After a quick and easy conversion (with Cathedral Assets Optimizer) these beautiful coins now look lovely in my SSE game! Wonderful, original design and craftsmanship.
Really great design. Maybe you should talk to Neovalen over at Coin Replacer Redux to add it to his mod or something? I prefer lore friendly coinage, so I am using his now, but your coin design is really awesome, and it would be great to have it somewhere in the game, albeit in a lore friendly way =)
Basically he swapped all coinage in Dwemer ruins/dwemer chests/automatons to Dwemer coins, and swapped all coiange in nordic ruins/nordic chests/draugr to nordic coins.
Thanks, that's great. So does this have multiple coin models that randomly appear as gold? I'm intrigued how you would do that. It looks great, I'll certainly take a look but I am also interested in your method.
I wonder if there's a way to have two types of currency on the go. Both worth 1g but any gold could randomly be either Septim or Nordic Gold.... Worth looking into.
^^^^^^^ This would be awesome! No idea how you'd do that though... Requiem made Septims have weight, changed their name to Septims and you can drop them if you want, so maybe some of the work in there could provide a clue as to how to implement this idea?
I have to agree it looks good but it isn't immersive, nords don't have their own look for septims (that's like saying people in new york have a different dollar then people in Florida) the septim is the world wide currency in tameriel to change the look in each province would be illogical as it would confuse people, could you imagine having a different septim for each province? that would be insane! anyways awesome mod none the less.
I knew there'd be a post about the lore unfriendliness of this on the first page That said, it isn't friendly to the lore, but honestly, who cares, the coins look good and if you want 'em in your game, great. Same if you don't! With that also said, I'm downloading, I'm endorsing, but other than to take a peak at how they look, I'm not using this, because it's not lore-friendly. I just love the artwork! Great job!
As of 5 minutes ago, (11/02/2014) I've updated to v2 - completely redid the textures from scratch. higher resolution, better normal and specular maps and a uniquely named cube map so hopefully no more issues with other texture mods. Thanks for feedback and help guys Hopefully you'll find the new version a good improvement.
A quick FYI for those using this mod with Skyrim 2K Textures:
It seems the CubeMaps included with Skyrim 2K are incompatible with the textures included with Better Gold. This creates black textures on the coins. If you rename and/or delete the textures/cubemaps directory within Skyrim 2K, the textures from this mod will show up fine.
I personally love the look of this coin, and have spent the last hour-and-a-half trying to resolve the black texture issue. I'm honestly not sure why this happens, nor am I sure of what effect the Skyrim 2K cubemaps have in game, but I am happy dumping them to use this new coin. Fantastic job!
UPDATE: A little more prodding allowed to discover the exact .dds file that conflicts with Better Gold's Texture.
Skyrim 2K has a file called "bronze_e.dds" in the textures/cubemaps directory. Renaming it or deleting it resolves the black texture issue. Hope this helps!
Its the environment map is it? Bronze_e.dd is what it currently uses but I can easily redo it with its own unique texture set and e map. I've just redone the normal map anyway for better depth on the faces.

Awesome. I loved your Morrowind and Oblivion work. Thanks for keeping the tradition going with Skyrim as well!
Endorsing as soon as I get home.
