This isn't lore. This is bad fanfiction that was left out of the game for a reason, that being it reduces the Thalmor and the Great War to the inane babbling of a conspiracy theorist.

That's why it is only a mod, for those who subscribe to more hostile interpretations of the Thalmor :)
I don't think it's canon either, although hinted in this direction. As for mod, I don't think that it can be characterized either as lore-friendly or lore-unfriendly.
How in Oblivion is it bad writing and not fitting in the lore? I truly do not understand, I would love to learn the corect understanding of this specific part of the lore from you.
@truesurvival22 Because it makes the Thalmor out to be generic villains. The Aldmeri Dominion had good, practical reasons for starting the Great War. But the war was never part of their plan, they just saw an opportunity and took it, same as what they're doing now. The opportunity to further weaken the Empire is there. In that sense you can see the Thalmor as villains because they want more even though they already won the war. But that's all they want, to rule (or at least influence) mankind, not to destroy it.
Never forget that Elder Scrolls lore is meant to be vague and contradicting. If a developer gives you a definite answer to something, he's wasted a perfectly good question. Plus the outlook of the altmer was never up to one developer to decide. That's probably why this piece of writing was rejected.
Love Kirkbride haters! He's still credited as a writer in Bethesda's games up to Skyrim, a lot of canon was either outright devised by him or based on his work. Pelinal is a time-traveling cyborg, and there's nothing you can do to change it. Furthermore, this particular work goes along well-established dogma of the elves, and is very much aligned with their supremacist bullshit.
Lol: 'Skyrim's' garbage-tier lore is bad fan-fiction, silly Todd fanboy. Obviously you don't understand Elder Scrolls lore at all, or you would have gotten the concepts the book speaks of right off the bat. Pre-Skylame and ESO Elder Scrolls lore is based heavily on Gnostic mysticism, among other various mystical and real-world religious elements. Of course, only a 'real' Elder Scrolls fan would understand this, as opposed to a vapid, trendy faux-fan like yourself.
You call me a Todd fanboy because you know nothing about me, so all you can do is make random insults and try to make me look bad. The game's lore was made by more than just him, but as a "real" TES fan I'm sure you already know that. You shouldn't take everything Kirkbride says as canon. You can't discuss canon with me when you don't even know the meaning of the word. Your account's gone but maybe you're reading this on a new one. In any case to anyone reading this:
“Remember that only things that have been published in Elder Scrolls games should be considered official lore.”
I may be a little late to the conversation, but honestly, I have to agree with whoever the deleted user was, as far as Skyrim being bad fan-fiction goes at least. Yes: Kirkbride is an insane crackhead: but he also has an incredible imagination (probably 'because' he's an insane crackhead, lol). Then again, there are rumors that at least a few of the early Elder Scrolls writers may have been getting their inspiration from mushrooms and possibly even acid.
As far as 'canon' vs 'non-canon' goes, my opinion on this is that whatever flows organically-enough with the lore and aesthetic of the fictional world presented is what should be counted as canon. Hence, my agreement with said user concerning Skyrim's jarring departure from previously-established Elder Scrolls lore and, again, aesthetics regarding Nord culture and religion, among other things.
This is absolutely essential lore - myself and a number of others have discussed this subject to death and came to these exact same conclusions. The Altmer are the true arch villains of Tamriel, and they wage war by deception, and do it slowly so the younger races don't suspect.
Do you plan to ever migrate this over to SE? If not, do you mind if I post a conversion and point back to you as author?
These "Damned elves" sound like Muslim extremists, lmao "to kill man is to reach heaven". But actually, physical reality is entangled in their existence so tightly that committing such an act will bring them out of Mundus and bring a noble restoration of their former existence as god-spirits. This, however, does not make sense when it comes to the fact that the Summerset Isles never attempted to exterminate man even before Shor/Talos establishing an empire, instead living as isolationists.
I just wanted to state that for y'all, hoping to get some kind of understanding of this specific part of the lore I don't have time to spend to find out on.
Hi, I made an alternate version of this mod that adds the book to some of the justiciars around Skyrim for those who want to read the book without pickpocketing it off an essential NPC. If you want I can send you the .esp.
isnt kirkbride the guy that got dismissed by bethesda after he went stupid and tried to make the high elves worship an android and go all cyberpunk on the lore?
He left the company long ago, right after Morrowind, although Bethesda still used some of his stuff in Oblivion and Skyrim. The "cyberpunkery" you describe is his recent development.
What happens if both Elenwen and Ancano are dead when I download the mod? I think it's a wonderful idea to make the Altmeri position more clear. They don't just want power.
Unfortunately, if their bodies are already cleared by the game engine, then the evidence of Thalmor apocalyptico-genocidal goals is gone forever. I guess I can add one lying in the Embassy, if there's a request.
The embassy have the bad habit of ending up closed of. However one of the "Unusal gems" used to be inside the embassy and was in a patch moved to a corpse of a mage that may have tried to escape the embassy. I simply suggest dropping of another copy to this corpse, or on the ground next to it.

Use an item add mod if you do not want to do any of the main quests or wait so long to read them.

the "KINMUNE" thing was just unreadably bad and bizarre, i'll give you that; but he's still a contracted writer on TES games, with writing credits.
