If you download the file manually and delete the "fomod" folder from the archive and then add and install via nexus it works, at least for me.

DO THIS. After reimaging my computer, I was able to reinstall all other mods except for this. After about an hour of trying everything I could find on the internet, his was the ONLY solution that fixed it. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I unpacked it, killed the fomod, and repacked it, and now it installs correctly with the mod manager. Thank you for your help.

Why not just install it manually?  All you need is the skyui.esp and .esm copied to your /data folder and then check it in plugins.

      • Download mod manually
      • unpack archive ( with WinRAR, or 7zip )
      • delete FOMOD folder
      • archive the rest ( with WinRAR, or 7zip )
      • install archive with mod manager
      • play game

    FOR NMM USERS ONLY :

an exception occurred in the script

1 ) Run NMM as Administrator.
2 ) Go to NMM Settings.
3 ) Enable Add Shell Extensions for Supported File Types.
    4 ) Restart NMM

    Have fun !

    Cheers

    I got a fix from
    https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/8f0cz6/an_exception_occurred_in_the_script/?st=jhl6x346&sh=8d532e2e

    s/he says:
False alarm... I used my naturally shitty Sys Admin skills to figure it out... noticed a grayed out check box in NMM

"add shell extensions for supported file types"

and then read the * note "NMM must be launched as Admin to change these setting"

launched as admin, ticked the check box, applied changes, restarted NMM, activated SkyUI, issue resolved...

"Pack it up boys we're going to Skyrim."

Hate to bump what would seem to be a dead thread, but i had the same issue. All i did was use the MANUAL download, and loaded it into NMM that way.

Same. Vanilla install, downloaded SKSE through steam, made sure everything has r/w permission, running everything as admin.

[strike]I've tried both the latest version (5.1 at the time of commenting) and 5.0

None of them work... I have SKSE installed, this mod worked FLAWLESSLY last time I checked (like a year ago)

I keep getting the "an exception..." error.

    OS: w10 64bit
Skyrim LE+SKSE 100% vanilla (for now)

    I need this mod!

https://n1nj4rg.s-ul.eu/yGHJC2XC < apparently it's a permission error... I am the only user on this machine and I'm the ADM....[/strike]

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    UPDATE:

Apparently, its a NMM related error... the manual installation works 100%.

For some reason, the program fails to get the required permissions to install ANY mod into the game
(even after taking ownership+granting full access to the game/NMM folder)

I just installed another mod via NMM and it worked just fine.

This issue seems to be tied to this mod in particular...
