    For outfit, its easy.

-FLP v7.6+: Remove and record default Gear: Optional see foot note ***
Thru FLP dialog: 'I tell you/About Cloths/ [ 'Wear what I give you' ] -> Remove all clothing from FLP Followers inventory; then, Place everything you want that FLP Follower to wear from your Inventory
    -----------------------------
    For FLP -Auto Wardrobe: ""
1> You need to have all the items you want to give in your inventory first.
2> If you using the retranslation, go [Lets talk about you .. about wardrobe .. select location) - any location,
(FLP Usual/Default: is global default) we just want to access the outfit container.
3> you should get a message box, select the first option (0) to set the which container to use [ 0 - 127 ]
4> then select 2nd option (1) to open that container and put the items you want. 1 for each body slot.
(Note: -2 setting will Skip this location, and -1 setting will goto Default outfit : Both -1 & -2 are preset, do not change this)
5> then select 3rd option (2) to save that outfit.
6> Optional, (keep written note pad for the outfit for each container)
7> Repeat (3) - (6) as many times as you want for each outfit set. -or-
8> Also then could go to FLP MCM menu. -> Individual setting. For each followers, assign the outfit for every locations you want.. leave it at -2 if you want skip outfit change or -1 to wear ' Default Outfit ' at that location.
9> Outfit will be (automatically) transferred to the follower if they dont have them yet.
    =====================
    General Note:
***> FLP- "Keep equipping clothes you are passed from now." :
This follower's clothes setting is reset & default outfit will be set naked.
Original outfit equipment's are put into own inventory, and the
    >>outfit then would be registered to list of "Change the Outfit". <<<
Then this follower's clothes keep equipment you pass from now.
    -
When Follower in non-registered setting area, FLP uses >USUAL location< as global setting for that FLP-outfit.
    =
If Follower should at times become naked for any reasons
(Usually Wet & Cold or Frost Fall Hoods and Coats) or a 'Strip Script from another MOD that fired at random)
    > Just set up 'About Cloths>Change Outfit' < Choose any outfit, this will be new Game Default and should prevent this issue.
This new ' Default Outfit' can now be access as -1 Clothing outfit in your Wardrobe Changer

Fantastic mod that has a lot of great potential. I've been trying to reverse engineer this, Followers Goes on Trips, and Notice Boards in hope to create some sort of patch that makes followers be more dynamic and lively. My current goal is to try and make it where your follower can do radiant quests assigned by you or independently and keeps the loot from what they get. Im also trying to make your MC controlled by an AI and try to change it to more like a RTS kind of game by commanding your MC as if they were a follower.

Currently focusing on the former than the later but I hope that you could maybe give some little pointers or direction that could help. I hope I can expand on this soon!

    1. As I understand, The "-1" for a particular location means the default outfit, which I can assign or change by "Wear what I give you" dialogue.
The -2 assigned to location means the outfit won't be changed, when we're entering this location.
The values -2 and -1 shouldn't be used as an outfit set number, right?
What's the difference between the default outfit and the "Clothes for Usual"?

    2. Can I assigne different sets to the same set number for different followers? E.g. Follower A have a fur armor set appointed to set 1, and the Follower B have a leather armor apponted to set nomber 1. I have them wearing the same clothes set so far, and I don't like it.

    3. And, sorry, I couldn't hanle it with body slots. E.g. I got my follower wear a piece of underwear when Sleep (no other pieces, just underwear slot 32). He goes to bed and, put on a belt, a scarf, or other additional slots stuff (like slot 49) along with that underwear. Not as a rule, but frequently. BTW, all that additional stuff if appointed to one or another cloth set may show up with other cloth sets incongruously.

    4. The last. What kind of location may the Whiterun exteriors be: is it a City, or a Town, or a Habitation Area? Can't figure it out so far.

Thank you! The mod is of more interest to me then all the game process

1: True, -2 or -1 should not be assigned 'Clothing' as a Outfit # and 0-Zero is perfect for Naked, by just adding a peace of Jewelry for that Outfit.
      -2 means Skip this location
-1 means Use Default (Default can be starting Cloths or Clothes you FLP "CHANGED"

-> " Default Outfit" is the outfit worn by that Follower at game start - In Vanilla Games that outfit is inaccessible within inventory. ' Default outfit' can be removed from Follower with a MOD like AFT, EFF, FLP, etc. However once removed then it will be disabled for the entire game; meaning, when released/Dismissed from Management MOD Follower will go naked within 10days of game time and stay naked until rehired.
FLP is the only Management MOD that you can re-enable the Followers Default This is only done thru Dialog:
Tell Me> About Cloths> Change Cloths, and then cycle thru the Outfits to select. Now when Released/Dismissed the Follower will remain clothed.

