Ironically, center-gripped shields perform better in on-foot melee combat due to the range of maneuverability the shield can offer if gripped on the center, strapped-on however works best in horseback riding so if ever you were in an on-foot melee situation your only defensive lifeline is trusted by a static shield sticking on your forearm.
And no, it's not an unrealistic grip, center-gripped shields exist for a reason.
Just a suggestion: It would be far better if you made it on a way that adds an additional version to most shields or every shield, so it wouldn’t replace the vanilla shields, and if the mod allowed the player to use two handed weapons with the shield strapped to the left arm. It would really increase combat immersion.
this is not a better Position concern how real combat goes. but we are in Skyrim ..soooooooooooooooooooooo. yeah, this type of position is call strap on.
its a good idea but there is something missing. a second handle. most shields that had a handle positioned like that, always had a second handle or a strap that held around the forearm. if you could make a second handle, it would DEFINITELY improve the mod and there would be more people who would download it
this is cool but i really need a mod that fixes the one-handed sword on the hip placement cause it's so low on my female character anyone know a mod that fixes this ?
That is not more realistic, most shields had the grip in the center. The only shields that have a grip like you made are tilting, or jousting shields, which weren't really suitable for combat. Ancient Roman shields and Viking shields were certainly gripped in the center. They need to be that way for how they are used in combat.
Sorry I do not speak English very well yet. Historically Might be right, but the mod believe it to give a more aesthetic touch to the game, personally mesh looks much better this way could not change it because I was banned, because a up a mod whit photographs with textures another mod, and I could no longer be modifying this But if we go into oblivion while the shields were well placed, 300 years later returned to the central mode. what is wrong that the central shield was before the other. thanks for your comment this is your opinion and i respect. only say mi opinion to. Atte Killerstranger whit new count :p
I'd like to note that while sliding the model down is an easy fix, it moved where the shield is placed on the shield racks too. :S
So, might want to add that to your notes about the mod, unless there's a way to slide the positioning of the shield placeholder for those to match properly?
Good afternoon, sorry my English is not very good and very use translator: p These days do not have time to work on the mod but I see video tutorials on 3dsmax to modify the meshes more correct. if you know someone how can helpme Xp
Finally, the old shield position has always bugged me. Holding a shield like a trashcan lid is a sure way to get the bones in your hand broken quickly. The hand just cannot take that kind of punishment. Strapping the shield to your arm is what you do and if the shield is small enough (bucklers) you even get your shield arm hand free to hold an off hand weapon at the same time, or a bow.
