I know this isn't a mod you pay as much attention to, but this one mod has had such a huge impact on my ability to come back and enjoy this game that I figured I'd sing it's praises a bit. I got pretty much everything out of the game back in 2011/2012, like a lot of other people I'd expect. While many cool new mods have come out since then, the game was still largely the same. Mostly the same quests. Mostly the same mechanics. Mostly it was still just Skyrim. For me at least.

Not with this mod. With this mod I didn't need to rely on quests that I've done before to enjoy the game. It turns out Skyrim's world is really well suited to this kind of thing. Combined with all the survival mods that you would expect, this becomes an entirely new game. A fantasy zombie survival game is not something I'd have thought I'd enjoy, but it's kept me coming back to this game, so thank you for the hours of fun you've enabled me to enjoy and much luck with your future endeavors.

I'm interested in your idea of the game. What's your mod list for this?

I.. I know I am YEARS late to this response. Sorry about that. But hell, I'll finally expand on this the best I can. If I remember new stuff I'll edit it in.

From what I remember, the core of my setup was essentially Draugnarok, a few of the popular survival mods, a couple mods that allowed for some bare bones base-building, along with some others. It sounds like a generic setup, but I found it to be a profound experience as very little of the gameplay relied on vanilla content such as quests, dungeons, ect. The armies of the dead force you to live in the wilderness most of the time, which is it's own danger due to the survival mods. The idea is that you are never safe and always NEED something to persist, creating an new gameplay loop. Mod list as best as I can remember:

(the first few here are obvious choices so i won't explain their purpose)
      - Draugnarok
      - Frostfall
      - iNeed
      - Darker Nights
      - You Hunger (makes food scarce which forces you out into the world and into contact with the hordes)
      - (something that makes animals faster and harder to hunt)
      - Sokco's Guild Starter (this is included so you can gather some surviving NPCs instead of leaving them to die. see how many you can save? i wouldn't recommend actually using many of the guild functions since the world is supposed to be dying. if you setup along a road, you and your allies may come under attack by wandering draugr, which is aweosme)
      - Live Anywhere (can compliment the above mod. mainly useful for not having to venture into a town or village solely to use a crafting station)
      - True 3D Sound for Headphones (this in combination with "Skeletons of Daggerfall" makes roaming the woods in pitch black darkness actually kind of terrifying as you can accurately hear the packs of undead roaming around you, screeching their heads off. can also help to avoid them)

That's the gist of it, Again, not an extensive list. Like I said in my old comment, Skyrim is already surprisingly well suited to this kind of setup. If you or anyone actually responds to this, I'll try not to take two years to reply.

How would one start this mod in-game without having SkyUI (if it's even possible)? Unfortunately, SkyUI is causing CTDs for me and I'm having to play without it.

    Thanks,

    bocharuk

EDIT: oops, this was supposed to go in the Draugrnarok SE posts section. Nonetheless, I'll leave this here...

2 possibilities, one too many scripted mods in load order causing crash (unlikely). The other being irreconcilable record conflicts use xedit to fix.

Okay, this mod now has my attention and I am going to give it a try. Though, I think for me the way I will play this is rather than doing this at the 'Start' of a game... I will do it once I've completed my next playthrough and 'then' install it too send that playthrough out with a bang. Course, that's sort of the way I look at it... either put it in at the beginning 'already knowing' that you will not be able to actually complete the game... or do it at the end when you've done everything and wanna just cause some chaos. Because what I am wanting is the 'sole survivor' scenario... everyone is dead... Skyrim's done... now as the sole survivor you have to survive in the world of the dead. Put in things like iNeed or Realistic Needs and Diseases, Frostfall, campfire... things like that which will force you to go out foraging for supplies and putting you at risk of being attacked. There is another mod which is '28 days and a Bit 5' which is okay... but my issue was it was more focused on the cities. I'm looking for those scenarios where you could encounter them even in the wilds... and going to the major cities would probably be a bad idea. So your kind of forced into the wilderness rather than making these super chaotic last stands. If that's what this mod can offer I am totally interested in it. That was sort of the limitation on 28 days... it didn't really do anything in the wilds... just more or less sudden enemy kills in the city. Which can be fun... but I want the more wilderness survival feel to it. Plus, the way enemies spawned in 28 days seemed weird... they just came out of doors randomly... to me having them spawn in graveyards... or halls of the dead doors would have made more sense. Just created spawn points there... but, I guess that's me nit picking a bit. Anyway... going to track this and might put it in later when I do my next finished game.

I highly recommend doing it like you described, at the end of a playthrough. That's how I treated this mod when I was done with a character, and man is it a fun way to go out with a bang. To make it even more fun, you could throw Loot & Degradation in there (if you've done the playthrough with it, not sure how nicely L&D works when installing mid-playthrough).

I've moved onto SSE and I'm going to see about converting this for myself, since I was so used to ending playthroughs with this sucker installed. Should be fairly easy, don't see any dll's associated with it and not even any BSA's, so may just need to open it in the CK, save, and plop it in there.

Hey, I'm having trouble getting this mod to work. I can't install it on NMM because of issues with logging in (can't reach the log in server). I installed it manually and it shows up in the Data files on the launch menu but I can't see the mod in MCM. Am I doing something wrong? Am I supposed to download in with NMM only? Please help me on this I am really looking forward to play this mod it would be like rediscovering Skyrim but in a much more engaging way.

    Thank you

You've added a zombie apocalypse mod of course it's going to ruin your game.
"Be aware that Draugnarok will throw your whole game into chaos. Important people will die, cities will become battlefields, you could be forced to become a vagabond camped out in the middle of nowhere... where you hope it's still safe... but those are all reasons why you're downloading this mod in the first place, right?"

Why only draugrs? It would be cool to mix them with skeletons, some summoned by dragon priests, and some skeletal dragons. Just curious... Is there any chance of winning?
