+mnelson999 Fallout 4: I have opened my ini file and I see no reason this tool can not be very useful for any one playing the game on PC. I recomend this tool but it is hard for me to use because it does not comform to the color scemes in windows and I have to use High contrast Black for my bad eyes. I can invert the full screen magnifier but this caused me other problems. Please cosider a dark theme or comformint to the windows color themes.
I am glad to see this program still here. I am sad that it forces me to use a white screen with black text. Why are so many great tools not accessable? I have to have white text on dark background or I loose vision in a few minutes of looking. Hundreds of great applications ignore the color preferences of the user.
A seperate IniHelpFile.xml for each ini edited. This would make it much easier to work with other games and programs without getting Title/Descriptions mixed up. Would also make it easier for users to share inihelpfiles for various programs.
Able to better handle comments. Not in the Value text box. Maybe combined with Description or in it's own seperate box.
Unloading the backup file when an .ini is loaded. Currently, when loading an .ini from another program the backup file from the previous .ini is kept. Can be confusing.
Re/Opening the backup file associated with the ini upon load. For Example.ini, look for Example.ini_BACKUP and load it. Else prompt user to create one.
Ability to update the backup file. Maybe have two backups Example.ini_BACKUP and Example.ini_ORIGINAL.
Ability to resize the left column.
Customize Notepad button to point to prefered editor. I prefer Notepad++.
An .ini for the program's settings. Seems odd that an ini editor would use the registry.
That's not in any particular order. I should note that I found this program by searching for "ini editor" in google (without quotes). This was the second result. Would really like to use this program for editing most of my .ini files. Especially for programs like XYplorer (Alternative to Windows Explorer) which has over 1,700 lines in it's .ini.
I've just found this tool after doing some research of my own about what the various ini settings mean. Very nice.
Is it possible to add commandline switches to this so the executable can start up with either the ini(s) for a specific game loaded, or if the file open dialog could be set to the directory holding the ini(s) for each game.
e.g. I start this and load up the ini for Skyrim, do some fiddling around and close the program. Next I want to do the same for my Oblivion or Fallout 3 or Fallout NV and the file open dialog defaults to the last location.
This small change would make the process less cumbersome, IMO.
Smael, you bring up a good point. Unfortunately, Bethesda does not provide much detail on the INI settings values or descriptions. Most of the information that we know has been gleaned by the community through trial and error. The problem is that many sites already have some of this information, and reusing someone else's hard earned work would go against the community spirit.

For anyone that's interested, I've just uploaded v1.6, which primarily has these changes:
- Updated the display colors to support Windows High Contrast Themes. (Apprentice Harper)
- The Open Ini Dialog remembers the last location. (MistakenMystic)
- A separate IniHelpFile.xml for each ini edited. (narcissus)
- -- IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have an existing "IniHelpFile.xml" file, you will need to rename it so it can be found by the editor.
- -- EXAMPLE: For Skyrim.ini, rename your "IniHelpFile.xml" to "Skyrim_IniHelpFile.xml".
- -- EXAMPLE: For SkyrimPrefs.ini, rename your "IniHelpFile.xml" to "SkyrimPrefs_IniHelpFile.xml".
- Load the backup file when an .ini is loaded. (narcissus)
- Several miscellaneous tweaks and fixes.
Please let me know what you think, and Endorse if you find it useful. Thanks for the feedback on your use with Skyrim!
Yes, this will work perfectly with Skyrim Special Edition (as well as other Bethesda games like Fallout).
Best Regards!
If you can find a related INI file setting for those.
Otherwise, I'm thinking that those settings are probably only configurable via a mod, or a console command.
Best Regards!
Thx any way :/
It works perfectly with Skyrim SE
Best Regards!
Very reasonable request. I'll make this change for you; possibly by this weekend.
Best Regards!

Features that I would like to see added:

Thanks for trying the editor, and the kind feedback.
I will look into adding some of the suggestions that you mention, but not ETA for the next update though.
Best Regards!

For the suggestion, I like the idea. I'll add that to the next version; however, unfortunately no ETA for that yet. Might not be until January.
