    V2.3 is here!

V2.3 fixes all known V2.2 issues, adds a few hundred new lines, and adds more whistle functionality. See the change log and the whistling section of the description page for more info.

FAQs and info for older versions of Inigo can be found in the forums section under 'FAQ and info for earlier versions of INIGO'

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update instructions

    • 1. Get him out of the control of other mods (UFO, AFT, etc) and make sure he isn't riding, waiting, relaxing, or following Vilja.
    • 2. Save the game using the Save menu and then quit to the desktop.
    • 3. If you previously used Inigo on Steam remember to unsubscribe from the workshop version.
    • 4. Replace the Inigo.esp and Inigo.bsa files with the new versions.
    • 5. For those that use any kind of patcher, ASIS etc, be sure to re-run your patcher.
    • 6. Restart the game and continue from the save you made.
Step 1 is the critical part. He is completely removed from the standard game factions, if other mods (including Vilja) are still trying to affect him then they are going to get confused when he's no longer in those factions. It's fine if he is actively following you, sitting in the Riften jail, or even walking back to the jail.

NOTE: When you next save your game do not overwrite the save you created in step two. Make a new one so you can always go back if something goes wrong. This is a good idea when installing any mod.

Papyrus log activity when updating - When upgrading an existing save game there will be a second or two of scary looking Papyrus log activity. Worry not. This is normal and after saving all future loads should be message free.

SMF users - If you want to use both Inigo and kuertee's Simple Multiple Followers mod you need to turn off the SMF feature that automatically detects all teammates as followers. More info near the top of the description page beneath the update procedures.

    WHEN IS V3 COMING???

I'm currently working on V3 (where Inigo's quest will continue and end). If I have to stop for some unexpected reason this post will disappear. V3 is massive. It will take as long as it takes. If you ask when it's coming out you will just be referred to this message.

You can find V3 preview material at http://friendsofinigo.com/exclusive_v3_preview_material

Hello, first of all I just wanted to say I am a HUGE fan of this mod. I started a new playthrough with Inigo and it's been amazing. Sadly after several hours into my playthrough with Inigo working flawlessly, he's now no longer following me, instead he interacts with the objects around him, eats, sits down, etc. I didn't install any additional mods since I started my playthrough, and all mods were kept in the same load order. The issue happened right after I had completed the last Companions quest. Inigo just left my side and started roaming around the lower quarters of Jorvenskaar, sitting down, eating, etc. I've tried telling him "I need you to do something..." and have him wait somewhere, then ask him to follow me again, no luck. I've tried emergency summoning him to me in Riften, but he just ports to Riften and then walks away from me and starts sitting down, eating, etc. Is this a known bug and might there be a way to fix it? I would very much like to have Inigo back, hands down the best follower mod ever! :(

Either something's off with his own relaxing/sandboxing or he is forced into it by another mod. Since it's Skyrim first thing to try is loading an older save before that happened and see if the problem occurs again. And select Inigo in the console and type "sv" and hit enter, it shows all variables attached to him. You can scroll through the results with page up/down, this may give an answer to what grabbed him.

Inigo's sandboxing only kicks in when he is told to relax, unless something else is trying to control him. There are several mods out there that force followers to sandbox. Checking with 'sv' is a good idea, as it should show what has grabbed control of him. Do you use Campfire? If so, there is a rare glitch, where if you pack up camp WHILE your follower (any follower) is using any of the camp furniture, they can get stuck in the sandboxing-around-the-camp state that Campfire imposes on them. If that is the case, you just need to make camp again, in a safe area, give it a minute or two, then make sure that Inigo is NOT using any of the camp furniture before packing up camp again. If it is some mod other then campfire, tell us which (once you find out with 'sv'), and we may know a way to get you untangled from it. It would be something in the list that does not have 'Inigo' in the name of it. Or, as falki said, just go back to a save from before something grabbed him.

Thank you both so much for your help figuring this out!! Below are screenshots of what I see when I click on Inigo and type in "sv" in the console. I do have campfire, strangely at the time when Inigo stopped following me, it was after my character climbed into bed to sleep (I'm using iNeed and Go to Bed), Inigo just started walking away from me

The result of "sv" is usually much longer than can be displayed so you need to scroll through the results with page up/down. If you use Campfire, try Eolhin's suggestion first, if it was/solves the issue you don't need to stop a quest or something via console. Otherwise look for something that doesn't include the term Inigo and let us know.

EDIT: iNeed has a follower needs system, I never used it personally though so not sure if it could be involved. I don't know the go to bed mod but it seems player exclusive.