      >Regarding cloths as/for " Usual " : Usual is a location title, as example: Location when Follower is in the Wilderness/Wilds and/or as a Global 'locational' Default for all other Locational auto-change settings not set.
      =

2: You have 128 outfit settings that you the Player can set. Outfit Example:
Outfit 0=Just a ring: I use for NPC Sleeping, Swimming (naked)
Outfit 1=Fur with Sleeves, Fur Gauntlets and Fur Boots
Outfit 2=Fur no sleeves, leather boots
      Outfit 3=Leather, L Boots, L Gauntlets
Outfit 3=Leather, L Boots, Iron Gauntlets
      Outfit 4=Iron, I Boots, I Gauntlets
      Outfit 5=Miners Clths, Shoes
      Outfit 6=Prisoner Pants
      Outfit 7=Fancy Clths, Shoes
      Outfit 8=Priest Clths, Shoes
      Outfit 9=Bartenders Outfit
      Outfit 10=Custom Pants
      Outfit 11=Custom Pants, Custom Shoes
Outfit 12=Custom Pants, Custom Shirt, Custom Shoes
      Etc.
      -----
Examples for Locations for Auto-Wardrobe Change ( # is Outfit Number):
      Usual=#4 or -1, Habitation global=#12, Inn=#11, My House=#10, Dwelling global=#12, Sleep=#0, Swim=#0
      If I use a 'Jobs Mod' or/with MHiYH : Temple=#8, Inn=#9, Castle=#4 or -1, etc
I hope this answered your question
      =

3: Agreed, this is indeed weird: Whiterun (near) exterior is considered 'Habitation/City'. Same goes in front of the Meadery. (This is Skyrim keeping the possibility for more exterior stuff (example Markets, Homes, Farms, etc)

      ============

I did not see this (Unless you are trying to make a copy)

To maintain integrity of (Enchantment or Upgraded Forged Armor) You should have those Items in your Inventory before you set FLP Clothing; then when you confirm, they will get and keep what you ask.

      * Although "copies" are fine for basic clothing (MODed or not) and unenhanced Armors thru [FLP-Clothing Settings]
If you or Follower does not have desired items already, most likely they will get ( default generic base copy,
      describe * above)

I don't like looking annoying. Just can't handle it with simple settings. May I bother you a bit more with my clothing issues?

Look, to start with, I have two followers for instance. I wish to appoint outfit sets for each of them separately. I decided to deal only with three kinds of sets: Default, Usual, and for Sleep. Here are the steps I make:

    1. "Clean" the default outfit: pick the dialogue "Keep equiping clothes you are passed from now", recieve message "This follower's setting is reset and the default outfit will be set naked... ", remove every piece of clothes from his inventory and give him a necklace;

    2. pick the dialogue "clothes for Usual", set the number to 1, pass the stuff, decide selected, the stuff goes to...;

    3. repeat the procedure for Sleeping outfit (number 3), exit the dialog. After some quick changes this follower keeps the outfit fo Usual equipped. Good.

These three steps I repeat for the second follower. Exactly the same procedure, but the numbers: num 2 for Usual, num 4 for Sleeping. Meanwhile the result is different. The second follower leave the Sleeping outfit equiped. This means we can't go out for adventures for he is wearing underwear and socks instead of armor and boots. Alright, stay home, I tell him, and call the first one for getting going. As soon as we leave the house, he equips the stockings (wich were set to Sleeping outfit), now they are clipping through the armor trousers. What should I do? I can only remove them from his inventory. That's a pity.

    Instability or not?

