Guys, the MOD AUTHOR has given permission for anybody to port this to SE and upload here on Nexus.
How come no one has ever done it so far? I cannot do it myself, but I would be grateful and endorse whoever did.

There is no SE posted but it is easy to convert.
1.Download LE version to your desktop and unzip then discard the zipped file. This will leave you with an esp and a BSA.
      2. Use BSA Browser to unzip the BSA to a folder named Data on your desktop. That will give you a meshes, textures and scripts folder inside Data. Discard the LE BSA as no longer needed.
3.You can use Cathedral Assets Optimizer to optimize the textures and meshes. (I didn't bother and it looks fine).
      4. In Skyrim Se - Tools - Archive use Archive.exe to repackage Data into a SE BSA.
      5. Make a folder called Immersive NPCs in the Dark SE. Drag the original esp from the downloaded zip file into it along with your converted BSA. Make sure they have the exact same name.
      6. Make this into a zip file and add it to your game. It will complain because the esp is for LE.
      7. In the creation kit set the mod as active and load it. Then save. This will convert the esp to SE.
      8. Now on your desktop open up the folder with the original esp and converted BSA. Discard the original esp as no longer needed and replace it with your converted esp. Now Zip this up , remove the unconverted mod from your game and add the converted zip file.

I would upload it but I have no idea how to contact Chesko and Vixenfinder about the meshes and texture permissions.

Greyday01, would you be willing to send me and the others here a private message with a GoogleDrive link or something, with the finished SE file?

I tried following your guide, but must have confused some bits, and it didnt work on my end.

Hello. Thank you very much, I currently use the Quick Light mod and I have been fascinated that your mod has that lamp in the distribution
I am using the Spanish translation that does not require this original mod but there is a bug or something is wrong because the npc never stop using the torch even they sleep with the torch in hand.
Could someone tell me if the same thing happens in this original mod?
    thank you

edit: I forgot to review it in detail but at first look the original does not have the translation problem. the npc don't use the torch in day. although I haven't looked closely in interior house or beds.

    Hello,

Wow, it's been 8 years since I made this mod.

I haven't played Skyrim for years, but I've just installed Skyrim SE for nostalgia and went to nexus looking for mods to play it with and I find that there a lot of nice people asking permission to port this mod to Skyrim SE, and as I have said before in the description and in the sticky post in this forum, please, go ahead and do anything you like with my code, no need for permission.

I will probably try to port it to SE myself :)

yo my guy, were you able to port it? been playing oldrim since forever but finally decided to play sse. and i love it, but without this mod, it sucks, love the immersion and actually seeing motherfuckers during the night

Unfortunately, nobody has been able to port it yet.  This challenge is just far too much for the Skyrim modding community.

    Hello everybody,

It's been a long time since i came to nexus, had a problem (in life) that made me unable to pursue my hobby (making mods), it's been a year and now everything had settled down, so i came back. Sorry for you who have been waiting for the next update.

There are a lot of message in my inbox, mostly asking the status of this mod and some asking for permission to use my script.

Status of the mod: I am thinking of continuing this mod, had many new ideas and code optimization using the new skse (new for me at least, since it's been a year)

Permission: Feel free to use my code, it's open source, even if you plan on making similar and better mod than mine.

Hiya.. welcome back. The mod is great..I'm using the follower part of it and seems working K. Yeah..the mage-light is not so good for an archer...
they see me a mile away ..lol
Wish well..wishing well..anywho..Could you implement a script where the followers will put their lights out.. be their mage light, statue of liberty or any light source they carry?
I know there are other mods ,but too many esp's already and need to trim the "fat".
      thnx.
      Jokes aside...
      ..I'm getting a lot of CTD's with this_NUL_LightBearerAbility.psc
the script keep spamming till it bails.
      so is the
      _NUL_ArcherAbility.psc

I hope you're still thinking of continuing this mod, as no alternative seems to exist for dark/night immersion.

Are you considering porting this to Skyrim SE once SKSE arrives?

I was looking for exactly this kind of mod and it seems this one is the only option.
I haven´t tried it though as I am playing SE.

The npc's are holding invisible torches the mod forces them to hold it and for some reason they just don't have it in hand. Most annoying bug for me so fix it

I am using Obsidian Weathers with Darker Nights for Obsidian Weathers.  Two brilliant mods that work extremely well together, but I have problems with night attacks. One of the advantages of a night attack should be you and your followers move with stealth under the cover of darkness.  Nocturnal creatures should be able to see you although in complete darkness even nocturnal animals cannot see, but for human races you are completely hidden as long as you don't make a sound.  I need a mod like this but for SSE.  Could you please do a SSE conversion.

      Regards, Michael

Everyone looking for a port of this mod should do it themselves. Follow this guide to convert oldrim mods to special edition:

    https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23316

I haven't tried it yet to see if it works. I will be trying to convert it tonight though.

Great mod was one of my favorite if only it was for SE sense the Original doesn't run very well anymore.

Search for 'Darker Nights' it pretty much does this, in making it harder for npc's to detect you in dark areas
