"If anyone knows how to fix this, please tell me!"
the dark face bug, actually isn't a bug - you need to open the CK with your esp and just highlight your NPC (one click) then press CTRL + F4 to export your facedata to your skyrim directory and close CK. then include these files in your mod: Data\Textures\actors\character\facegendata\facetint\ "your plugin name folder" Data\Meshes\actors\character\facegendata\facegeom\ "your plugin name folder" no mismatched body/faces! GL.
then you need "administrator rights" to the CK, as Windows V/7/8 may disallow writing files to anything it feels the need to be protected. go to your CreationKit.exe and right-click properties and tick "Run as Administrator" apply, OK. and try again
also what can prevent this, "Use Facegen Preset" option is ticked on. just untick this, go OK, select NPC again and CTRL+F4, prolly work this time you can tick "Use Facegen Preset" back on after this, or just close CK (as nothings changed)
and remember, dont go CTRL+F4 while NPC window is open, you go back to the "actors" list and just highlight your NPC and do it. (always click "yes to all" or "ignore" to any pop-up windows in the CK)

I found the 'Use Facegen Preset' and unchecked it, did the ctrl+f4 thing and now it works! I put all the files you said into the .zip and hopefully it should work for others thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it!!
