Does what your preferred destruction element is do anything? I went through all the wealth options and picked magic > destruction > and a random elemental preference But I didn't notice any difference. I was expecting to start out with different spells or something but I only ever had the default spells for my race.
I wish I could get this to work, it seems like such an awesome way to start the game...but as soon as I try to use the bed my game freezes. I do not know what is causing the conflict or what might be the problem, but it is very frustrating.
Same here. Try opening the console and typing "showquesttargets" (without the quotation marks). This should give you the name of the single quest that's currently running, i.e., this mod's quest. (It's the one whose name starts with "PSCharacter..." and then something.) Next, type: "setstage [quest name you just looked up] 90". This should end this mod's character creation quest and transport you to your starting location.
Other than this slight hiccup at the start, the mod works really well, and I like this way of starting the game. It's immersive, and the starting cell and letter are so well done.
In TES5Edit, if I copy the dialog topic from the Dawnguard esp over to the main esp and add Dawnguard as a master, I should be able to drop the Dawnguard esp, right?
Hi and thanks for the mod! I noticed that when I started a new game with this mod, there was no journal entry/quest for "Before the Storm". As obsessive-compulsive as it may seam, I can't ignore this tiny detail. I don't care about the first main quest '"Unbound" (since avoiding that start is what this mod is all about), but I would love it if it was possible to make the second main quest show up in my journal during & after completion. Is it also possible to fix the wrong journal entry upon completion after going directly to the Jarl, since in vanilla it says that Alvor or Gerdur sent me, even though I haven't even talked to them?
If you downloaded the file yesterday, you don't need to download the new version -- I had uploaded it without changing the version because I had barely edited the text of a line of dialogue in the Dawnguard plugin to comply with the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch. I remembered today that I had also made some changes to the main .esp file and so a version change was warranted.
The only thing that changed with the upload today was the updated ReadMe file. Everything else is the same.
just found this mod and been using LAL for ages now what do i do lol i got the hunterborn mod on and build yr oun home and been playing like a hunter for a while might just have to get rid of LAL and try this mod and like someone said maybe change name this mod to an alternet start kind of thing only came by this one as i just put yr DB mod on and looking in yr files
Dropped LAL for this.. just 1 tiny request, make torch in ship brighter during char creation? Its a bit dark so its kinda hard to see different color changes.
Are you using an ENB or a lighting overhaul? Because I actually had opposite thoughts -- that the light was preternaturally bright, too bright for a cabin, and made everything look somewhat washed out...

I like it even better than Live Another Life! Endorsed!

You'll only get the quest in the journal if you speak to Alvor or Gerdur and deliver the news to Balgruuf for them.
