It has been two years so I do not remember the exact location, but I can tell you that is in the winds district of Whiterun, sitting next to a wall. If you still have trouble finding it just post the note and I should remember the location. Have fun.
I think this mod was a good idea, i enjoyed having a puzzle that didn't have big arrows showing me the answer. That said, the hints were rather misleading and obscure, (btw, note 5 is SOUTH of grand stairway NOT WEST). So note/clue quality could be improved. However this quest is lore-friendly, like when I got to end, I realized who the note-maker actually is: some rich-kid who felt like wasting the new guy's time, (took me 4 days). This is a good idea for a mod, you should capitalize on it and step up your game, 'cause in a year I think puzzles like this are gonna be a trend. This one was a bit of a miss for me, but I Will download your 2nd Mod whenever it comes out.
it didn't to me either, but horses have manes, it's word-play. consider what and Where the first conversation between NPC's takes place as you first arrive in whiterun.
Here is another hint. The note references a conversation between a Empire supporter and another that happens right after you enter Whiterun, the note should be near where the two people were talking. If you still cannot find the note come and ask for more help and I will help you.
Um... I'm not sure if I'm just not seeing the note, or what, but I can't find the one that note 4 references... it's to the south of the first dragon tower, right?
Note 5 is not south of the tower where you fight your first dragon. Note 4 does read " a tower from whom smoke rises" which could bring you to think of a tower that was attacked but it also reads "but no battles rage" so we know the tower is not smoking because of battle.
Now we must also think about how the word tower can be used to describe any structure or part of a structure that is much taller than it is wide or long.
Another fact we must remember is the note was written at a different time so smoke might not be rising from the tower at this time but because the note mentions smoke we know the tower has to do with smoke.
If you start looking right from the fire referenced in the first directions on the note you will see the tower but remember the hits I have given you here. Also all the notes are in the city Whiterun so do not leave the main gates. Good luck finding "Your Precious" and have fun.
Note 2 does say "once friendly horse". The horse part is a reference to a name, the name has to do with part of a horse, so horse was a way to refer to the person in a non direct way; it was not meant in any rude way. The friendly part refers to how the families of the people mentioned once felt about each other but no longer do.
Note 2 was not my best note, but this mod is my first attempt at a note based mod so it can be expected that some may be not that great.
Have fun on the small quest and remember it is just a fun little quest that still fits with lore.
I like the idea of the mod, and I appreciate that this is your first attempt. Just didn't catch on to the pun. I spent more time than I care to admit reading the in-game books to find a story where someone has a falling-out with their horse
On that topic, Note 3 has me baffled. I've searched a certain location in Whiterun that seems to be the obvious choice for the 4th note and haven't found it. Am I just dense?
Many of the notes are hard because I based them off of conversations and little unusual unimportant items. Have you found a skeleton floating in a pool of water? If you have, look on the bridge right above it. If you have not yet found the skeleton, look under all bridges in the city of Whiterun tell you find the skeleton. Then look on the bridge.
From what I am reading my quest is quite hard, I should raise the value of the reward and maybe improve the notes.
I'm not giving you an F or A. (RobertReagle should have tried to explain why he/she/it gave " you a big F. " ) What i like : the mode encourage players to use brains once in a while (not that the Holy-Great-American-Immigrants have 'em anyway) What i do not like : The hints were misleading. The NPC's the mod suggested were not horses nor did they have any connection to horses whatsoever. I'd suggest to try some alternative hints. The hint with the smoke and the tower were completely misleading. Tower might not be the highes point, the structure of towers are different etc. When i founnd the note i thought : "Damn this crap. It should have been something like "south side of the building where the annoying screamer rests his head and sleeps" or something like that " . They hints may have been more accurate when in your native language or what ever language you're THINKING with. It is difficult to understand and to explain. Anyways, try to add the alternative hints that are more into the game world (hard to explain), and use sentences that may be more understandable to foreigners of any kind (every language is different thus the way of thinking and building up ideas and thoughts are different too). I know its fucked up how language we're thinking with affects our thinking (like the translated jokes aint funny etc). Other than that, after finding the last note... I dont know. There were talk of ome treasure or an item or whatsoever, but after i went THERE and found the last note... nothing. CaptainRC did say something that the price was "cute" buuut no price for me anyway. Maybe they hate me, maybe i overlooked something. Maybe there was no price afterall. Maybe the price was the brainwork we had? But that cant be cute (well, maybe).
Thank you to all who have tried my mod so far and I am glad to hear that many of you have enjoyed it. I did not expect to get so many people trying my mod. I may complete another mod before I will be incapable of working on mods do to obligations, I would like to hear some advise on what I could do better with the notes for my next mod and what else would make my next mod great.
