   To fix this bug you should bury the chest deeper into the ground so no one can reach it. As Deadallus already explained it is a vendor chest. Thanks.

      all you need to do if you don't like the chest being available is get the unofficial skyrim patch which makes this one and the one outside solitude and the one outside markarth not useable.

   I remember looking for these boxes on the ps3. Also the do not delet boxes. ..... Glad I got a pc
   
   You could make it more interesting like make the box have more items and loot in it. Keep it up

   In case anyone has the same problem I did with the buried chest near the Mine entrance disappearing.
   I found out that it had sunk of reach. This just brings it to the surface.
   
   forgive my ignorance but errr.. what chest and what mine?

      there is a chest to the left of the mine entrance in Dawnstar under a tree in the rocks. You can take from it with out it being listed as stolen.

   if you are speaking of the hidden chest near the entrance to the Dawnstar mine that would be a bug. the chest actually belongs to the kajit traders. it is their inventory
