I guess so , I never used better shaped weapons but I had seen that mod before, well that is possible because if you change the shape of weapon it may cause UV map position to change its too because UV map is the same coordinate of vertices
too bad. thanks for the reply. I have no skill to edit the mesh to match your glow maps. I've used BSW with a texture only replacer and worked fine. all I've ever done so far is edit meshes for dual sheath but that's pretty easy. thanks for the reply and i'll check back if anything changes. but one last question, are the UV map positions what apply the glow affect? and are those in the texture or mesh files? I assumed mesh because BSW only changes the meshes and that is why special meshes were provide for the older runed weapons.
well I don't understand your question so much ,this is what I got.
UV map is a faces map texture of weapon. The process is when you finished modeling and no more edition that's done. So ,the next thing you have got to do is Unwrap texture .
what is Unwrap texture -->Try google and type "blender unwrap" you will see more example to understand ,then after you unwrap them you will got a face map or what is you asking UV map
it's like you remove the skin of some animal and you place its on the ground. So what you have got to do is painting as you wish
but when you unwrap them you also need to bind it back to your mesh to but this is very simple than the process before but there are four layer for bind it back
1.xxxx.dds --> This is main texture files it would contain normal textures
2.xxxx_g.dds--> This is what you are looking for this a glow map to make it glow like you paint its
3.xxxx_n.dds--> I think this is normal map but it's not like xxxx.dds this contain bump map level or some thing I am not sure but most of its' you don't need to bother with tihs
4.xxxx_m.dds-->this is some of edge map or something like above you don't need to bother with this so much
So, the conclusion are 1.UV map is XY position of map but there are many node and edges which create loop and the loop is one of the faces in mesh I hope you should find google for more better understanding if you can see a picture it would better clear
but it's not something which apply glow map it's use to determine how to place a texture on mesh so when you change the shape you will need to unwrap and make a new map texture again
2.well it's not like it's in the mesh files so you can not edit them directly and if it can I don't think it would compatible with my texture you may end up in some state that can not edit no more.
but you can generate a uv map from mesh file that you want, each of every texture file is square texture but they did not contain uv map but its was create from the uv map so that's why it's compatible
you may need to open them in blender or 3dmax or maya in order to edit uv map to compatible with my textures
ok, just tried it with the BSW provided meshes, works. only issue is coloring on bow and axes. could be my ENB preset. thanks again for detailed responses. and if anyone else asks, the answer is it works with Better shaped weapons.
Thanks for tips ,actually I had that idea but for now I am practicing about texture and model but to do what you said I thinks it's require programming too and I had to make a .ESP too.May be later since I am gathering the idea to do next thing about that .
I shall give a try because I never use NMM for some reason that I forgotten for along time ago. but for now I would write installation method thanks for comment.

but about the cloak I wear is Dragon priest Cloak by cloaks of Skyrim http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12092/?
but for now I would write installation method
thanks for comment.
