    V2.3 is here!

V2.3 fixes all known V2.2 issues, adds a few hundred new lines, and adds more whistle functionality. See the change log and the whistling section of the description page for more info.

FAQs and info for older versions of Inigo can be found in the forums section under 'FAQ and info for earlier versions of INIGO'

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update instructions

    • 1. Get him out of the control of other mods (UFO, AFT, etc) and make sure he isn't riding, waiting, relaxing, or following Vilja.
    • 2. Save the game using the Save menu and then quit to the desktop.
    • 3. If you previously used Inigo on Steam remember to unsubscribe from the workshop version.
    • 4. Replace the Inigo.esp and Inigo.bsa files with the new versions.
    • 5. For those that use any kind of patcher, ASIS etc, be sure to re-run your patcher.
    • 6. Restart the game and continue from the save you made.
Step 1 is the critical part. He is completely removed from the standard game factions, if other mods (including Vilja) are still trying to affect him then they are going to get confused when he's no longer in those factions. It's fine if he is actively following you, sitting in the Riften jail, or even walking back to the jail.

NOTE: When you next save your game do not overwrite the save you created in step two. Make a new one so you can always go back if something goes wrong. This is a good idea when installing any mod.

Papyrus log activity when updating - When upgrading an existing save game there will be a second or two of scary looking Papyrus log activity. Worry not. This is normal and after saving all future loads should be message free.

SMF users - If you want to use both Inigo and kuertee's Simple Multiple Followers mod you need to turn off the SMF feature that automatically detects all teammates as followers. More info near the top of the description page beneath the update procedures.

    WHEN IS V3 COMING???

I'm currently working on V3 (where Inigo's quest will continue and end). If I have to stop for some unexpected reason this post will disappear. V3 is massive. It will take as long as it takes. If you ask when it's coming out you will just be referred to this message.

You can find V3 preview material at http://friendsofinigo.com/exclusive_v3_preview_material

does inigo require any mods? im playing on a mostly vanilla version of skyrim and on installing him he was at the jail but had no voiceover + his head was completely red with his war paint and chin being slapped on top of it
i searched everywhere and couldn't find a list of requirements :/

Ew, that doesn't sound good... The reason you can't find a list of requirements is because there are none. Inigo works with nothing but the most-base base game (with the updates for the base game, of course). He does not require the DLC, or any other mod, at all. There are ones I would recommend using on any game, but nothing Inigo needs, and nothing that would cause that. It sounds like his .bsa file was missing, or corrupt. Are you using a mod manager, or a manual install? After you unpack the download, there should be two files that end up in your Data folder (or manager profile), both the Inigo.esp and the Inigo.bsa. Do not unpack the Inigo.bsa (if your manager gives you an option to do that, don't), but do include it with the .esp. The .bsa contains all his custom voice files, as well as art, and a number of other things that don't normally go in an .esp. If the file is there, but you still have the problem, re-download, re-extract, and replace the files (if manual install), and/or uninstall and reinstall with your manager, if that is how you downloaded and unpacked the files.

On reflection, there is one small request I'd like to make for Inigo. When one kills a dragon, Inigo usually has something to say about it. Trouble is, I can't understand a word he's saying over the windroar of soul consumption.

Would it be possible to delay his quip a few moments, until the noise dies down?

As I understand it, not easily, no. The scripting necessary to trigger a line, but delay it firing would be messy and top heavy. The vast majority of people turn on subtitles, so that they don't miss things he says due to a range of background noises. You could change the game volume sliders, but I don't know which one the soul-absorption winds falls under.

Fair enough. I've got some subtitles turned on, for direct convos, but the background chatter is turned off, as it was intrusive. Guess I'll turn it back on. Thanks for the response.

There might be a mod out there that makes the soul-absorption sounds quieter. I haven't looked, but it shouldn't be that complicated to do.

Hey everyone. I’m having minor issues with Inigo at the moment. I’m playing around with Skyrim Romance, as I have Bishop and MHPARHIN following me. I dismissed Inigo on my last adventure to get some role playing in with Bishop, but when I came back to re-recruit him for the main quest, he won’t follow me. The game says he’s my follower. He accepts commands. He’ll wait around. He responds to whistles (though he doesn’t act on them), but he still walks around in Breezehome like he’s still in Relax mode.

I tried shouting at him. Didn’t work.

Doubt fast traveling will work, as I’ve tried the emergency Inigo TP.

Disabled him and re-enabled him; it was a no go.

Tried the resetAI command—guess how that went?

All-in-all I tried everything that didn’t involve messing around with save files and reorganizing mods. No, I don’t have AFT. He worked just fine until now. Any suggestions or ideas? I found one other user who had this similar problem, but all of the resolves offered haven’t worked for me.

You said you dismissed him... Did you actually dismiss him, or ask him to relax in Breezehome? AFT isn't the only mod that can break his brain (or ability to follow). Follower control mods are the most common problem, but far from the only one. Any mod that controls him, particularly any aspect of his AI, can break him. It really sounds like something has captured him in an alias, and isn't letting him go again. Did you assign him to Breezehome, using a mod? Otherwise, when dismissed, he should have headed for Riften Jail (or the one other option you get once you have completed his quest). What happens if you use the emergency teleport (I assume from that you haven't done his quest yet) to put him outside of Breezehome? If none of that jogs your memory as to what might be controlling him, there is a way to hopefully find out with the console.

