For a first attempt, you've done yourself proud! I personally like your mod better than others because it conforms to the vanilla shape of the mountains yet makes them look a hundred times better (imo). I've tried other mods that supposedly improve the look of the mountains, and yea. They look good. But, I keep falling into holes in the meshes of their mountains. In other words, I fall through the surface. Because your's doesn't change the 'mesh', the surface stays solid.
So, thank you for sharing this exceptional "first attempt" with us.
I want to use this, but there is one little thing that bugs me: Up close, you can see that the textures have lots of multi-colored spots. This looks great from a distance, but up close it looks like the rocks are covered in multi-colored confetti. Lots of other mountain textures don't have this. If there is a way to clean this up, I'm willing to do it myself. If not I may re-make this texture pack using this as a base or as inspiration.
This is definitely what I was looking for, after trying all those top endorsed mountain texture mods, which alter the color and brightness of the original mountains way too much, I was surprised to see this mod sitting on the bottom with only 1700 endorsements. I always like it when things stay true to vanilla textures, that way the balance and blend of colors around the game don't get disturbed too much, so I greatly appreciate this mod being here.
