    ASIS Improved INI Files FAQ

Note: Comments are disabled on this article for the sole reason that I'm terrible at remembering to check them. Please leave comment in the main mod comment area. Thanks!

Q: Does ASIS support (such-and-such) mod?
A: Before I list them, let me say that not being "supported" by these files is not the same as being incompatible with these files. When I add support for a mod, I'm simply adding entries that lets ASIS affect that mod. If a ASIS encounters an unsupported file, most likely the worst thing that will happen is that you won't get any of ASIS's enhancements with that mod. A few of the other possible effects on an unsupported mod are:

Unintentional spawns random or extra spawns, especia...

  • SkyProc and BOSS

The below also applies to LOOT.

So I've run into a problem with SkyProccers before, because in at least some of them, the "Don't run BOSS" checkbox is nonfunctional.

Unless you're running your proccer with the -noboss parameter, Im pretty sure I know what the issue is.

Basically, even if you lock your load order, the SkyProccer will run BOSS and change your load order only while it's running and then your load order will change back immediately with no indication of what happened, or why you got the error.

So if you're running BOSS and then manually sorting a few mods BOSS isn't recognizing into the proper order, that's the problem. Because when the SkyProccer runs BOSS, it'll throw those mods back ...

Ever feel like ASIS didn't do as much as it should? That's because the INI files were really only set up for vanilla Skyrim, and didn't have have the entries needed to support the official DLCs and popular mods. Well, no more! These INI files, the result of hours of work, rectify that!

    I. HOW TO USE
    -------------

In order to use these files, you need to either:
Overwrite the original INI files and Blocklist.txt that came with ASIS.
If you're using Mod Organizer, install this as a seperate mod, and in the left hand panel, put it below ASIS.

After you do one of the above, you'll need to rerun ASIS. For the best results in-game, I rec...

  • Why you should keep stuff out of blocklist.txt...

Okay, lets say you have Bob's Enemies, which adds a bunch of new NPCs to do battle with, and Alice's Dungeons, which adds new dungeons to explore, but it turns out ASIS breaks Alice's Dungeon's Quests.

Now, your first impulse might be to simply put Alice's Dungeons.esp into blocklist.txt, but it turns out this is a bad idea, because it stops the ASIS patcher from even looking at Alice's Dungeons.esp.

Why is this bad? If Alice's Dungeon.esp uses vanilla leveled lists, you'll still get quest-breaking additional spawns, and because Alice's Dungeon.esp is in blocklist.esp, ASIS has no way of preventing this.

What you should do is: Add the FormIDs of the cells of Alice's Dungeon.esp to the Cell Exclusion of Automat...

  • Why Vanilla Perks Are Fine

There have been a lot of requests and discussion about compatibility with overhauls: SkyRe, Requiem, Perkus Maximus, and SPERG. The biggest concern is over the distribution of the new perks provided by these overhauls. I feel that the distribution of these overhaul perks is unnecessary and actually undesirable, but I feel I should probably explain why I feel that way.

First, it's an issue of Game Design: I'll need to digress a little bit to make my point: Back in the days of Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, I was reading through Savage Species, a guide on making player characters out of non-standard races. Part of it that stuck with me is germane to this issue. Paraphrasing, because I don't have Savage Species in front of me, it stated that powers needed to be balanced d...

  • ASIS Experimental Patch Readme

With Dienes help, the experimental patch has been made to actually work as advertised. If you're using it, please upgrade it and do a cell reset.
    What is this patch?

There are a few known bad ASIS interactions with features from other mods, such as the Evil Twin spell in Apocalypse, and the Splinter Twins shout in Thunderchild. Additionally, it has been impossible to block extra spawns on the dragons spawned by Deadly Dragons "Assault" feature without blocking extra spawns on all other dragons and dragon priests. This patch is my attempt, with Dienes blessing, to address these issues.

    How does it work?

When you run the ASIS patcher, it attaches a small script to every NPC record that runs every time that NPC is spawned. It checks ...