Open the console (~), select Inigo with the mouse and type:

      sv

Then hit enter. The sv command should show if Inigo has been nabbed as an alias for another mod. You'll probably need to use the page up (then page down) keys to see all the info. The quests with aliases from the Inigo mod should all have 'Inigo' in them. If there are others listed there (other than the AAE quests which are from Vilja and are also safe) and the results of 'sv' don't make sense to you, take note of them, and list them here (or take screenshots, make sure you get the whole list, and post them in spoilers tags). It may be a mod that has a built in way to fix the problem. Either way, hopefully that information will help tell us what is keeping him locked into sandboxing in Breezehome, and we can advise you on possible ways to get him unstuck.

I also use AFT. And I can say with certainty that this mod does not work on Inigo. only on comrades like Lidia, Serana or other simple companions. However, it does not work on our favorite blue. I have also recently used Lucien. He recognizes Inigo of course. Second in the list of the best companions, because Inigo is unquestionably the number ONE. AFT also does not work on Lucien

      Sorry for my English

The person above does not have AFT. Given default conditions, AFT should ignore Inigo, yes. But it is still possible to break him with it, by forcing AFT to see him (do NOT do that). That is true of a number of other mods that ignore him by default as well, and some that are not as polite, and do not ignore him.

Im a really big fan of Inigo and i cant wait for V3 to come out,i just have one question. Will Inigo comment on the DLC questlines like he does in the main questline? will he acknowledge the Dawnguard or Miraak or Soltstheim at all or will that be too much work? either way i am really eager to see how V3 turns out

V3 will be the rest of Inigo's own story, and a great deal else, but last I heard, it will not contain further DLC commentary. Gary was planing to work on that after V3 is done, if he still has the energy.

Aaaaaand now I'm getting a weird issue that's honestly more amusing than concerning, since I'm sure I can reset him by fast traveling or summoning him or some such.

I went into the training room in the Ragged Flagon to practice my one-handed on the target dummies, and I noticed Inigo was standing off to the side casually watching me and doing some weird dancing-esque gesture with his arms every several seconds. I figured, okay, he's staying out of the way so I don't accidentally hit him and cheering me on from the sidelines. I also vaguely noticed he wasn't making any commentary but assumed that was unrelated and just because we weren't really doing anything.

So I finish training up my one-handed and go to leave. Inigo doesn't follow. Confused, I go up to him to make sure I didn't randomly tell him to wait, and nope, he's still following me. So my next guess was I just didn't go far enough away and run down the hall. Nope, he's still standing in the training room. I whistle at him a few times and he does react like he's just waiting around, acting like I've gotten his attention, at one point apologizing before saying he's on his way. After a few whistles he just starts whistling back. I go back into the room, say I need him to do something, and have him wait in the hall. He navigates there just fine. So I whistle at him again, he confirms he's following, I try to leave again, and... nope. He's just standing in the hall vaguely dancing.

I don't know if another mod grabbed hold of him (I can't think of any that would make him do that) but I do know that it's not a navmesh issue. Again, I find it more funny than anything because it's probably easy to reset, but I felt y'all would get some laughs out of the mental image of Inigo standing in the Thieves Guild training room dancing.

Yeah, that would be another mod grabbing him, and overriding his follow package, then not letting him go again when it should. Some bard mods force NPCs to behave as an audience, particularly around bars/inns, etc. The Wenches mods also used to do that, though the newer versions are not supposed to. Look through your load order for things like that. If you can't figure it out, or if it doesn't let go of him in a reasonable amount of time/effort, you can open the console, target Inigo (while he is stuck), then use the 'sv' command. You will have to use Page Up to get up to the top of the results, then Page Down to go back down through the list, but whatever is controlling him should be listed there as something that has him captured in an alias. (There will be a number of things that should be there, his own conversation quests, etc.) If you need help interpreting the results, do screen grabs of them, and post it in spoilers tags, or link to them, and I will have a look. Once we figure out what is doing it, some mods have a built in way/trick of getting them to let go of an NPC, and some are more difficult. Just say so if you need help. Sorry it took a bit to respond.

Good, if it happens again, and/or you have more trouble getting him unstuck, use 'sv', otherwise, well, you know Skyrim, random glitches abound.

When Inigo started getting headaches to start the Bad Vibrations quest, I fear I may have accidentally broken the mod by getting on a horse (and him too) after the first wave. Now he's not getting them anymore and I can't seem to progress him? Please help.

In order for the attacks to occur, you need to be in a not-dangerous areas in the main Skyrim world space (not near a dungeon), and not fighting, sneaking, riding a horse, or in a carriage. This was done so that the attacks wouldn't get you killed by occurring at a bad time. So wander around on foot with him for a bit, picking herbs, or raiding the barrels on the exterior docks at Riften, admiring the scenery, anything like that, and the next attack should happen. Given dragon attacks, and all that, it was planed to be tolerant of interruptions, so don't worry, that is very unlikely to have broken him.
