The ONLY other mod that I can think of that has the same level of madness is that one, horrible, cliff racer mod for Morrowind: Racer Recursion by Trainwiz and Satan. http://morrowind.nexusmods.com/mods/42200/ Also the winner of the Worst Mod Ever Created award http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4rXsrZRchQ
I made this because there are many mods out there which all reduce the volume of the nirnroot ringing, but none that increase it. Unfortunately, if you use more than one of these mods (one .esp and one replacer for example), the noise goes away completely. This file was made to counteract this change in a way that still permits me to use the rest of those audio overhauls. Savvy?
I've actually been wondering why this is. I've seen many, many people complaining that the Nirnroot effect is too loud, but to me it was always very subtle. Perhaps it's because of the problem with respawning nirnroots and their emitters? Since I always use the unofficial skyrim patch, that would never affect me, hence why the sound was never loud.
Since there's clearly interest, I'll whip up some alternate volumes in a minute, k?
Still wanted some sound but wanted it quieter. Picked the 10db less option, but don't know the difference because of no video. Shame. Endorsed either way.
I recorded back to back comparisons. If you click the link to SoundCloud in the description, you should be taken to them. Please let me know if they don't work!
Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't get the ear-splitting ringing that I see others complaining about.
I've never made a Youtube video before, but the volume increase is roughly 40% by my estimation. According to Audacity, the peak volume went from 12.5 dB to roughly 16 dB, but since dB is a log scale, the sound should now be enormous, which it is not. This is a subtle, but definitely noticeable change.
not that you have to, but i'd love a chance to hear it before downloading. if not then i'll track it for a while and wait on some feedback before i install ^^
It works with anything that uses the same noise - Crimson Nirnroots included. It simply replaces the sound effect with a louder version of the same, so should be compatible with pretty much everything.

Wait 'til nightfall and run along the shore. You'll find them by the bushel.
