As anyone checked how it work with mods adding guards post on the borders ?
As you might know, at the start of Skyrim, the PC is sent to die because of illegal entry in the country (crossing of border not registered). So, passage should require something like Civil War done with ? (Ah, lore fitting..).
There is at last one mod adding guards to this location : "Guarded Borders" (specifically it add border control over : Morrowind, Cyrodiil, and Hammerfell borders at this point (Guess it is no longer updated, but still, it is a lore point so it should be taken in account as to this mod ?
Then, of course, the borders are closed because of the war, so, the house could be inaccessible until the player has completed that quest ? (another option depend who is controlling that border, Legion or Redguard ? If Legion, PC joining them could be invited there (if it is on the Empire Side of the border of course) after some work for the Empire ? As to PC joining the Stormcloak and others, no access until the civil war is done with (until you guess of a lore correct way to put the acccess 'by default' or, brand it "no lore" mod ?
In any case, would be a shame if it is not considered, as it is a fine mod as far I may see.
Then, request : Rooms ! At last 3 more, Maid (can be added with another mod (Maids of Skyrim, Enter_77 did just said that the "relationship" information (scripts & Dialogue, I have yet to check) is freely available) as to cook/clean. Steward (keep the place secure) and at last one guard, as it has to be protected (even if guards could be close, so only one (who can be a dwemer construct, even if in this instance we are not speaking of a Telvanni Tower, so some book / explanation should be required as to how & why it is there, but still more easy to add than a NPC guard ?). Then, if not rooms for 3 followers, at last 1 for all of them (with at last 4 beds).
Then, as to spouse support, there is a full tutorial available if needed
I may look into the border guard mod to see if I can make it compatible. I'm not sure how I could add more rooms without completely changing the outside of the house to match. I have considered putting in a basement though.
You may notice that the structures on the Hammerfell side are all balconies, so technically the player chaarcter never actually touches Hammerfell soil. I like to think there's some technicality in the law that allows this.
My original intention was to have the house buildable or purchasable. If anyone has a good tutorial on how to acquire items through dialogue, I would really appreciate it.
Hm, look in the TESK (Skyrim.esm) for "College Application Denied" : http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Aspiring_Mage
Not a tutorial but at last you could have an idea as to how it was handled in the vanilla game.
Alright, found one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLyDZK0Fjus
If you need any other help, ask, as said (maybe not here) they are a lot of tutorial as to TES CK (all version so far) so if you have an idea, there is probably a way to do it.
Also, did you have support for wife & child built in ?
As to more rooms, no real importance where they are. Underground is not a worry as long it is in the same cell (not sure how it work if the npc have a navmesh passing trough loading door ?).
As to soil, yes, that a good point, would even be an interesting (at last to some) point as to immersion (finding notes from locals & administration as to the buildings, then, the offer to make them "off ground" and how it is handled.
Could be part of the links then in case you go on with the Redguards town beside the Border.
Make something on the other side of the border? Not understanding how this would work. Are you talking about in the area before you get to the house on the Skyrim side, maybe on the other side from Halldir's Cairn? Once you walk down the road past this house, there is a message that pops on screen "you cannot go this way".
I've added extra sacks and barrels and a milkable goat. I'll also be adding egg and honey collection because the vanilla nests / apiaries don't respawn as often as I'd like. Once I'm done with that, I'll upload the new version. I'll also make an alternate version with more beds.
I could be wrong but I believe you need to get your loot out and store someplace else. Update the mod then you should be fine to put it back. I use Elysium Estate in Whiterun and that's what I am told to do when updating to a new version or I could risk losing everything stored in the house. Also to Thicketford, nice work on this house. Feels more secure and cozy banked up against the border, nice place to chill. Thanks for creating it.
It seems there's a couple of navmesh errors concerning followers. They like to get stuck, and near the blacksmith area they go halfway through the floor.
I saw Firebrand777s comment about the more beds for companions, and I +1 that suggestion..
I was thinking, maybe a smaller on the property house down the road for companions? Maybe a wall then separating the hold from the .. now kind of an "outpost".. Maybe another small farm with milkable cows? I don't know if you can do that, but it'd be really nice..
Also, there seems to be a lack of storage really.. I'm weird, I use hardcore mods for food etc, and I like having the "raw" food away from the cooked food, and then fresh fruit/veg away from that stuff.. there's only one barrel in the bar, and then 2 barrels and a sack by the oven. I dunno. Maybe just some smaller sacks would be nice.
Just some ideas, I guess :] I don't wanna be rude and be like "I Demand these features!" lol xD
But for sure, this is my favorite homestead i've had in a long time. It works perfect for my redguard witchhuntress!

?
Awesome!! Can't wait to test.
I guess I should remove all my loot before updating though?

Thank you for making this.
