Could you please write a beginners guide to modding? I've messed up my entire skyrim by installing some stupid steam mods and nwo I have to redownload the whole stupid thing. I'd really appreciate it.

NMM v44.2 or v44.1 did say to uninstall current NMM before installing the new one. I'm guessing problems are with people who did not do that.

Actually... ALL the NMM installs say that it's recommended to do a "clean" install. For a lot of people it's just a bother to move all their mods from the NMM "install" folder somewhere else and then delete everything, double check and then install.

I am also at fault for that. Instead of moving 400gigs of mods i secure deleted them. Had a heart attack, and am just now back and re-download a TON of mods that got update in the month I was gone.

      Blessings to all. STAY HEALTHY.

NMM's messing up mods? Never knew it's doing that. Did you brought this up to the dev team?

Yes we all did. It was fixed the next day with an immediate NMM update.

I apologize for the late replies everyone. Heart surgery and recouperations.

My version of the NMM says it's Beta, so I treat it that way and expect it to provide beta release quality.

I DO think the NMM makes running mods a whole lot easier, especially removing and trouble shooting compatibility.

And thanks for posting a guide, actually anything designed to help the community is a plus in my book.

    Good on ya!

Many thanks. The modders out there are all to busy to check out my OTHER guide on how to set up basic NMM compatibility.. sorta easy actually now. SOME mods just wont work with NMM cause they go into the root directory of skyrim...IE...SKSE...ATTK...etc etc...including my own ENB autoloading bat tool. DoH.

The Versions < 0.40 are better, now, i think must NMM have a new Name: CNM: Chaotic Nexus Manager. I now deinstall Skyrim and wait 6 Months and then i test NMM.

And the true Install are Install per hand !

Rofl. It's NOT the dev teams fault for the virus attacking Nexus atm but it's STILL always safer to do a clean install.

In response..thanks to all for the compliments. As we're all USING NMM.. we're ALL part OF the beta AND dev team by posting comments and ideas on the NMM forum. While we may not DEVELOP the program our comments and suggestions go INTO the development of the program.

As for the "uninstalling completely" I had a few kids just simply delete the whole dang folder. THEN go and complain that NMM destroyed their "MODS"...
Uh.. DUH...we aren't going into that one any further. I'll just say... ROFL....

I can't really laugh too hard as instead of hitting my secure backup button last night.. i hit my secure delete button and deleted my entire skyrim test mods folder...all 500 gigs of it.

And YES.. that virus that nexus got hit with is still floating around...if you see it...PLEASE NOTIFY THE MAIN NEXUS FORUM PAGE IMMEDIATELY. Hopefully one of the admins are awake to call the server site.

The current release is SORT of working but still suggest using my guide. Apparently they decided to "strip" text files out of mods to be installed not realizing that possibly "some" (FNIS) USE text files for references. Personally I would have used an XML or INI for references...anyone who actually deletes an ingame INI file unless it isn't actually USED anymore is just plain dumb. All of us USING NMM are the "beta" testers for the thing so we can expect various problems.

That's why there's a comment section on the main page, unfortunately there's a lot of players just yellin at the dev team.

UPDATE: 21 Mar 2013 As of NMM 43 here's the latest news for those who don't actually goto the NMM "posts" page. NMM 43 was "hacked" with a virus. As of the new Steam patch I am unable to play Skyrim atm so I know not the status of the immediately released NMM 44 version.

Many thanks to ALL who actually come and read MY notes and posts.

For those of us who support the NMM team. Blessings sent. Dont forget to thank em in the forums.

NMM messed up mods in a recent version but it's easily solved simply by reinstalling NMM entirely.