Understood, you are having trouble with MODed Clothing that is set for other areas other then "normal Standard Clothing Slots" for Body, Head, Feet, Hands and Jewelry.
It may be your 'Custom Clothing MOD' adding to slots you only want at a certain time.
I have no issues: Example: Custom Pants or bra, belt or cloak, skirt with panties and Shirt or Bra work fine; however,

<A> any Custom Underwear (Panty's/Bra) must be for the Pants/Shirt Slot (Or they would show both) Also please
remember, I would not give them a Full Body 'cloth' Outfit, if those Custom pants and Shirt would also be worn on top; to do this would break any Custom Clothing MOD.
      Regardless of Management MOD

<B> If the NPC had a Skirt. Then I would use a Custom Panty that was not for Pants/Skirt slot ( If I wanted that NPC to have panties with Skirt)
Please remember, I would not also give Pants that allowed those same panties to also be worn outside added pants
To do this would break any Custom Clothing MOD
      Again regardless of Management MOD

      ---------------------------------------------
You would have this issue regardless of Follower Manager MOD if you added Custom Clothing that Filled all/other unused Slots. With your new ( "scenario" )-> Would actually "Break" anyFollower outfit, from any (Custom Clothing MOD, forcing them to wear Pants with panties on the outside, Shirts with bra on the outside, no helmet or pants perhaps just socks, no jewelry or shirt just belt (etc)

If you want to make 'underwear' work, you need to use Custom Clothing MODs that override Pant/Shirt and also Clothing MODs that do not override Pants/Shirt: Then use the appropriate Slots that work for each individual Follower.
      ===========================================================================================

Skybroom, since you deigned Clothing MOD (One would again think you knew this (Scenario) would be the case)\

      >Actually, what you are asking: Is to only 'auto-use'designated Clothing Articles you choose per wardrobe setting only and >(With permanent/no exception)< (Regardless of 'underwear/optional' wear for duplicate article areas you added but not assigned)

I would not support this >(With permanent/no exception)< ; unless there was way to do this
without preventing other popular 'wanted' MODs that also (auto-use) clothing for our Followers...

As it is now, these MODs below work totally fine with (auto-use) not "Permanently locked' as you may have suggested" :

Wet & Cold: that Adds (Rain Hoods or Fur Cloaks when Cold.
      Ash's MOD: Masks and Goggles
      Bandelier MODs
      Injury MODs that use Bandages
Need MODs that add Water Skin
Frost Fall Coats and Backpack Packs
Camping MODs that add Sleeping rolls and or tools
      (ETC)

Consider (A&B) above. This is already done and can be done by the right Custom Clothing MOD "Underwear" choices.

Also try FLP About Cloths [Wear what I give you] Then just give Follower the Clothing you want it to have.
      -or-
Politely ask, the Author of Custom "Sock" MOD, to use a different Mesh/Slot approach to
suit and add "stability" to your needs

I have a problem that sometimes when I assign an article of clothing to an outfit, I get a message asking "Are you sure?", and regardless of my answer, the item disappears from both the mannequin and my inventory.  This is annoying.  I do use the retranslation for this mod on top of the main mod.

NiftyPower great question', yes this is a bug. This has also happened to me "sometimes" although rare.

When I answer -no- , the item does not disappear from the inventory with -no-

Do other Members see this when not using Retranslating MOD?

      = = = = = = ===
      General Note:
This 'event' is FLP inherent and is not related to Retranslate MOD!

The event that Nifty is referring to is when cloths will "disappear" happens when the [confirmation 'yes or no' ] pops up: During [MENU opt 1] the exchange of Cloths from Player to Mannequin/Followers Inventory.

NORMALLY we would never see this or any [Confirmation request] in FLP when we "exchange Cloths from Player to Mannequin/Followers Inventory" when using [MENU opt 1]

However, rarely we do get this " [confirmation request] at the exchange of Cloths from Player to Mannequin/Followers Inventory". You can simulate this if you try with Vanilla or Moded Clothing:
This can happen when you double click on a Clothing Item or click very fast between your Item choices

If a Player should get this rare and unusual [Confirmation request] :
'Confirm Yes' at that screen you will loose that Item, then and there.
If 'Confirm No' and back out to menu then you are fine

      You needed confirmation on this?

I get it all the time.

It seems to happen randomly, sometimes in the middle of a playthrough with many NPC's dressed, sometime with practically ever NPC, and sometimes with just one NPC managed by FLP, and the very first outfit setup.

If the systems is "stuck" between clothing options changes, I will sometimes CTD as well.

I will make sure to say "No", and exit if I can.

