These are very nice, and I appreciate them. Especially the "Tall Book".
All of the books in Skyrim are ruined in one way or another, and all have pages falling out, new or old. If I saw a book falling apart like that in real life, I would try to rebind the pages to the book's spine. Until today I hadn't found a mod with neat, strait-edged pages. - Even though it's merely a demonstration, "The Naughty Alchemist" book looks like an interesting title. Would read/10
Edit: The book still has pages loose in the CA file. Oh well. I still like it. Great template for custom books.
Good morning, I used both meshes and compared to Bethesda that are oddly structured, yours are very precise and linear, but the book DOESN'T OPEN!!! to read. Everything I did is correct. With other meshes, everything is working fine, except for the difficulty to place front/back cover, side, etc.... With yours everything is much simpler but the book is useless for reading. Have you ever tried your mod in the real world? I noticed the texture cover block is the third one while in all other meshes it's the 1st, don't know if this matters. Any advice is appreciated. Cheers
I am trying to make a static stack of books for my mod, in addition to some notes and clutter for a desk, I've made custom objects before, but with books, i align them, (tilt them up and forward so they are standing on edge) and when i apply Transform in nifscope, the orientation changes, but i can see what i think is are the Bones. I'm assuming this is because Books are more complex then ore and ingots. Im not very literate on nifscope i'm afraid, any suggestions on what to change to get them behave?
How do you change where the CK will look for the texture?
It seems that it will only look for the single file "texturesclutterbooksBBM_BookTemplate.dds" or the "BBM_BookTemplates_n.dds" and I can't find the NiSourceTexture in NifSkope. (which after a bit of googling seemed to be where I could find/change the path)
My problem is that I want to change where it looks for the textures so that I can add multiple textures (because at this point all copies of the original "BBM_StandBook.nif" will look for that specific file mentioned above.
Thanks P.S. I'm new to NifSkope but I have the basic understanding of using other modders resources and importing them into the CK.
This is absolutely fantastic. Using your template, I just completed my first from-scratch texture today and my first-ever normal map to go with it. Too bad I seem to have screwed up the bleed and my normal map is way too light. But, at least I didn't crash the CK or the game, though I did have to crash PSP X5 via task manager to get out of my first attempt to make the normal map. Small victories.
I do wish you had provided a completed example template matching your example DDS, though. Might have helped me, and other newbs, avoid making such dumb mistakes.
Apologies for missing your post you made a week ago but I am glad the mesh proved helpful.
I am not sure if you noticed but I did include a PSD template with guide rules in with the download as well as a completed book cover with texture and normal map. Did you refer to these and found them not helpful or is there something else that you think would help make the download more useful?
It was my own stupidity, Daniel. I didn't catch on to the difference between the two masks in your template (which is fantastic), and I output the cover using the wrong mask the first time so the bleed area was being masked out even though I had filled it. What you provided is more than helpful enough for people with normal intelligence. We newbies gotta struggle a little to learn.

Middle Earth - Path of the Hobbit
I also uploaded a pic to your page. And of course endorsed (:

(I know this is an old post, but maybe someone else will have this issue.)
I have changed the recommended OBND Object Bounds for the two books based on using "Recalc Bounds" in the CK.
Tall Book : -11, -15, -3, 11, 14, 3
Standard Book : -9, -11, -1, 9, 11, 1
I have altered the suggested OBND to...
Tall Book : -11, -15, -3, 11, 15, 3
Standard Book : -9, -11, -1, 9, 11, 2

Endorsed. Heartily!

I have just released Better Journal Mesh if you want to try your hand at journals for your mod too...
