Hi HIini i like it and your point of view about realism..but i found it...too much ikea...yeah it' simple,minimal and lore friendly..just...mmm to simmetrical...and fake...give it a little bit more soul!! endorse after dl.
I like the fact that you retextured it from scratch. But i think the chest should have a little more detail (like diverse metal pieces) on them. It looks a bit too plain now.
@Himini: Hello, you have the best chest texture on all nexus site. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, could you make a similar chest texture for this chest style from the game ???
@begange: Same goes for me, I like my bump maps bumpy Version 1.1 is with more metal parts and has same rough bump mapping, only v. 1.2 has toned down normal/bump maps.
@Aelquias:
Thanks for great feedback!
I'll fix the lid soon, it's just a little tune for normal map. Uhm, Vanilla doesn't have handles either? :S
I for one like v1.0 i like the agressive bump mapping since i stopped using sharpening mods, cause in the end all they do is distort everything... Looking forward to your other mods.
The textures look great. I love your WIP farmhouse mod I use it now. However these chests have no break in the metal for the lid. How are they supposed to open? I also agree with what others are saying about them needing more leather and metal doo-dads. At least they need handles to be picked up with. They way Beth did the top is pretty clever IMHO and if you go off of that concept I think this will be a winner. cheers, great work as always!
I was wondering, do you happen to use FXAA, ENB, any other mods that enchance saturation, contrast etc?
The thing is, I don't use them so I have no clue how my mod looks with, for example, FXAA. I'm not completely happy with the wooden part either and it probably gets fixed (soon).
What comes to removing leather straps, it's completely on purpose. It's crude _cheap_ FARMHOUSE chest/container/box for stuff, not fancy chest you can see in the yarls bedroom. Leather straps appear on chests mostly from 14th century onwards, Vikings (I consider Nords to be Vikings) didn't use them on their chests(Old Norse: kista=chest, BOX, coffin).
If Bethesda wanted this chest to look less boxy, they would have done so. Do you remember how cheap chests look in Oblivion? http://static.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/40798-1-1319487620.jpg None of them looked as boxy as these in Skyrim. Even the chests found in ruins have more fancy detail on them.
Also, the chests found in barracks at the end of guards beds use this same texture, theres one reason more, why I'm not trying to turn these boxy chests into something else
