UPDATING to 2.0 FROM ANY OTHER VERSION
VERY IMPORTANT. This update is major, and totally rebuilds the way the fortifications are determined and applied. The updating process is easy, but you may encounter bugs if you do not follow these steps:

    1) Load the save game(s) you wish to update.
    2) Unequip every piece of Hedge Mage Armor from your character, or any NPC. (You do not need to remove it from your inventory.)
    3) Save the game, and exit.
    4) UNINSTALL “HedgeMageArmor – No Hood Dependency.esp” if you have it (you don’t need it anymore, and it will break everything.)
    5) Install Hedge Mage Armor 2.0. Be sure to overwrite any old files.
    6) Load up your save game. A script will perform the necessary updates, and you will be greeted with a confirmation message.

***You do not need to perform a “clean save”. In fact, doing this may mess-up the update process.***

    What's New in 2.0?
    -------------------------

-Major fixes to normal maps. Minor fixes to diffuse maps.

-All textures have been given an optimization pass. Overall performance should be better, without a great loss in fidelity. Most large textures are still 2k resolution, and most normal maps are still uncompressed to avoid ugly artifacts, but rescaled to compensate.

-Recolors! You can choose between 9 new cloth colors. Download the color pack separately, and customize your hood, tunic, and trousers. (You can even mix-n-match! #Fashion)

-Gloves are now a separate piece. You are free to temper and enchant them as you please!
(Keep in mind that this set was never truly intended to be worn with anything other than itself. Mixing and matching the gloves and armor with other sets will more than likely result in some really awful clipping or strange gaps.)

-Changed the biped slot of the tokens from 60 to 48. AFAIK, the only major mod this conflicts with is Bags and Bandoliers. If you do run into a conflict, you should now be able to just first equip the armor, then equip the conflicting item. This should unequip the tokens (and make them disappear. But don't worry - it doesn't affect the armor bonus.)

-The "Fortification" armor bonus is now tied to individual pieces. No need to wear the full set. (This also makes the "No Hood Dependency" plugin obsolete. Uninstall that plugin if you wish to upgrade.)

-Dramatically decreased the armor's base defense, and dramatically increased the fortification bonuses. This brings the armor more in line with vanilla sets. For example, a legendary Glass Armor set should be very similar to the rank 7 or 8 legendary Hedge Mage set. If you continue to invest in upgrades, this armor can go from very weak to rivaling Dragonscale during the course of a play through.

-Adjusted the equation that calculates fortification ranks. A level 1 character (of any race) will now only qualify for the first rank. (Previously, most characters would qualify for rank 2 or 3 at level 1 due to base stats starting with at least 15 points.) This WILL NOT decrease your fortification progression on characters using the older version - it will simply take longer to reach the next rank as your skill points catch up to the new system.

-Changed the smithing perk to Elven. (Doesn't make sense material-wise, but does make sense progression-wise.)

-The upgrade process must now be performed incrementally. You can no longer skip fortification levels. (Except for the first time the armor is discovered and upgraded. That's a freebie.) This method is more intuitive, and doesn't let you "cheat" the spell by waiting until your skills are several levels higher.
Ex. If your armor is currently upgraded to rank 4, but you have the skills to upgrade it to rank 7; you must collect the items and perform the spell for rank 5, then rank 6, then rank 7.

    -Minor text fixes.

Making original models like this, from scratch, with no professional training is extremely time-consuming. I make mods for myself, for fun, and for learning. If I think others might also enjoy the finished product, I upload it. Any requests I fulfill are those I think will be fun to tackle, or seem reasonably simple to execute.

For those who are disappointed that I do not have a male version, I do have sympathy. I created this mod because I was disappointed that I couldn't find an outfit I liked for my character. Despite the fact that I had no prior knowledge in 3d art, I set about spending many weeks of self-teaching to create exactly what I wanted.

I am simply sharing a hobby I love. I'm so excited that I could bring other players a bit of joy.

But I am not trying to sell a product, and I am not obligated to do anything more than I care to give. Please be understanding and respectful.

If only this came with a FOMOD to let you pick the colours instead of manual messing around...

I improved the armor on the workbench and now it seems to not take the fortification spells, is there any way to fix this?

Really good job, looks amazing, and a breath of fresh air among all the skimpy half-naked "robes" I find on Nexus (it's cold in Skyrim, yaknow?).
I wanted to get this for Brelyna, but the fortification spell and that whole function being "mandatory" makes me not want to use it. :/ I am very picky with spells and I don't want anymore cluttering up what I have.

Love this set. Perfect for my wandering alchemist.

The only criticism I have is that all the colors are very dark, even in very bright settings. Was really excited to mix and match but really any re-color other that white makes the cloth blend right into the leather. (I don't have any ENBs or any mod that might affect lighting.) That said, white does look wonderful contrasted against the dark leather. Bit of a badass nurse vibe.

Download Hedge Mage Armor - Recolors in optional files. It's been a while but iirc you have to drag and rename some files. Nothing too complicated though.

Great mod, but I only have a dull brown color available for the armor. No files downloaded that allowed me to change to another color.

This mod is great, a cut above most other armor mods. It's lore friendly, practical, and has many options. I love the whole hedge mage adventurer idea and aesthetic.
I like that there are color options a lot, and have used some of them in past playthroughs, however as I returned to make a character with something of a warm autumn aesthetic, I noticed there was no option for orange. The author Included every primary and secondary color on the wheel + cyan, but did not add an orange. lol what was the thinking there?
Perhaps I'll get a dds file editor and try my hand at it myself, though I've never done anything like that before. wish me luck.

I don't know if I've ever left a comment here but the details on this armor are amazing. Please consider making other clothing in this style because it's beautiful.
