I get a black screen once it leaves the loading screen, as soon as I start the game up... nothing happens, but I can hear music and sounds as if it's working fine. Then I alt tab and open my processes to check it, and it says Skyrim isn't responding. Maybe the problem is because I have 2 cores and can't find the iNumHWThreads=4 to change it to 2?
I can't even find the "iNumHWThreads=4" to change the 4 to 2... what do I do? I would assume add it myself, but I have no idea what section it belongs in.
I'm having this same problem, but the mod author responded two years later with some incredibly vague and unhelpful explanation. He seems to know exactly what's wrong and how to fix it, and I think I understand what needs to be done in general concept, but I don't know how to actually do it.
Does anybody know what to do, and is able to explain?
Alternatively, can somebody just explain in noob terms how to get visual settings like this in a way that doesn't break the game? I don't need the color bloom or upgraded Ugrids, just the good shadows.
I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE .INI FILES ARE OR HOW TO EDIT THEM, SO DON"T *JUST* SAY "GO DO THE THING TO THE INI FILES" I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO ACCESS THEM FIRST AND I'M STILL FIGURING THAT OUT.
Use the eco-friendly version if you don't want 7 ugrids, or actually just down grade the ugrids to 5 in the .ini. Download the files manually

Right click the .ini and uncheck READ ONLY, then click APPLY. right click .ini open with=notepad Resolution H= W= Needs to be set manually to what ever your screen is. That's why you are getting black screens. ctrl + F to search ini by letters. "Ugrid"for instance. or "iNumHWThreads="Ugrid or Ugridstoload not tree ugrids tho.....
This is not really a mod, but a good idea of how to adjust your ini files to get quality shadows. I used some of the guidelines here in the description/provided files and added it to some google sleuthing and came up with some good shadows for my rig. It always bugged me how skyrim looked so great and the shadows were just not up to par. A few tweaks here and there and you're all set.
Be careful though! Save before you start messing with this stuff and back up your ini files. I recommend using something like Mod Organizer where you can have multiple profiles with different ini files so there is no risk to your core experience.
