-------------------------- Marked for Death Restored
----------------------------------- by Ceruulean
------------------------------------------ v1
Marked for Death was considered extremely overpowered in the Vanilla game. It could permanently
reduce an NPC's armor rating, which was bad for companions who were accidentally hit.
No one knows whether the dangerous effect was Bethesda's intentional design, but I am inclined to
believe so. The name of the shout means, "Kill Leech Suffer," so it was designed to torture the
enemy. Here comes the Bug-thesda part: while other actor values such as Heavy Armor, Light Armor,
health, and magicka revert to normal after the effect's duration passes, Damage Resist, which
Marked for Death uses, does not. The only way for the effect to automatically revert itself is to
mark the effect as "Recover," but in the process it changes the mechanics of the shout; instead of
draining the armor rating every second for 60 seconds, it's a one-time reduction that lasts 60
seconds. Seriously, that is so lame.
Basically, this mod undoes the changes that USKP made to the shout. But dont run away! I added a
safety feature to make sure the dreaded Armor Rating debuff is not permanent.
All detrimental effects are the same as vanilla, except there is now a secondary recovery effect.
I consider this second effect as the mark wearing off, and the more powerful the shout, the
longer it takes for the target to completely recover.
First word (Krii):
Drains 1 point of health every second for 60 seconds.
25 point reduction in Armor Rating per second for 60 seconds.
* After that, Armor Rating recovers 25 points per second, complete recovery in 60 seconds.
Second word (Lun):
Drains 2 points of health every second for 60 seconds.
Drains 50 points of Armor Rating every second for 60 seconds.
* After that, Armor Rating recovers 20 points per second, complete recovery in 150 seconds.
Third word (Aus):
Drains 3 points of health every second for 60 seconds.
Drains 75 points of Armor Rating every second for 60 seconds.
* After that, Armor Rating recovers 15 points per second, complete recovery in 300 seconds.
The recovery effect continues even when the target dies, so no dragons respawn with negative armor
rating.
I tested this on Hadvar and Breton clones using God Mode and belted all three tiers of the shout on
them. Hadvar was unimpressed, but after waiting a few hours he was back to his normal, chipper
self. Yeay.
Is there stacking?
The health drain always stacks. In regards to armor rating, different tiers stack, so first, second
and third word debuffs stack. However, same tier effects dont stack. Like I said, I pounded Hadvar
with a ton of shouts in God Mode. At one point he had more than -8000 AR, but I waited a few hours
and he recovered to normal.
There are no scripts, so this mod is very safe to uninstall. But, don't uninstall when an NPC is
still recovering from the effects of this shout (not like you'd ever uninstall this anyway).
This mod is incompatible with anything that edits Marked For Death, such as Improved Dragon Shouts.
Overwrite this mod after your shout-balancing mods and obviously after the USKP.
--- By the way, this mod is pretty rad:

Thanks to Bethesda for Skyrim despite the bugs.
