Using this in SE and wouldn't class it as fully lore friendly. I was enjoying listening to the new version of Ragnar for the male young eager replacer, but that changed when it went heavy metal at the end, now I love heavy metal music when it's put with classical and done right but this? I would of found someone else to replace that version, especially as it's so much louder than when the guy was singing I ripped my headphones off in horror. I shall be deleting that file for sure.
I liked this mod, but still had to uninstall due to the complete lack of immersion. A metal outro to "Ragnar the Red?" Really? I know you arent the artists, and i appreciate you putting them together in a pack, but the selections are so blatantly out of the time period it's laughable. The girls voices dont sound like adult bards. They sound like 14 year old indie singers. Not that it isnt beautiful, and i even like the male covers, but it just doesnt fit in my game world.
Overall, if you're looking for immersion this just isnt the mod for you. If you want pretty sounds no matter the time period, go ahead and install it, the music is great, and it's fairly well implemented, with even the requests working properly, and the sound ending properly when you leave the inn, not that you'll want to because the music is nice. I though, am looking for immersion, and this mod just wasnt for me.
This mod is superb! All the songs are just beautiful. For anyone blathering on about immersion: how fkn un-immersive are Bethesda's awful vanilla songs, with their long, awkward pauses, and pitchiness that wouldn't make it past round one of school choir tryouts??? Endorsed. And subbed to all the singers on Youtube too.
Hi, I have your mod and it's full of dirty edits!! Most of your dialog topic entries are marked as deleted but contain considerable information. TESVedit can't work with it because of the extra information in the records. I personally can't tell if you meant to delete them or if they were for another purpose. Unfortunately, there are a lot of these. I have to remove this mod from my order till you clean it, a real shame as it implements some nice music and is otherwise great. Without being cleaned though, it's just going to cause instability. Feel free to let me know if you've fixed these errors, I'd love to use the mod. As noted below, this is quite well implemented, you just forgot to clean it before uploading.
I'm a Nash the Slash fan as much as anyone else, and if any culture on this planet had to lay claim to it 400 or so years ago (whatever), either Toronto or the Nords/Vikings would. But in Skyrim, for the male bards to remind me of 80s death metal is a lot too much.
There's no way this mod is getting anywhere near the STEP or any other Skyrim patch/mod installation guide, with the male "bard" songs as they are.
The female bard songs that I've heard so far are gorgeous and fit the game. That they have invisible choirs doing melodies with them can be explained as usual in Skyrim; dwemer technology. It's still a stretch (not for me, but for "lore masters" who decide what does and doesn't go into mod lists, such as the STEP:Guide et al), but the female bard vocals sound so good that 4th era dwemer technology could explain the harmonies with no visible choir.
On the male ones, no TES 4th era dwemer or any other "technology" (style) can explain it. The male songs make this mod a bust.
The songs need to be sung as they would have been sung in Scandinavia (the female ones even have some language other than English in them; possibly dragon speak/chants but it could be Nordish to most North Americans. It could be anything and who cares--the female bard songs fit), I mean in Skyrim, so in Scandinavian but with English accents, many, many moons ago.
No "throaty" singing, no electric guitar slides that are boring in real-life today (done to death, over and over and over... and...), that we really don't need in Skyrim or anywhere else.
You wanted "Data Data Data", and now you have some. It's just honest feedback, with no offense to anyone at all.
I wish I could do more than just endorse this mod. I voted fotm for it, but I'm shocked to see how few endorsements and general inactivity there is here. This mod is gorgeous, on the female side. The stock bards in Skyrim were a bit novel (maybe even a bit amusing) about 80 years ago when I first started playing. But now, after having completed the STEP:Guide (Extended, all mods on that list), which almost fixes Skyrim to be as it perhaps should have been released to Windows in the first place, the vanilla Skyrim bards stuck out like a sore thumb.
It'd be nice if this mod could be included in a future STEP Guide, because it seems to be within the guidelines of the STEP Guide: lore friendly and there are no graphical issues to consider, at all... other than that the lip sync'ing is off in my game, for now... so I'll be off for that patch to hopefully fix that.
The subtitles aren't sync'ed either. Subtitles sort of worked on Lisette [?] on a new test game at the Winking Skeever in Solitude, on the first song she did: Dragonborn Comes. But then I talked to her and made a request for Age of Aggression and the subtitles got stuck on the first or second line. [Edit: tried Mikeal [?] at the Bannered Mare in Whiterun on another new test game and the subtitles always get stuck on the first line, with Lisette too.]
If there are any such issues with this otherwise just gorgeous mod/gorgeous music, it won't be included in the STEP Guide. But if it does get included it'll surely get quite a lot more attention.
I need to get to YouTube to credit the artists, but I would never have known about their covers/renditions of the songs included here but not for your mod. And the YouTube audio wouldn't play in my game of Skyrim without your mod, either. Kudos and thanks much for doing it.
