Don't know how to get SkyUI to work? No problem, just follow this list of 10 easy steps and you will be on in no time!

    1. Go to the 7z download site and choose the version that represents your operating system (32/86 bit or 64-bit) then install it.
-- You can find out your operating system version by going to Start→Control Panel→System.

    2. Delete/Uninstall SkyUI completely from your computer. (This is necessary)

    3. Go to the folder that contains the shortcuts which start TESV and SkyrimLauncher, then right click on one of the shortcuts and click Properties, then go to the Compatibility tab and tick the option that says "Run this program as an administrator" and click Apply. Do the same for the other shortcut.
-- This gives Skyrim permissions for EnvironmentAccess and your SkyrimLauncher's datafiles EnvironmentAccess.

    4. Go to the main ".exe" file that opens Nexus Mod Manager, then right click it and go into the Properties, then go to the Compatibility tab and tick the option that says "Run this program as an administrator" and click Apply.

    5. Then click this button → (SKYUI) and then click "Download". After this, Nexus Mod Manager will open.
-- If it does not open, a notification should appear on the top of your screen, click the button that allows the download to start then Nexus Mod Manager will open.

    6. Once Nexus Mod Manager has opened, one of three things will happen:

6A: You will be prompted to login on Nexus Mod Manager, just enter your login details and it will log you in.
-- This allows it to confirm you are the user that wants to download SkyUI and you are not a bot.

6B: The download process for SkyUI will begin instantly, this only happens if you are already logged in on Nexus Mod Manager.

6C: It will start, then stop and the download-status will stay "incomplete". This happens if you have not got 7z or have not done step 3 or 4 correctly, in which case, you should go back and check.

    7. If step 6 went according to plan, on the bottom of NMM, in the "Mod Activation Queue" SkyUI should be there. If not, go back to previous steps and check you have done them correctly.

    8. Click on the "SkyUI" file ONCE and then look towards the left side of your screen, underneath the green plus button a grey tick should have turned green, click on the green tick button and then the activation of the mod will start.

    9. If you completed steps 1 to 5 correctly, the SkyUI mod should have activated.

    10. Hover your mouse-cursor over the "Launch Skyrim" button in the top-left of Nexus Mod Manager, then to the right-side of that button there will be a small dropdown button, click it. Once you have clicked it, if you have SKSE installed which you NEED for most Skyrim mods, there will be an option to "Launch SKSE". Click on the "Launch SKSE" button and then click yes on the popup box.

Once you have completed step 10, Nexus Mod Manager will close and Skyrim will open, then just load a previous save, continue from the last save or start a new game and then you will find in the Main Menu there will be a "Mod Configuration" button, if this button is there then SkyUI has been installed correctly and you now have the mod!

This solution worked for me, so I'll share. I got the same error that prodigyskill has. I also made the changes instructed in DukeFred's suggestion.

    "SKYUI ERROR CODE 1
the skyrim script extender (SKSE) is not running.
    SkyUI will not work correctly!

This message may also appear if a new skyrim
patch has beereleased. in this case, wait until
SKSE has been updated, then install the new
    version.

For help, see the SkyUI mod description."

What I did was right click on skse_loader.exe in the Skyrim folder, chose Properties . In the Compatibility tab, go to Privilege Level and uncheck Run as Administrator. Apply and re-run SKSE in NMM and it should skip the Skyrim launcher and go directly in game with SKSE fully loaded. My SKSE version at the time of this post is 1.06.16.

did not work for skse64 and skyui 5.2

    In response to post #23416154.

    Spoiler:
    Show

    Pedro,

    Try this from the console:

    setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1

That command rebuilds the MCM menus.  For me it also solved issue #1 from your post.  Once this process completed keybind would work again through the MCM interface.

In which file should I put this command? SkyrimPref.ini ?

    @Viniaire:

    FrostByghte clearly said:

    "Pedro,

    setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1"

So it doesn't go into any file.

I entered in the setstage ski_configmanagerinstance 1 code, but it didn't work, saying there is an error. Any help for that?

SkyUI and SKSE were both working fine for me until I installed the Nexus Mod Manager.  The problem is that, after launching SKSE (which should go straight into the game and skip the launcher), the launcher would start up and make sure the mods are synced, and then entering Skyrim would produce the SkyUI Error Code 1 indicating that SKSE wasn't running.

Running SKSE as an Administrator fixed the problem, but created others.  My mouse button config wouldn't work with Skyrim at all.

Finally figured out the problem this morning, though.  The Nexus Mod Manager files had very minimal Security settings, which prevented SKSE from interacting with it - only an Administrator could.  After updating the Security settings for Users, SKSE interacts with it just fine without having to be run as an Administrator.  The Launcher no longer starts up, the game loads directly, and SkyUI works just fine.

    Guide:

Go directly to the Nexus Mod Manager main file folder.  Right click > Properties > Security tab.  Click on the "Edit..." button underneath the Group or user names: box.  Select "Users" in the top box, then make sure the following Permissions are Allowed in the bottom box:
    • Full control
    • Modify
    • Read & execute
    • List folder contents
    • Read
    • Write
You don't need to check off "Special permissions".  Or rather, I didn't need to.

      Hello dukefred,
I just followed your instructions thoroughly and I still can't see mcm in the start menu
Not only that but I can't tab over to quests or general state in the start menu either
I don't know what to do.
Would I have to reinstall my mods?

    Good day guys

I've recently tried to reinstall SKYUI, but, the moment I load up my character, a message pops up saying, "SKUI ERROR CODE 7" "SKSE FILES NOT PROPERLY LOADED".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(Last 2 times I installed skui didn't have this problem)
