you've joined".
A tip for people who are using this. You can use console command to add/replace his weapon and armor, as well as setting his health to whatever you want. I have mine using wooden sword and having 10k health.
mochman, I'd like to expand on the work you've already done on this mod and add higher level trainers and maybe add more locations. Can I use your mod as a starting point and build over it? I'll give you credit and link to your mod in my description. It's not a hundred percent sure I'll make the mod but I thought I'd ask you anyway.
Great idea but there seems to be a bug in your script somewhere. I don't get two hit in and he runs away say he yields. I'm at level 1 and two hits from me are probably 25-50 damage points out of his 250 health points.
Edit: I read your script, it looks good. For some reason he's entering bleedout mod in 2 hits. I'll look at the esp.
Edit: I just started a new game. Seems to be fixed.

what I would do is maybe put an npc in every major city or something like that. if i change every npc in te game ( a LOT of work xD) this mod wouldnt be compatible with a lot of bigger mods, and that is one of the best things about this mod: it is compatible with everything!
Hello! I would like to give you a hint. I made a new test and if you save your sword the sparring stops golpearte and doesn't kill. It is great! The only change that I would give... Change your sword by one of wood! It is a massacre of blood haha (endorse and vote)
The killing me !!! hahahah. You have to find ways to adapt taverns fighting these battles. The mod is great. Many people ask this mod and I am very grateful to have this version.
