Amusingly, the word "retard" itself was a replacement for formal terms that had become offensive. Now since "retard" has picked up negative connotations, its been replaced with "intellectually disabled". Which I'm guessing will probably also become too offensive, given some time. Seems rather cyclical, doesn't it?
More amusingly, all these terms really mean the same thing, so its the meaning that seems to really be bothering folk- so they mask it with friendlier sounding terms. Just my take it on the matter.
As for the actual mod.... well.... it needs an in-depth romance option and compatibility with New Vegas Bounties IV and Pac Man. Tis truly necessary.
Retarded I guess is better than Mental Challenged the Companion or ... Special Lizard the Companion heh ... but seriously ... maybe just name him Slow (Name here) the Companion. These days, folks are very very very very sensitive; so if you want your mod taken seriously; best avoid using a word like Retard as a proper noun.