If you have the Injury Kit and number the use for this outfit: Bloody Rags body, Head, Foot and Hand/Arm Bandage to 100 for (Convalescences at: Home, Temple, Healer)
Then you just change that Wardrobe Cloths Location to 100 thru Dialog or MCM/FLP/Individual [Clothing]

You can add bandages for varying degrees if injury as well for even more immersion also see:

Regarding -Auto- Outfits: FLP afaik, has the best Wardrobe Change on the Nexus

-EDIT for FLP v7.6+: First remove default Gear:
Thru FLP dialog: 'I tell you/About Cloths/ [ 'Wear what I give you' ] -> Remove all clothing from FLP Followers inventory; then, Place everything you want that FLP Follower to wear from your Inventory
    ---------------------------
    Uses only + 1 thru 127
-2 : Remains FLP Ignore this outfit for that location.
-1 : That FLP Follower's Default outfit. Default outfit can be selected with "Change the outfit" dialogue
0 : for swimming or sleeping naked (0) Outfit number, then (1) add a Jewelry and no Clothing. (2) Confirm.)
    Also see (A) See below).
100 :I use for the Complete Injury Set. (immersive change on injured NPC)
    - - - - -

-> With a pad, please Note the Clothing Number and Outfit. <- (* Please review General Note )

With that said "1 thru 100+. Lets keep it simple at first.

Your PC must have the Cloths, Armor and Weapons in PC inventory to give to that NPC.
    - - -
    For Example (iNPC Redgaurd Gore)
    Thru dialog
    -(A)
Sometimes: First you may have to remove any default outfit:
Either by [change outfit] or [Wear What I give you] With the result 'so the Follower is naked'.

-NEW- Just use [I tell you] / [About Cloths] / [ Wear what I give you]
-^- In this way you can get that Followers Custom Outfit and Follower could remain Naked when set with Jewelry or give/set Cloths
Note: When doing so; that Followers default is now "Naked" -> Remember to before any permeant "Dismissal" from FLP - you should redress that 'changed Default', otherwise that "dismissed" Follower may become naked

-(B): [What you Got] take Cloths/Armor and Weapons from NPC.
Ex: TAKE Items from ( Gore has: Cloth Tunic, Iron Armor and with Boots, Bracer and Weapons )
    - -
-(C): [tell you] / [Cloths] / [Habitation] / [Global Habitation]

You will be presented with several numeric options:
Press option 0 (Zero) =To set Clothing Number= Please hit +1 button to stop at a desired number.
For example set Outfit Number at one.
Hit TAB = You will then again be presented with same several numeric options:

Then Press option 1 =to transfer Clothing and Gear to that NPC= Transferred Cloth Tunic, Boots and a Dagger , Hit TAB = You will then again be presented with same several numeric options:

Then Press option 2 =to Confirm= Will ask to transfer the Gear from PC to NPC hit YES
That's it and after you do this a few times, it can be done in only a few seconds

Now that FLP Clothing Number 1= is a Tunic, Boots and Dagger. (Please note this in Pad for Clothing (1)
To set any other Clothing Change area with Gore or any NPC (1) will always be Tunic, Boots and Dagger. (until you reset)

    Lets go to another example:

Habitation is already set. Lets keep the same thing for Dwellings:
D: [tell you] / [Cloths] / [Dwellings] / [Global Dwellings] or specific.
Press option 0 (Zero) =To set Clothing Number= Please hit +1 button to 1 (one) , Hit TAB
Then Press option 2 =to Confirm= Will ask to transfer the Gear from PC to NPC hit YES
There is no need for numeric option 1 since Gear was already set for: Clothing (1)
    - - - - -
-> Now with a few Outfits assigned to a 'Clothing Number', please open MCM FLP/ [Individual Setting]
Thru here you can also easily arrange when and where your FLP Follower will change outfits
Note: Assigned Outfit Numbers- can be used in any Location and by any Follower

Please experiment with above - it will become easy after a few
    = = = =

Please Note: " FLP Usual outfit"- is triggered when NPC/PC is in Wilderness -
Please repeat above to set -FLP Usual- add Armor, Boots, Gauntlet and a Helmet.
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
There are other ways of doing this, I have found this simplest for me.

    I arrange it like this:
    1 to 50 = For follower Clothing
51 to 100 for Followers Armor
    101 to 120 For my/PC Clothing
    121 to 127 For my/PC Armor.

