I know it's been said, but I instructed military personnel on how to pick locks and I can attest that any novice locksmith can look at a lock and tell you how many pins it contains (difficulty to pick).

I can pick a 4 pin lock without using specialized tools. Which I am proud of. But most locks that cost under $150-$200 can be broken/picked VERY easily.

    Google "Bump keys".

Regardless, that was just for the "Psychic" comment

I still love and use the mod!

Well sure, but you clearly have some skills and knowledge of lockpicking. The average civilian wouldn`t have had a clue before you came along and showed them, unless the lock just looked tough. I know I certainly didn`t. Every lock (in real life) was hard to break from an untutored pov.

Of course, once you know, then it becomes easy to do the cheap ones.

Locks in real life look different though. The exact same looking locked door in Skyrim can be novice, expert, etc. There is actually no way of knowing at all.

It would be cool if knowing the difficulty was tied to your lock picking skill. The better you get, the higher difficulty you can infer.

Would be cool if this mod was actually vanilla and there was an optional lockpicking skill to see the difficulties of a lock in the skill tree

Hi! I have a little problem with this mod, and I'd love to use it since, well, it makes total sense. With this mod activated, all other Empty containers are missing the little diamond icon besides the Empty word. And I really want my little diamond icon :P but if it's not coming back, at least, center the Empty word properly? Thank you so much :D

Can`t play without mods like this any more. The little ones that people don`t appreciate. Can`t stand everything being made stupidly "convenient" like knowing something is empty without even looking into it with no explanation how or knowing how tough a lock will be without even trying it (unless it clearly looks very tough). Thankyou.

After some detective skills i found that this mod has compability issues with "Simple Crosshair by Shadow771 " (some futures not working at all)

Mod looks great and want to try it. Along with actual skilled locksmiths that can judge a lock and know its complexity and design. I think along with this, there should be perks synergized under the lock picking tree, maybe merged with the main perks; novice locks, apprentice locks, adept locks etc... For example if you get the perk novice locks (novice locks are easier to pick) by having that perk you will then know what locks are novice locks and it scales with each perk ascending. So if you don't get any perks you don't know, this will make it more realistic and immersive on top of how much it already is. Good job

Uhm not to be an annoyance ...because I was using this mod And it WOrks Great!!
But I just found out through a lockpicking book(skill book) in game the reason that you can tell the level of lock is the materials its made out of.
Lol Just started reading all the in game books Sorry

Sweet mod ! Knowing the difficulty of the lock gave me pointers on how wide/narrow I could play with the tumbler. Now it's all "in the dark" so its much more immersive.

Never even gave this issue a second thought until I came across this mod. Great idea for increased immersion and difficulty.

What would be awesome too is if it showed you the difficulty only after you've leveled up in lockpicking enough that it is considered an "easy" lock to pick, like a thief getting better at identifying different types of locks.

I just mentioned this mod to my lad saying it's a good idea to have in game... Yup he agreed, But, as you gets better at lock picking you are going to recognize many types of lock and know their difficulty level... so perhaps a branch on the lockpicking tree could activate a percentage chance of recognition.
Either way I'm downloading this now and look forward to using it...Thankyou jackstarr.
