    V2.3 is here!

V2.3 fixes all known V2.2 issues, adds a few hundred new lines, and adds more whistle functionality. See the change log and the whistling section of the description page for more info.

FAQs and info for older versions of Inigo can be found in the forums section under 'FAQ and info for earlier versions of INIGO'

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update instructions

    • 1. Get him out of the control of other mods (UFO, AFT, etc) and make sure he isn't riding, waiting, relaxing, or following Vilja.
    • 2. Save the game using the Save menu and then quit to the desktop.
    • 3. If you previously used Inigo on Steam remember to unsubscribe from the workshop version.
    • 4. Replace the Inigo.esp and Inigo.bsa files with the new versions.
    • 5. For those that use any kind of patcher, ASIS etc, be sure to re-run your patcher.
    • 6. Restart the game and continue from the save you made.
Step 1 is the critical part. He is completely removed from the standard game factions, if other mods (including Vilja) are still trying to affect him then they are going to get confused when he's no longer in those factions. It's fine if he is actively following you, sitting in the Riften jail, or even walking back to the jail.

NOTE: When you next save your game do not overwrite the save you created in step two. Make a new one so you can always go back if something goes wrong. This is a good idea when installing any mod.

Papyrus log activity when updating - When upgrading an existing save game there will be a second or two of scary looking Papyrus log activity. Worry not. This is normal and after saving all future loads should be message free.

SMF users - If you want to use both Inigo and kuertee's Simple Multiple Followers mod you need to turn off the SMF feature that automatically detects all teammates as followers. More info near the top of the description page beneath the update procedures.

    WHEN IS V3 COMING???

I'm currently working on V3 (where Inigo's quest will continue and end). If I have to stop for some unexpected reason this post will disappear. V3 is massive. It will take as long as it takes. If you ask when it's coming out you will just be referred to this message.

You can find V3 preview material at http://friendsofinigo.com/exclusive_v3_preview_material

Half of 2018 is already gone. 4th year of my life in Skyrim.
When I get bored of Skyrim's stories 2 years ago, even with modding, it's Inigo who made me keep on playing till today.
And waiting for his V3 coming seems to be the only reason I'm still keeping Skyrim in my PC now. Poor memory space.

I know this has likely been said a hundred times over - maybe a thousand, two thousand, twenty-five billion, take your pick - but Inigo is, without a doubt, the BEST follower Skyrim has ever seen. Where every other vanilla follower has zero personality beyond "carry your burdens" and "look cool", Inigo doesn't just feel like someone to walk behind you and fight for you, but rather as a friend. And let me tell you, when everything is trying to kill you, a friend is someone everyone needs. Thank you so much, and you can know this is endorsed - once, but only because I'm not allowed to do it any more. =)

Also, does Inigo have sweet roll eating functionality yet?

Yes, he does. If you give them to him, he will make them disappear, and give appropriate comments on them when he eats them.

I'm wondering if ShylokVakarian was asking if Inigo had a sweetroll eating animation?

By the way, anyone knows how many people are helping Gary? From the update video on the page, it looks like this project has become incredibly big, a fabled "DLC-sized mod" instead of just an update for a follower.

Gary does EVERYTHING other then the hard core coding (CdCooley). Which is why it is taking quite a while. Myself and a few others help with a bit of testing here or there, and take care of most of the tech support so Gary can use every spare moment for working on it, but it is really a one-man-show. But that is how Gary wants it.

Any way to increase the volume of inigo's commentary?

I've already reduced the volume of everything else as low as i can w/o actually loosing them, and i'm still semi-missing out on some of his commentary because he's at the edge of his follow range. I'm aware that he can be adjusted to follow closer, but imo that just complicates the issue that ALL companions have: crowding the player in smaller corridor's / area's. Perhaps consider a "loud" inigo option for the upcoming version of him?

And i'm still smiling at the various comment's he's making. Would endorse him twice, if possible :)

As far as I know, there are no design-end volume controls on the voice files (if I am wrong, I am sure someone will correct me), other then the recording volume, so to have a louder option, Gary would have to re-record (or at least re-edit) every single Inigo line at a higher volume. Given that there are well over 7,000 lines just in the current version, not to mention the next, I don't think that is too likely. Sorry.

I think you should just have him follow closer then. I have also enabled subtitles so I can read what he's saying in case I miss something accustically. As for blocking the player, if you stand close to Inigo and whistle to him he will make way (unless he is blocked himself by other NPC), once you complete his mini-quest the reward you get is another option.

Have him set-up as an archer, follow distance default. I could change him to using his sword and/or staying closer, but that just exaggerates the blocking issue, imo. The reward you get is useful, but more so for bringing him back to you when his pathfinding is having issues w/ terrain or the more labyrinth-esque ruin's.

And if there isnt a way to get a louder inigo w/o re-recording, then no worries.

Okay, this mod continues to impress and surprise me.

Was talking with L while doing Inigo's quest, specifically after getting all the books full of lore, making sure Inigo was okay, and now going to bug L for answers. Normally, every time I've done this quest, I've asked L to "Tell me Everything" and gotten the response (and yes, there's some paraphrasing here), "You have those books I gave him, if you know how to read. You look like you may have trouble with some of the bigger words."

This time, however, instead of that last line, I got "You look fairly learned, but appearances can be deceptive."

Now, normally, when I've done this quest, I've been fairly low-level, haven't read many books, haven't found many skill books, and typically ended up trying to get to Inigo before starting my adventures. This time around, I was reasonably high level (about 30) and had been picking at some minor dungeons (Go kill the bandit leader, go wipe out the Giant Camp, please find my lost trinket) as a bit of role-playing around Solitude. I hadn't started the Main Quest yet, and I was kinda enjoying my slow-build to having a reason to protect this land that I live in. Eventually, I decided to make my way to Windhelm chasing a rumor about the Dark Brotherhood, which sent me to Riften.

So, naturally, the order of things tends to be: Expose the shakedown to get in for free, get snarky with Maul to get him to shut up and leave me be, pick up the quest from horse-guy at the first bridge who got robbed, play Brynjolf's foolish little game but intentionally fail because I'm not getting Brand-Shei in trouble, choose to pay my fine, go to the orphanage to complete my 'business' there for Aventus, head into Riften's Jail and now we'll pick up Inigo. At this point, I'm comfortable starting the main quest.

Now, I get Inigo before going to Helgen because I don't like creating reasons for why I'd agree to help Riverwood and then ignore going to Whiterun in favor of Riften. But, because of Live Another Life, I start in the world and can choose where I'm starting. This time around, my entire goal was to get my character involved as a reasonable adventurer before wandering off to Helgen, Bleak Falls Barrow, and then the big blow-up at the Western Watchtower.

I guess it's just that I wasn't expecting Langley to have any alternate commentary regarding the player. I half expected that Langley would always make the remark that the player character looks like they'd have trouble with the books, it's completely in character for him. So to suddenly have a situation where Langley's passive insult changed... Yeah, I was picking my jaw up off of my keyboard after that one.

Hehe, I remember smiling about that line with my last character, as she was actually fairly learned RP-wise.
I guess if people have the habit I had in vanilla, saving skill books for later when they are more effective, will prevent them from hearing that line. Luckily Requiem broke that habit by granting a fixed amount of xp instead of a skill point, might have missed it otherwise.

Thing I just witnessed, while watching Lavinia's funeral in Falkreath, Inigo continues his normal comment routines. In my particular case, he commented about the rain being wonderful. How rude, Inigo.
