Hi everyone and sorry for not answering questions since october- i have been busy.
Instruction for installing with ModOrganizer: When it says "no game data on top level", just execute leftclick on the "<data>" folder in the Install Mods-Window, open the "SkyrimBordersDisabled" entry also by leftclick, do the same for the subfolder " Data ". Now you see the wanted esm and ini files. If you want to keep the Readmes, drag them via hold leftclick under the " Data " folder. Now you rightclick on this " Data "entry and choose the first of three option called "set data directory...". After these steps it should say "Looks good" and you are ready to Install via "OK".
This should really be in the requirements section for Blackwood Company Hall - great guild mod, sadly very console fix dependant (and the author plopped a quest out of bounds and forgot to mention, that too xD)
Installed and opened up to find all of stolstheim gone. All the quests I have finished and those in progress. The ship to take me there is gone from windhelm. The arrow marker on the map is gone. When I go to load old saves I have a warning that there are items no longer available. Not super stoked!
Just a checklist in case you missed something:
- enable SkyrimBordersDisabled.esm - make sure you copied the SkyrimBordersDisabled.ini together with the .esm - make sure the entry of the .ini is "bBorderRegionsEnabled=0" - make sure there are NO entrys saying "bBorderRegionsEnabled=1" (without the " ) in the following .inis - check the following .inis:
Skyrim.ini (in Documents\My Games\Skyrim) SkyrimCustom.ini (in Documents\My Games\Skyrim - (not everyone has this, but you should know if you have)) SkyrimPrefs.ini (in Documents\My Games\Skyrim)
- also check if there are any .inis under Skyrim\data added from another mod - maybe one of them contains the above mentioned entry - if you are using ModOrganizer make sure none of the Profile inis are in conflict - if you are using a program modifying the game settings, make sure it does not modify this entry
please do nhskill, I always recommend the mod because editing the ini isn't always a fix as MO uses it's own ini. This mod is pretty much essential, also upload a version to Beth.net haha...
This is an excellent mod to have! Thank you for offering it on the Nexus!
Couple of questions about Borders Disabled.
Will we fall through the map without "tcl" when trying to get to the volcano in Solstheim? Will we fall through the map without "tcl" when trying to get to go north pass The Chill cave jail?
I have always wondered what was in those two places and if their borders were disabled would they be safe to go without "tcl".
I don't really know if these locations are within the "save to explore zone" behind the borders, but why not testing it out?
When crossing the borders, there is detail in texture and landscape at first. The further you go behind the borders, the more decrease in detail you will have. At some point, there will be no more texture and landscape at all, just muddy LOD. If the location is whithin these - call it "detail-borders" - it may be no problem to travel there by foot and without using tcl and falling through the map. Anything beyond and in the muddy LOD zone will cause your character to fall through the map.
Cutting a long story short: You will visually notice when reaching the detail-border, behind which you will fall through the missing landscape.
And, of course, i recommend saving before exploring behind the borders!
In case you hadn't tested this yet, or someone else is looking for this too: you can explore the Red Mountain (the vulcano) in Solstheim without falling through the map!
I have everything enabled and yet the border gate at the rift tells me, You can not go that way, I even tweeked the INI file and still nothing. I also have nothing that changes the borders eitehr. I was in hopes of seeing what things looked like and playing Rigmor of Bruma. Maybe there is something I am not doing

It doesn't work for me. I get stuck somewhere in Haafingar, close to the Reach. http://imgur.com/a/uVW0A The town that you see in the picture is Dragon Bridge.
Did you try to cross the border at one of the gates, maybe in Falkreath or Rift? And please make sure that you did activate the SkyrimBordersDisabled.esm. If nothing of that helps, maybe another mod overwrites the ini entry.
I've heard this has some issues with falling through the map. Is there anywhere I can find something that navmeshes the area, or even puts something there? I'm particularly interested in the south side, in Cyrodill.
To avoid falling through the map, you can use the console-command "tcl" (without " ), which disables the calculation of physiks and collision. (Entering the command again enables it.)
There are some mods in work, that rebuild the landscpae behind the borders, for example the Beyond Skyrim project, but they will need some time to bring their projects in a state of release.
