Just a quick question, did you just change the color-filters of maybe the hue/saturation to recolor the armor? It seems that the entire thing has a green tint over it.
Not all legionarries wore the typical red, during the Roman Republic Era, there was no set uniform color, or standardization for that matter. The Marian Reforms, ushered in by Julius Caesar's uncle Gaius Marius, turned the Roman military into the lethal killing machine its now known to be. Scipio Africanus' troops usually wore a greenish color or was it blue... I forget, but if you go back and look at the game Rome : Total War, each Roman faction has their own soldier colors. Now, even though there isn't any variation of soldier attire (that came in Medieval II : Total War) and even though this may seem like a feature to help out game-play, there is some truth to the matter. Even with a standard or banner, units tried to distinguish themselves from other groups. So like the colorful patterns that developed during Medieval warfare, many Roman soldiers would wear attire with the colors of their home-city (since during the republic, a regiment would be raised, and usually made up of people from one of the cities). A common trend that gain popularity throughout the Punic-Wars (Rome-vs-Carthage) was for soldiers to wear the colors of the commanding officer's crest. So, like in RTW, the Gens Julii was predominately red, which became the standard under the Marian Reforms.
TLR Before the Roman Empire, there was the Roman Republic; like early Medieval Europe and Pre-Hellenic Greece, there was no standardization in the Roman Republic's military. Fashion was up to the individual soldier. Soldiers dressed in different patterns and colors so they could recognize friend-from-foe and unit-from-unit.
Now then, anyone figured out how to become Emperor? If Talos was Dragonborn, and then became Empy, I don't see why the "Hero of Skyrim" can't?
Roman looking guys in a single shade of green instead of the nice red leather? I'm confused... Were you going for some type of modern military connection?
