This is for people who enjoy reversing the endian of Form IDs in their heads. Bonus points if they get a rush from seeing an ESP loaded, an inadvertently-added CELL record deleted, and the change recompressed and saved before the Enter key makes it back to the top of its stroke.
I think ESP Scalpel is a good choice for tasks that one might wish they could use a hex editor for but be unable to due to the lack of group length recalc and de/compression, but I don't see it being chosen for tasks over any existing ESP editors - especially because it's a command-line only utility. Both of the people who will be into it probably already know who they are. I've included C source code, which demos fast file loading and use of the zlib source, so it's my hope that something in there might be useful to other toolmakers as well.
