   Fwiw, in case someone has the same issue I did. The plots did not become available for several days after enabling. In my case, the gardens were already created when the mod was enabled.
   I do have issues with trigger zones not lining up well, but it is manageable..

   Small problem. I can't seem to plant any food. Only alchemy ingredients. The original garden plots also don't allow me to plant food.

   Hmm. Doesn't seem to be working for me. The new soil spots won't open, even though they show the prompt. Could this be the result of installing the mod after building the garden?

   The only thing that could possibly make this better is a craftable planter which acts as a hearthfire fertile soil.

   I've always wondered: If you take the Jarrin Root and plant it, do you get a Jarrin Root plant?

      Unfortunately, no. When you are in the menu with plantables, the Jarrin root does not show up.

      The base game version does not have Jarrin root as plantable however I have another mod which makes them plantable called more plants: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26851
