I was hoping it would just fix the head tracking part. But it also changes a lot of other things. Like the height. So I can't use it with Height Adjusted Races.

This is a very useful mod to anybody creating Vampires in the c-kit. As stated any Vampire changing mod can overwrite the unofficial Dawnguard patch fixes if used. Therefore When using a mod that affects Tintmasks, usually to fix the grey face bug that can occur on Nord and Breton Vampires etc the Altmer head track can bug out again. This mod completely fixes this.
Excellent work trukittn, thank you and Kudos!.

It seems to make my face really ugly but it works, is there a way around this.

That's very weird. You can see my altmer vampire in the screenshots, and I used this alongside a vampire appearance mod that fixed the vanilla ugly. The only thing I can suggest is experimenting with load order and any appearance changing mods you have. I had no conflicts with this at the bottom, and it really shouldn't be changing anything on the player at all so I'm stumped.

really irritated now. i found this fix, and it seemed to explain why my altmer vampire doesnt work with player headtracking.

except this does not fix it. my alterm vampire STILL cannot head-track, even with this mod right at the very absolute bottom of the load order. is it some conflict with better vampires?

    any ideas?

EDIT: i found out that Unique - DLC Dawnguard over-rides this, even if this comes after it in the load order. can you tell me what specific changes to make to that .esp so that i can have both work? what is the "simple fix" that your .esp does?

Dawnguard is an ESM not a ESP and cannot overwrite any mod that is below it, the bottom will always take precedence.

I know this reply is a looong time overdue. But so it goes when I move on from the game I was modding. Hmmm~ I used a player headtracking mod that made the player look at whatever the mouse was hovering over and my Altmer vampire had no trouble looking around with it. This mod doesn't alter or fix anything with the player character.

I call it a simple fix because it took all of 5 seconds to make this mod. ^^; In vanilla Dawnguard Skyrim, the Altmer vampire race had the Head Track option unchecked and thus disabled. All this mod does is put a check in the box.

@myztikrice The Unofficial Dawnguard patch does fix the bug (as I mentioned in the description), however Better Vampires and likely any other wide scope vampire mod will re-apply it, as those mods can't see the changes made by that patch unless they "slave" their mod to it - which would then require everyone who downloads those other mods to also download the patch in order for their game to work. Granted, its an easily fixed issue on its own as well, but some modders prefer not to tweak vanilla settings, as is the case with Better Vampires, which results in this flip-flopped bug when using that mod with the patch installed.

This is just an easy fix for those who don't have/want the unofficial patch, or those who are using mods like BV alongside it.

Anyway, for the record, I use Better Vampires and a few Vampire appearance modifiers. Rest assured, it neither conflicts with nor overrides any of the lovely changes they made when loaded after them. Of course, if a conflict is found, I'll be sure to include it on the description.

Brilliant! I was just thinking of doing the same thing - it is such a strange oversight on Beth's behalf: it took a lot of digging before I came across what is in the end a simple fix. I have found this works best somewhere at the bottom of the load order (at least after Player Headtracking & whatever Vampire mod you use), giving it the last word without conflicting or being overwrit by other vampire/altmer mods. Well played and thanks for putting this up. Worth making a link in the Player Headtracking comments?

Thanks! Yeah, really such an easy thing to fix, makes me sad that it was never taken care of in an official patch, since I'm a little ocd about having a bunch of tiny mods but, I'm even more ocd about characters not looking at me when I talk to them. Yanno, I never thought to look up player headtracking since I play in first person most of the time, but it'd be great for screenshots. I'm gonna check it out now. ^^

it should've been fixed in the unofficial patch, and putting this at the bottom will override any vampire changes another mod might have made, it should be up to them to include the tag
