Adding the .ini corrupted my game. Even after removing the .ini and loading a previous save doesn't fix it.

I've changed the ini file, saved it, but I still can't kill a mod added NPC... anything I'm doing wrong?

I thought this might be useful as I have the opposite issue. Because of some mod conflict (I have no idea which mod is causing this) all NPC's are non-essential. I used this thread and just changed the value from 0 to 1 to see if it fixed the issue. Still the same. Cause of this so many of the quests are broken. Attack on whiterun, on attacking the jarl instead of dropping to his knees and surrendering, he dies and I cannot proceed with the stormcloak civil war quest line.

Is there any way to make the NPCs protected, so only the player can kill them?

i was thinking the same thing. you would have to know what the code would read i.e. bEssentialsareProtected=1 or something like that???

Is There Any Way, that the Essential Killed NPCs can Respawne again?
Some Mod or something similar to Kill them but after a while they reappear?
to be able to continue doing missions.

    Another question.
If I modify the "Skyrim.ini" and there are no more Essential NPCs, their bodies will never disappear? So I can relive them when I need them?

I've removed the line, changed the 0 to 1, reinstalled my game, and everyone is still killable on every character I make. I literally cannot progress the main quest anymore because of this.

Edit: turns out I was being an idiot and editing the wrong configuration file. Sigh.

Thank you for this information. I was going to uninstall Interesting NPCs because there doesn't seem to be a likeable character amongst the group. They say anything they feel like saying and you can't kill them. Talk about narcissistic behavior.I've killed most the ones I hate listening to now. I killed Zora, the witch and that stupid cat down by Falkreath and everything in Skyrim fells better now. That mod is doing wonders for my combat stats. I never have to hear "If you're looking for the court wizard.........". At least I could kill Arissa after she knocked me over the head and stole my money. I thought about trying that mod again, but I hate thieves. Ironically, Arissa has a 'REGARD' system, think about that for a second.