Eeek, spoiler tags might be in order (the images are just big). I am not seeing the results of the 'sv' command there... though I do see that you have MFG Console (great mod). Just to be clear...

Open the console (~), select Inigo with the mouse and type:

      sv

Then hit enter. The sv command should show if Inigo has been nabbed as an alias for another mod. You'll probably need to use the page up key to see all the info. The quests with aliases from the Inigo mod should all have 'Inigo' in them. If there are others listed there (other than the AAE quests which are from Vilja and are also safe) take note of them, and list them here. (It may be a mod that has a built in way to fix the problem.) We are interested in the lower half of the screen when in console mode. The upper half is all information from MFG, which, while useful, is not what we are interested in right now. When you put in the sv command, you should see it on the screen, and when you hit enter, a bunch of stuff will scroll past, which you need to use Page Up to go back and see all of. I hope that is clearer.

      Edit: Hi falki!

I don't know if iNeed or Go to Bed have any functions that try to grab followers, or make them relax when you go to sleep, but it is possible. Hopefully, 'sv' will tell us which mod is grabbing him.

Ohh gotcha, thank you!! I tried again using the the Page Up/Down buttons and found the following in the console that don't have "Inigo" appended to any of the scripts. It's strange, I also went back to the save file where my character went to sleep, woke up and Inigo was no longer following, and now he's no longer walking away. It's almost like something conflicted with his script in that instance and then when I loaded the save file again today, maybe the other script wasn't running? Might there be a way to reset Inigo in my current save file? And unfortunately since I'm inside Jorvaaskar I can't build a campfire on non-terrain so I can't test that fix :( But I had not built a campfire in a looong time, and Inigo was working perfectly since the last time I built a campfire :( Thank you both so much!

If you look at the 5th page down, it looks like two things have currently grabbed him. Mind you, not everything that grabs him temporarily is bad (Campfire works fine with him the vast majority of the time), it is when it won't let go that problems happen. The relevant lines are:
      Papyrus - Alias Follower02 on Quest_LP_BardFollowerQuest (EE0588D7)
      and
      Papyrus - Alias Follower1 on Quest_Camp_FollowerQuest (09061A04)

There is more down on the 11th page, but it looks to be related to one of the above instances.
I don't recognize what mods those are from, right off (one involves bards, probably), but the first two digits of the number indicates the position in your load order of the relevant mod. If you use a mod manager, just check, and it should have a list that shows you the position numbers of your mods in hexadecimal. You are interested in mod (09) and mod (EE), as those are the ones that have grabbed Inigo. Then tell me what they are, and we can hopefully figure out how to get them to let him go. Some mods have a built in way of doing that, but if not, you can stop the relevant quest in the console as a last resort.

As far as Campfire goes this looks fine, the quest that grabs him for sitting down etc (CampfireTentSystem) is not running on him. Do you know to which mod the BardFollowerQuest belongs and if it is supposed to be running at this point? You said Inigo is fine on the old save, does this quest run there as well or are there any differences in the sv results between the two saves in general?

      edit: hi Eolhin
Quest_Camp_FollowerQuest is from Campfire as well as _Camp_FollowerRegistration and they are fine. CampfireTentSystem is the one that grabs him for animations and can cause problms if the followers aren't properly released.

Thank you both again for your help! :) "Quest_LP_BardFollowerQuest" comes from the mod Become a Bard where you play instruments and NPCs react. So I did notice that when I load up an older save file where Inigo is functioning correctly, the script for "Quest_LP_BardFollowerQuest" shows "Alias Follower00", versus the script in the save where Inigo is not functioning correctly shows "Alias Follower02", might that be the issue, that the Bard mod is grabbing Inigo as Follower02? Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the Become a Bard mod nor its internal workings, so I really don't know. In other cases where Inigo was grabbed you would stop the respective quest but in your case it's just a different alias number, so it's not clear (for me) if that is a problem at all. I'd normally recommend asking the author of Become a Bard, but the comments and support for LE are closed, so my advice would be loading your older working save and continue playing on that one.

I have no idea how that particular mod works, so I am not sure. You should check the page for that mod, to see if there is any recommended way to get it to let go of an NPC that gets stuck.

