Let me know how you get on with the mod and post up any problems, I'll do what I can.
The animations in this mod are based on the work done by Nez/Raden5 in the seminal mod Dwarven Mechanical Equipment.

If you want to know how to animate objects/weapons this is where you go. Unbelievable modding at work here.
Unfortunately that also means it suffers from a 'double draw' bug. After the first time it's equipped (when all goes to plan) you'll get a double draw animation on 'Ready' the weapon. I've killed the double draw sound as best as I can but it's to do with the way the control script works.
Telescope has this bug as well but it's hidden by my shenanigans. I've never animated a weapon before, only 'shields' so it's a little more prominent then I hoped for.
I'll stay chipping away at it and I think if you favourite the weapon and draw it like that you can lessen the blow.
As with all NiController animations, they don't work when you TFC in the console. Gopher got them working I think when he reviewed DME, haven't a clue how
No Locking pin?
Wizards did it. The mod size was spiralling out of control so the two handles now use the same model and textures, unfortunately that meant sacrificing the animated locking pin. Honestly it was a luxury, you never actually got to see the animation.
I tried a few thing to get the 'lucky' feel across but it all looked a bit modern and fussy. Kept the ace of spades blade end and the horseshoes for the handles but other then that went for a simple look.
I think Gopher just held the f key for the time he recorded the relevant parts. Not sure if it's the same thing as the command, but it's an alternative to that.
You can see the animation up close in TFC if you use some mod sorcery. I used the slow motion ring mod method. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15588/?
1. Equip slow time ring 2. Equip Valdrs Lucky Dagger * You will notice that in slowmo, the new animation comes to a halt halfway in your hand. 3. Unequip slow time ring (easier if in the favorites menu) * The animation will finish momentarily after the slowmo effects end. 4. This gives you enough time to type in TFC, Zoom in, and see the new animation.
Edit: put up a video in the comments section showing the end results of the instructions above.
HEY MANNN i don't even know if you are going to see that comment but i wanted to post it anyhow.......i think i am in love with you and your knife it remind me cs go with all the animation....thank you for making this mod ................
Hi KettleWitch, lov'n the mod beautiful work. Some small bugs that I have found are no equip animation or sounds when equipped to left hand, sometimes when I unsheathe I'm empty handed but still have all animations as if I'm holding a blade ( stabbing, slashing ) and when I check my inventory its unequipped itself. Sorry just one more, after exiting ruunvald excavation when I unsheathe the dagger the equipping sound echo's as if I'm still in a cave. I apologize if I'm hav'n a whinge and I will still continue to use this mod whether the bugs are fixed or not.
Whinge away my friend, the more interest and feedback on a mod the more likely I am to update it
This is actually a relatively old mod I haven't played with for some time so I'll check out all your problems over the weekend. The one thing for sure I can say shouldn't be happening is the 'invisible' mesh bug. I usually only see that when I've been poking around in the CK and re-linking .nif's to CK entries incorrectly.
It's probably worth un-installing and re-installing the mod if this is happening.
I'd say the 'echo' is the double draw bug playing the equip sound twice. I have this fixed in later mods that use these animations so I can fix that. If that's what it is!
Don't know about no equip sound in left hand, will have a look.
Anyway thanks for the feedback, gives me an excuse to re-visit this mod
I just tried this out and I must say I am very impressed. The dagger looks wonderful and I love the animation. I saw your recently uploaded Iron Short Sword and it was so well done that I checked out your other mods. That's when I spotted this one and luckily had just completed the Valdr quest last night.
