Audio Overhaul for Skyrim (AOS) v2.5.1 is out!

For a complete list of changes in AOS v2.5.1,
please see here, or click on the CHANGES tab, above.

If you have compatibility questions, please visit the AOS2 Compatibility Forum, where you
can view a compatibility list, including a list of all patches included with the AOS installer
and a quickguide on how to merge all of your compatibility patches.

Users who are new to AOS are encouraged to also
read through the description page, particularly the FAQ section.

Updating to AOS 2.5.2 is highly recommended for users of AOS v2.5 or v2.2 - and besides fixes and changes, the
download now features a new AOS "Smart" Installer that sets install options by checking for other mods' active plugins
in your load order. It will also give useful warnings if there are any potential conflicts or incompatibilities.
However, the manual installation method is still available as a choice in the first menu of the installer.

UPDATE on 12 August 2015: The main and update downloads have been updated with a new improved installer,
which should be even more user-friendly with clearer description, information, and warning text. Make sure to
carefully read the detailed descriptions for any options selected - especially if you get a warning menu.

Mod Organizer users please note: Before installing, MO's (internal) FOMOD Installer must be set to
enabled=true and prefer=true in Settings > Plugins > Fomod Installer (control-click here for screenshot).

Upgrading to AOS 2.5.1 from version 2.5 or 2.2
First, download the much smaller AOS 2.5.1 Update Installer. Then, if using Nexus Mod Manager, follow these steps:
    Spoiler:
    Show
    1. Make sure AOS v2.5/v2.2 is still installed and active.

    2. Double-click the downloaded v2.5.1 update and you will see this dialog box:

    3. Click the [No] button, and the AOS Installer will start.

    4. Choose whether to use the new AOS "Smart" Installer or the manual installation method, and then go through the menus to select the AOS plugin version and any compatibility patches to install.

    5. In the last installer menu, when you click [Finish], you will see this dialog box:

    6. Click the [Yes to all] button to overwrite any old files with new ones from the AOS 2.5.1 installer.
If using Mod Organizer, follow these steps:
    Spoiler:
    Show
    1. For the AOS installer to work correctly, in Settings > Plugins, the (internal) FOMOD Installer must be set to enabled=true and prefer=true as seen here:

    2. Make sure AOS v2.5/v2.2 is still installed and active.

    3. In the Downloads tab of MO's right-hand pane, double-click the downloaded v2.5.1 update to run the installer.

    4. Choose whether to use the new AOS "Smart" Installer or the manual installation method, and then go through the menus to select the AOS plugin version and any compatibility patches to install.

    5. In the last installer menu, when you click [Install], you will see this dialog box:

    6. Click the [Merge] button to overwrite any old files with new ones from the AOS 2.5.1 installation.
NOTE: It is completely 100% safe to update to AOS v2.5.1 from v2.5 or v2.2, using either the full or update installer, as long as there are no changes to your load order. All compatibility patches in AOS 2.5.1 have the exact same names as in AOS v2.5/v2.2, so during installation, you should choose the same patches as before to replace them with the new AOS 2.5.1 versions of each patch.

If you install any new patches that weren't installed before, or you decide to remove and/or merge any patches, this will result in changes to your load order. Loading an old save file to continue an in-progress game after adding / removing plugins or changing your load order is absolutely NOT recommended, and doing so can result in possible instability or issues with quests, events, etc. from other third-party mods not working as expected.

However, if you choose to continue a game after any changes to your load order, you should in the least re-build your Bashed Patch in Wyre Bash (if you use one), and re-build any SkyProc-based patches you are using (eg., SkyRe's ReProccer.esp, PerMa's Patchus Maximus.esp, Requiem's Reqtificator.esp, etc.) before loading your old save.

Thanks for trying out Audio Overhaul for Skyrim!

    Dear AOS users,

For more than a year and a half, I've been helping LoRd KoRn out with support and updates for AOS. On September 1st, I am relocating from Hanoi, Vietnam back to the USA. I honestly will have no time to do anything Skyrim modding-related while I get myself settled and reestablished, so I will only be able to check the AOS comments thread or Nexus PMs very very little until sometime in October. Please also note that LoRd KoRn is also extremely busy, and won't have much chance to check the comments thread either.

This means that AOS v2.5.1 will be the last update for quite some time. However, I will try my best to make a video tutorial on how to make a custom AOS + weather mod patch using TES5Edit, using a customizable "template" patch plugin that I'll put in the optional downloads section.

We thank you for your support, patience and understanding - happy Skyriming!

    - keithinhanoi (not the author of AOS)

Your game crashes when it tries to start, or your saved game crashes when loading? Does it give an error or just Crash to Desktop (CTD)?

There is no need to choose. You can use both of them together.

ISC is supposed to overwrite some AOS files and it is supposed to be loaded after AOS. Other than that, they work together out of the box, no patches  needed.

I don't seem to get any reverb in any interior even without the reverb reducer optional installed.
