Adds 2 Salt Mines - 1 in Falkreath, 1 in Winterhold --Does NOT require any DLC.
I've started Professional school; I will not be updating this mod. You have my permission to do whatever you want with this mod (no charging for mods; may not be used in mods that charge for use).
v1.1 - Added support for Dragonborn; Raven Rock now has a small Salt Mine (look near the shrine). Also made minor interior changes and removed a few Salt Veins from Falreath mine to prevent NPCs from hovering 20 ft in air. See images for preview pic of Raven Rock Mine location. - Post below if you encounter any issues.
i went to the falkreath mine and was amazed by how it looks. its not overwhelming yet there is just a feeling to it that makes me want to move in and make it a new home. im even considering slaughtering the miners and moving my home there because its so nice!
Ya, I'm working on an update for regular Skyrim and SSE; not much changed. For regular Skyrim, it will require Dragonborn; as I made a small simple mine in Raven Rock. I will keep non-DLC version up for others. Can't convert it to SSE until Bethesda release the new Creation Kit for public release. (They said next week).
It would be cool if salt veins could be scattered around in the overworld as well, but I imagine that would be very time-consuming to make. Salt Mines are a great idea though
For the immersive, food consuming role-players and survivalists out there- this is ideal. I can't believe it took me this long to discover your mod! I am so glad to have these mines in my game now, because I use Realistic Needs & Diseases and I'd rather not live off of cabbage and raw potatoes, if I can help it. But RND never took into account the elevated need for salt and the vanilla vendors never have enough to satisfy. Thank you for providing this Skyrim life-sustaining resource! As a culture, we have depended on salt for eons... how Bethesda overlooked this is beyond me. Sodium intolerance, perhaps? I'm glad you could help me get past their shortcomings.
cANT FIND THE DAMN fALKREATH MINE ANYWHERE. IVE BEEN RUNNING AROUND FOR OVER AN HOUR, WHY IS THERE NO DISCOVERED LOCATIONS ON YOUR PICTURE, FOR SOME RELIVAnce. i have been all over that damn mountian nothing.. (whats the Coc command to get there so i can find this damn place.
holy s#*!, i found it.. i ran past it about 15 times. i have immersive borders and enhanced roads. so it was right by the border gate, with a tree in the path, (also had icompass on so no markers on compass)
Hmm the miner guy in Winterhold was hacking away at an ore vein, except that he was floating in the air, his bed is also half buried... ore veins aren't really white like in the picture more of a greenish colour, not as green as orichalcum but more like iron ore...
I don't think I have any other mods that alter that area, anyone else have the same? Its not really a problem, but it is strange.
It was probably a bad placement of the ore-mining marker; visually unappealing, but doesn't hurt anything. As for his bed, could be the same as the above; bad placement.
If you want your ore/veins to look more appealing, then use this mod: [this will change appearance of ALL mineral veins; silver, iron, ebony, etc...] http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/193/
I am in the Falkreath salt mine and I've been mining the veins for at least 5 minutes and have yet to get any rock salt, is the number of hits really high or is my crafting overhaul mod interfering since it messes with mining some?
--No, the new Salt Veins should act like regular ore veins. --The Salt Veins are just "duplicated/altered" Silver Veins. Ditto for the Rock Salt [which is a duplicate/altered Silver Ore]. Do not worry, I created "NEW" items, and thus your ingame Silver Veins/Ore haven't been altered. --My Salt Veins do not use any custom scripts; they use the default Skyrim mining script.
--I can only assume it is a conflict with the "crafting overhaul mod". [it's a popular mod, so if anyone else uses it and has no problems, please chime in]. I know that mod "can" alter mining scripts; perhaps disable the "mining" feature of that mod and see if Salt Veins work for you. If that is the issue, report it to Kryptopyr, since I don't think there's anything on my end to fix [if there is have him contact me].
--Lastly, are you sure you do not have any other mods that may conflict with mining? I know there are other "Salt Mining" mods on the nexus that do modify the mining script; perhaps you use/used them?
I will try messing around some more with turning of the overhaul mining, might even go as far as uninstalling then trying to mine it. I don't have any other salt mods so that isn't it.
I messed around with Crafting overhaul and even uninstalled that an it isn't working, I will try uninstalling the salt mine and reinstalling next
EDIT: Well, it turns out the mod wasn't installed, when it was. I looked at my list of mods in Nexus, it wasn't listed, but in the plugin section it was and I was obviously going into the salt mines. I downloaded it again but still to no avail. I have no idea how I broke it this badly
Salt was worth it's weight in gold some decades ago. This mod is too. Keep up the good work and if you are ever (heavens forbid) wounded, may no one rub salt on your wounds!

The Ore in my mod uses vanilla "Silver" Ore/Veins; which does have a slight green tint to it.

Good luck and hopefully you get the mod to work.
