Good news everyone! SE version is now live! https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4295 It turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be, thank the gods.
I also have remedied the issues where people couldn't dismiss her. If you downloaded the Loose Files version previously then please download the scripts from the Updates section. Or just redownload the main version. Or the bsa. Any of those will fix the issue. The gray face bug only happens if you only use the bsa, idk why. Still trying to figure that one out. Anyway, hopefully everything is fixed and good to go now, I've got a few more things to test out before I'm ready to attempt a replacer friendly version, just in case. I'll try to keep you posted.

Astrid now works with replacers! If you already installed 2.0 I suggest installing the patch for your version. Or just install 2.1. Whatever floats your boat. Big thanks to detra for helping with this! (https://www.nexusmods.com/users/2475072)
Someone should point out the newly released KVA Synth mod to @MoonV. That mod allows to text to speech translation in near same quality as skyrim voice actors. It's revolutionary really. the limit of using only the few lines astrid has in game can be removed all together.

You actually saw this comment. That alone is great to know because, besides the fact that you might not have time or might not have the energy to expand the mod, I was worried that you wouldn't know that such a resource existed.
While I and several others would be really happy if you could expand the mod, I know it can be very time consuming.

I just downloaded [ASTRID REBORN Back from the Void]. This works really well, it's a great MOD! I worked CreationKit to your mod . i am long time using Kmatu's Astrid face It works fine. I uploaded some photos. I want to meet your new face Astrid in your new version with meshes. I give you one kudos
I completed the quest today. I met them through various gates in the void space. It was a short but meaningful quest astrid. I brought them home. Now I will eat with them comfortably

Glad you enjoyed the short quest! I meant it as a little way to justify why she actually comes back and becomes your follower, without being too grandiose or lengthy and also giving the player more of a reason to complete Volunruud (as I had never done it before actually making this mod)
I'm not sure what your idea about making her work with replacers is, but all that's usually required is to use the original as a template in combination with the use traits flag. The only issues would be that you changed the voice type and gave the new one a death item, both of which would be overwritten by the traits flag.
I'm basically going to try to use the normal Astrid npc instead of the one I created. It should work fine since the dialogue doesn't activate until you read the note anyway. It'll just be a bit time consuming to transfer everything over to her. My only worry is that adding new factions to her might affect other things. It shouldn't but you never know. And of course if you don't finish the questline and read the note early it'd make her a follower during the questline, which could pose all kinds of problems. But of course that's only possible with console commands or the Lazy version. Also the death item is on the corpse which is a completely different actor, so that doesn't really matter. The voice type shouldn't be too much of an issue since I'll just use that instead of the custom one. We'll see how it goes.
If you're going to use the original voice and the death item doesn't matter, then you don't really need to use the original NPC. The use traits template flag already changes the actors appearance to that of its template, so it would use whatever replacer is installed. The only other thing you might want to set is the use model/animation flag in case the replacer uses a different body.
Just tried it with my own replacer and it worked as expected.
Hmm I'll have to give that a shot and see how it goes. That does sound a lot less tedious than what I had in mind. I'm a total noob to the textures/replacers side of modding so I wasn't sure there was an easier way of doing it.
Edit: THIS ACTUALLY WORKS PERFECTLY! Just checking the traits flag makes her use replacers. Now I just gotta readd all the voice files for the original voice type and it should be good to go. Thank you so much for this!
Edit 2: Apparently I had the foresight to add the voice files to her voice type when I originally created 2.0. So all I had to do was copy the voice files in the FemaleUniqueAstridReborn folder to a FemaleUniqueAstrid folder! Oh how I wish I knew it was this easy before! Thank you so much again, I'm going to upload this in just a few minutes.
I like mods like this. Creating a follower from ingame characters. Like Miraak Reborn and Astrid Reborn. I only need Harkon now, but I can't find anywhere.

How do i give her items? Everytime i say "I want you to carry some things" She says a line of dialogue and thats it.
No windows open up or anything.
Also, Her mouth doesn't move while talking.
But i can ignore that, just pointing it out.
I think giving her items should be something that she should have, Otherwise she is only viable on the easiest of difficulties.
Update: She hasn't been following me and can't follow me through areas, and cannot be dismissed. It just summons her back to me again.

I did find this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/66949/ It adds him as a summon, but just in his Vampire Lord form.
