This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! I love it. Also no performance hit whatsoever even with the 4k textures. My rig is good but it's not like epicmode or anything so I was expecting an FPS drop but nope, still a solid 57-60 even with this and a TON of other 4k mods installed!

A single texture isn't going to drop your FPS.

"Enhanced Vanilla".. absolutely. This is not a UHD texture, just an upscale, altough they look great from the distance. Close enough to loot you see the pixels and its kinda dissapointing. I will track this btw, maybe you can surprise us with a new texture pack.

Does this work with SE? Will oldrim texture mods work on SE?

I really like the dragons, but the bones seem to be a little low of quality for something you walk close to to loot. Also, it might be a bit to ask, but I haven't seen anyone else touch the dirt debris left after a dragon falls to the ground. Really awesome mod though! Its my favorite dragon texture mod. Endorsed.

I know I'm late to reply, but maybe this will help others. There is in fact a HD mod for those "skidmarks" now:

There are also the Rustic series of Dragon bones that you can obviously use independently of any dragon retexture. I really recommend them. He has a clean bone version and one with muscle and sinew still attached to the dragon. I really recommend them to go along with these textures.

as Halendia explained, personnally I just used TFC 1 command to go check them up close, it's a very low res texture resized and with 2 pretty horrible filters put on them giving a not bad but totally fake hd look at mid-long-range, other than that at melee distance its actually worst than hi-res pack, or all the retextures I tried... bellyaches HD deadly dragon replacers looks better and have some kind of wet effect on some and "skyrim ultra HD texture pack" even better (the best dragon retex), and their size and vram usage is also lower than this mod here, the skeleton from this mod is also bad, I tought my game bugged and was only showing a half-res model....try the skyrim ultra hd one you'll see what good looking mean, skyrim ultra hd texture pack contains the best dragon skeleton retext out there and I tried every file on 70pages of retextures from nexus !
btw those screenshots look amazing but ingame it's quite another story they move..a lot so you don't see all those pseudo-scales what you see is the low res of what's under that black grid, it is a nice idea tough and if someone did the same treatement to a higher-res base texture it could look awesome

Let me rephrase myself, since me and a lot of people expressed a lot of feelings about these textures, but were humbly deleted:

I noticed some minor flaws in the textures ingame, but upon opening them in Photoshop (to compare DLed mods to the new Dawnguard dragons) I realized this is just an upscale of the original with default filters like "Craquelure" and a "Stained Glass" overlay.

Presented here is a part of the "ultra" texture together with 2 pieces of dragon skin that I've pasted said filters on (Craquelure and Stained glass (this took me less than 5 minutes, mind you)).

Now IF you see a similarity and care for whether you waste your machine's resources on upscales or not (because 4096*8192 aren't kind on the vram), this is NOT the mod for you.

If you still think it's fantastic, then, by all means, don't let me stop you.

    Thanks man. Much needed.
EDIT: I agree the wings could be a bit more "Leathery". Maybe blur over the filter a bit in that area, and tone the specular down a touch in the same areas (if you decide to do spec maps), so the light diffuses out more and looks a little drier (using a bat wing for reference). Just an opinion.

Even as stands, this is the best vanilla dragon texture re-placer on the nexus. I frankly don't care if it was filtered and sharpened or not. It's not the process that matters, it's the end result, what I see in game, not what I see in PS. If you can make a better product in less time, good job for working smart.

When it comes to other vanilla dragon replacers, there really is no comparison. If people want their dragons to look like plastic toys with over saturated diffuse maps and ridiculously contrasting color schemes, that's their choice. Of course, this is only my personal opinion.

It looks amazing in game, and that is all that matters. Again, thank you for this and good luck in your future endeavors. I hope to see more of your work soon. Endorsed.
