Btw, currently asking you (author) for permission to upload my SE Skyrim port on the nexus. Hoping for positive answer soon. Meanwhile I will do some testing to make sure it works properly, as I didn't really do much after reqruiting him as a follower.

Whatsup man. Any update on that SE port? Have been wanting to use this follower for a while since hed be perfect in my current playthrough, would port him myself but i have no idea how to do it so your comment is a godsend! Really got me exited now
Were you able to talk to him before? Have you done the Missing in Action quest yet? Where you rescue him from Northwatch? I know he's in that Stormcloak camp before then, but I don't think you can interact with him if you haven't done the quest.
I'm on SE and for my current pt decided to try and convert my old pal Thorald. I just recruited him, and he seems to be working ok, so far. He is his old chatty self. I'll try and remember to update this post later in the game. Here's what I did so you can do it for yourself.

I dl'd the loose files version and extracted to a non-game directory folder I named 'Thorald Grey-Mane'. ***Don't use the .bsa version because LE .bsa files won't work with SE, and some of my research suggested that unpacking the LE .bsa might not be as effective as simply starting with the loose files.***
I ran the contents of that folder through Cathedral Assets Optimizer, optimizing meshes, textures, including facegen, and creating a .bsa. ***creating a .bsa is advisable because loose files may process much slower in SE than .bsa's.***
Zip the 'Thorald Grey-Mane' folder, minus the loose files. You should have a Scripts folder, a seq folder, a Thorald GreyMane.bsa, and a Thorald GreyMane.esp
Install. I use Vortex.
Create a new seq file. This may not be necessary, but it is in some cases so I went ahead and did it.
Load the Thorald GreyMane.esp in SSEEdit
You don't need to expand it, just right-click on the .esp and from the menu select 'Other' at the bottom, and then 'Create SEQ file.'
Exit SSEEdit.
Deploy
FWIW: While I was in SSEEdit, I did make a couple of changes to the idle comments for my own enjoyment. Thorald does talk a lot, and I wanted to minimize the barrage of chatter. I expanded the Dialog Topic 'ThoraldGreyManeIdle [DIAL:0200E4C7]'. For each line that repeats, I made sure the reset hours under flags were maxed out, around 24 hours. I also, for each idle dialog line, added the condion 'IsSneaking' = 0. I was trying to to limit his chatter to when we weren't sneaking. I think it's working. I don't need to hear about Lydia's beauty and strength while we're sneaking up on a bandit camp.
UPDATE 1/4/22: Thorald still going strong many hours later. And he doesn't talk when I'm sneaking. UPDATE 1/7/22: Thorald is still w/ me. So unless something breaks, I won't be updating this post further.
There's like 4* female targeted romance mods lol, no male targeted at all that I know of (unless you patch the female ones to recognize your now gay or female-identifying guy)

- does he talk about the civil war? does he comment about the db's choices in the matter? - By no chance will he interact with other follower mods? like Vilja, Inigo, Serana, Sofía, Lucien, Kaidan, etc. - There will be an interaction with his parents? There will be chance to see Alvustein again? Or will he trashtalk to the Battleborns?
I think I made him marriageable in CK , not sure. I got everything but the voice part done. I dont think it will kepp me from marrying him. I am female and I dont see any good mods for us. All the guys look gay save this one.
Have been dying to try this companion and finally created my new "true Nord" playthrough where Thorald would be perfect. Saved him successfully, got him to follow all no issues, but then he got dismissed for a Companion quest and for the life of me I cannot find where to pick him up again? He was dismissed/replaced by the quest-line but is neither at the only owned home or back at the storm cloak camp where he was first picked up. Any suggestions? Do not have any other followers or companion mods. I searched the forums, I do apologise if the question was asked before.
I cant get him to follow me, got no other followers and using Nether's Follower Framework and after the greeting at the stormcloak camp and asking him to come with me he says he wants to then the conversation ends with him saying a line as if I had dismissed him and now I just get generic hellos from him but no actual dialogue and he just hangs around the camp. I only have a handful of mods installed for testing purposes so no clue. I tried it with my ported version to SE and same thing there. Shame really I really liked the look of this mod does anyone know of a fix? It would be very appreciated.
I had the same issue until I moved him to the bottom of my mod list. I found he can conflict with other npcs that add custom voices to the default follower system. In my mod list he conflicts with Cerys an Craite, Geralt Of Rivia. and possibly a few other. Those two I found a direct conflict with as it depends who's lower in the order as to which character would work, and all three will not work all together.
Man, just going back and watching the vid review of this brought a lot back. Loved voicing this mod! If you ever got an idea for more with him, I'd pick it up in a heartbeat (despite my voice being a good deal deeper these days)
