HOWEVER, there is a particular install process, which I will only basically note out (search the rest yourselves in the link below the instructions, it's easy ^_^):
1. Install SKSE 2.0.12 (if your Skyrim Special Edition is the latest version on steam). 2. Create SKSE.ini file 3. Install SKYUI_5_2_SE via Vortex or Nexus Mod manager. 3. After enabling the mod in Vortex or NMM, fix one of the files in the SkyUI mod using SSEEDIT (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/164?tab=description) as described in the thread below 4. Launch from SKSE64_loader.exe (make sure steam is loaded first).

If you use a proper mod manager to install and activate/enable plugins ( like NMM or Vortex or MO2 ) you do not need to add Skyrim.esm as a master. That's only relevant for those who install mods manually and use the Bethesda build-in mod manager to activate mods
I am getting the same error. I just bought Skyrim SE yesterday as well as downloaded skse and SkyUI. I have skse confirmed to run in game when I do a test
Same issue. Best I can tell, this was last updated in 2015, and wants to use skse 1.7.3 (Or a later 1.7.X) It doesn't recognize v2.X as a current version...
There's an SkyUI and an SKSE version for the LE version of Skyrim, and an SkyUI and an SKSE version for the Special Edition. Please install the proper versions ?