If there aren't any solutions there, and you decide to try to do a bit of quest surgery to try to repair that save, create a new save just before doing this, as mistakes with the console can kill your game quickly. You can use the 'resetquest' command on the possible problem quest and see if that frees him up. (If anything goes wrong because you reset a quest you shouldn't then you can also go back to the save you made and try again. Don't overwrite that save.) If you get him freed up, make a new save to go on from, and check under that mod to see if there is any way to make it not see teammates, or followers. (Inigo is in the teammate faction, not the follower faction, technically, to try to make him immune to the control of some mods. Some mods work around that though, and target the teammate faction, or target in some other manner.) Keep in mind, resetting a quest can break things in that mod, depending on how it is constructed. Yet another reason to keep the save from before doing this.
I believe this would be the command, but I am not entirely sure about the Quest ID. If LP_BardFollowerQuest does not work, try BardFollowerQuest (if anyone knows better on this, please correct me).

Open the console (~), and type:
      resetquest LP_BardFollowerQuest
      Then hit enter.
Exit the console, and see if Inigo is behaving better.

Otherwise, as Falki said, you are better off going back to the earlier save, if all support for that mod is closed down, and you can't find what you need already on the page for it.

Gotcha, sounds good thank you both so much for all of your help! I'll load an older save and work off of that, I'm not very knowledgeable about the console and would probably cause irreversible damage, and the Inigo mod is totally worth re-doing a few hours worth of quests! Thank you both again!! :)

      ?
You will have to be a bit more precise... If you mean Inigo's mini-quest, that is only the first small prequel chapter for his whole story, which will be in V3.0. If you mean how far has Gary come with his work on Inigo 3.0, I doubt even he can give you a percentage, as he never knows when he will run into a problem that will slow things down (or speed things up). He did put out some preview material though, to show what he has been doing, if you want to look at it. *points up to the link in the next-to-last sticky post above*

You can have a look at the V3 preview in the sticky post above to get an idea of what has been done so far. Other than that, I think we can all agree that Gary's time is better invested in working on V3 than trying to evaluate his progression by a numerical value

I absolutely love Inigo! He's funny and a really good fighter. Always there when I need him and pairs well with M'rissi too. I was wondering is there a way to get him to live somewhere else like breezehome or anywhere? I don't want to break his brain and use some other manager mod to do it so I thought I would ask here if there is a way to do it or not.

Currently, there's one alternate home available - you can chat with him sometimes after the completion of his quest.

Alternatively, you can ask him to relax in any safe area, and he'll stay there indefinitely. In practice, he'll live there, even tho you have to go drop him off.

    Spoiler:

Like all other followers, Inigo is subject to navmesh problems, which is the most common reason for a follower to get stuck like that. Are you using the Unofficial Patches? Are they up to date? They fix a huge number of such navmesh holes all across Skyrim. With the Unofficial Patches, I wouldn't expect as many problems as you are experiencing, though of course, other mods can always introduce such problems, or re-introduce old ones if they override the USKP. So, check your USKP, and to tide you over, until you get his summon spell, there is a way of summoning him with the console about two thirds of the way down the front page of the mod:

    open console with ` key
    type: help inigo 4
    hit enter
note first 2 digits of the NPC_
type: prid xx008ae9 (replacing xx with the first 2 noted digits above)
    hit enter
    type: moveto player
    hit enter
    exit console with ` key

You could also just select Inigo with the console then move him, but that is always a bit more chancy (the console likes to select the wrong thing sometimes).

Once Inigo 2.1 comes out, the problem with him dismissing himself when waiting or relaxing will be resolved, but he will always be subject to the same navmesh issues as other followers, which is one of the reasons for the summon spell. I hope that will be of some help to you.

Well, it gets him unstuck from places, but you forgot to mention that after that you need to restart Skyrim in order for things to settle.

Here's hoping it doesn't screws itself right during his quest.

Oh yeah. I need to thank you for the mod as well. Inigo is by far THE BEST PARTER I COULD HAVE HAD ON THIS GAME.

      @ZeroDozer
      ???

Did you intentionally respond to a truly ancient post from several years, and several versions ago? Or is Nexus practicing necromancy and reanimating dead threads with modern post dates? This was about Inigo V2.0, I think, and is no longer really relevant. If you are looking at the Comments on the Forum side, it defaults to oldest first, and as Inigo has been around for quite a while, you need to go to the end page of comments to read up on current things. (Or look at the comments under the Posts tab on the mod page.) And no, using the console to summon Inigo that way should not require restarting the game afterwards. There is also now the InigoMCM which has a feature to do that without the console (though the MCM requires SKSE).

I will be honest I didn't have high hopes for Inigo when I first downloaded him. My experiences had mostly been with the regular followers you find on the Nexus. But I was and still am astonished by Inigo, him and the relaunched version of M'rissi are my favorite companions. Thanks for your time and dedication, I look forward to V3.0 whenever it comes out
