I like the mod and you did a great job with the enchantment but I think you should do a different texture instead of copying one. You know so it makes it more unique. But, nonetheless I love the idea and you did a great job.
uh.... this is probably a stupid question but.... why are the pictures in the gallery labeled opposite of what they appear to be showing and moreover are called gold and 'black' while on the front page you refer to gold and silver? I'm going to assume if I download a 'silver' file it's actually going to look like the sword that is labeled 'gold' in the pictures but which actually looks black/dark grey.... yes?
You are correct. The pictures are misnamed and I never bothered to change them. Black was a working title (before I decided silver was more apt since it uses silver ingots to temper). Still, mislabeled.
If I'm not mistaken, I was the first (at least on the Nexus and Workshop forums) to suggest an enchantment that scaled with dragon souls. I'm glad to see more mods that incorporate that idea, and I'm also glad to see that people are adding their own twists to the idea, such as your % damage increase. None so far have been an exact copy of my suggestion, though, which is a little disappointing.
My original suggestion was this: Deals 'x' magic damage, equal to the Dragonborn's number of unspent dragon souls.
Only one mod has incorporated this, but it necessitates a shout and sets a needlessly low limit on the damage. You already have my endorsement, but if you could implement my original idea, I would be very pleased. :3
I love the idea of "legacy" gear (ala 3.5 d20) and I wanted to incorporate that into Skyrim since it seemed to fit with the idea of Dragonborn. I originally considered scaling it with level (more faithful to the legacy weapon concept) but I wanted something more interesting and, again, better fitting with the idea of being Dragonborn. So I tossed around some other ideas but nothing seemed quite right so I went to Creation Kit Wiki and started looking at different actor values (since I didn't want to do any more scripting than I had to) and once I saw that the current number of unspent dragon souls was actually an actor value, it became an easy choice! After all, the Drgonborn becomes more powerful as she absorbs dragon souls, no?
It's not an enchantment, and that was by design. I wanted the ability to add in-game enchantments since the idea of the weapon is that (as a gift from Akatosh) it is directly bonded with the Dragonborn and becomes more powerful as she does. The effect is gained by adding an invisible perk (given to you by an invisible quest that is automatically completed once you load a game for the first time with this mod installed).
The perk increases your damage by the percentage specified IF you have this sword equipped. I did that, rather than adding a flat amount like the straight number of dragon souls, because this damage boost /also/ applies to spells wielded in the other hand while this sword is equipped! This way, if you're using a balance mod that increases or decreases damage, the mod will seamlessly scale accordingly so long as it is loaded FIRST (rather than last). Keep in mind that the increase is a percentage of weapon damage, not a percentage of souls.
I'm sorry to all of you that it's been so long since I've been around. The non-armor boost versions /are/ coming soon. That's easy, I'm just absent minded and I really haven't had time. I haven't had a chance to even play in almost 2 months. :-(
Anyway, I didn't want anyone to think I was ignoring this mod.
Lolik_Khan - Yes! This will work with Requiem. However, in its current form it rather goes against the purpose of Requiem IMHO so I wouldn't recommend it. Wait for the version which doesn't increase armor. That should give you a more faithful Requiem experience.
Hopefully I can steal a few hours to add the 2H variants and the non-armor boosting versions this weekend. I never expected this mod to even achieve this modest level of popularity. Thank you everyone! :-D