Thru the coarse of the Game I will assign Clothing and Armor to Hired Followers: My Example -

Gore (Warrior) is My first Follower:
Outfit 1 = Hammerfell outfit, Boots, Dagger
Outfit 51 = Iron Amor, Boots, Shield, Gantlets and 1h or 2h Weapon (For FLP Usual)

Hjoromur (Farmer) is my Second Follower: (also set as FLP early Healer)
Outfit 2= Common Cloths, Shoes, Dagger
Outfit 52= Hide Armor, Boots, Bracers and Bow with many arrows, Dagger (For FLP Usual)

Larkspur (Thief) is My Third Follower:
Outfit 3= MODed Thief Outfit, Dagger
Outfit 53= Leather Armor, Boots, Bracers and Weapon Dual (For FLP Usual)

Jenessa (Assassin) is my Forth Follower:
Outfit 4 = Dark Common Cloths, Necro Boots, Dagger
Outfit 54 = Shrouded Assassins Armor and Bow, Arrows, duel Weapon (For FLP Usual)

I do not setup Combat Clothing Change for most Followers.

    ETC.

Note: Assigned Outfit Numbers- can be used in any Location and by any Follower
    - - - - - - -
Outfit 101 thru 120 is for me, my Player Character (PC) clothing.

Outfit 121 thru 127 are for my (PC) Armor Changes.

You Could set for example a Combat Clothing Numbered Option.
However, I have not had a need. Unless I wanted to set up a forced equipped Weapon change or want a deferent inchanted wilderness Outfit to be added when actually - in Combat-

    Using:

-2 : Remains FLP Ignore this outfit for that location.
0 : for swimming or sleeping naked (* Need to Change Cloths to Naked First (A) See Above ).

100 :I use for the Complete Injury Set MOD. (immersive change on injured NPC)

    = = = = = = = = =
    General Note:
The only drawback for a Clothing (data base), is how well Skyrim retains info integrity in a (data base) after any Load Order Change has been made.
For example Vilja; as advanced as her Outfit Changes are - can and are Corrupted by our Load Order Changes, when we add or change MODs...

I believe OldC has currently found a better (non-corruptible) method.
A small note pad is worth it for me.

    = = = = = = = = =
    General Note: NPC is Naked

-Only If- NPC after release from FLP NPC becomes Naked:

Please see (A) above and cycle thru any of the FLP Clothing or Armor Outfits; hit [TAB] Key to select a new persistent outfit.

    -NOW- even Better: Use About Cloths/ [Wear what I give you] ;

Thanks very much, this is what i was looking for, you deserve a clap in your shoulders, or two and even three

BTW, How do you manage to keep safe your personal different outfits in you inventory, i mean, to avoid to sell them by mistake, i tried Jaxsonz Favorites, new version seems not to be working and earlier version have the risk of letting item "stuck" in you inventory due at that the way he uses to protect favorites is making favorites items as quest items... and when you have two outfits and a couple of armours combat gear + a ton of items to sell.... it becomes kinnda of cumbersome

One thing more, What mod is that you use for number 100 (immersive change on injured NPC), I don't find it

Regarding City Location Trigger = Urban Global - Town, settlement or Village Outfits- Each can be individually set.

Regarding FLP Usual Outfit. Is Triggered when in Wilderness. Combat has been fine just from Usual setting!

Please note: Some Members are also using FLP Usual as a default/Full Global setting-
However, this can be unreliable a times ( as the only Locations setting )
If so, Follower may wear something other, when Follower leaves Wilderness with no new Trigger from (at -2) set for that new Loacation:
Example, loot from copses in inventory, loot carried for PC in there inventory, Nakedness, Etc.
    '*'See recommendation'*'

    - '*' When using FLP Wardrobe, it is recommended to have at least these 3 set:
-FLP Usual = Triggered in Wilderness.
-FLP Urban Global = Triggered in populated areas.
-FLP Dwelling Global = Triggered in Dwellings.
The many other individual Locational Outfit options can also be set and will override above 3 Global's.
    Example:
Dwelling Global = Green Common Cloths, Work Boots
Dwelling Inn = Blue Cloths, Fancy boots
Dwelling Castle = Fine Cloths, fur shoes
Temple = Plane Robes, Monk boots
My House = Black Robe, and no boots

Notes on reserved FLP Clothing numbers:
(-2)= Used to skip Outfit change in that Location.
(-1)= Wear Default "Starting Outfit or '*' below, for that Location

Example to be Naked when Sleeping and/or Swimming.
    Tell you/about Cloths/ [Swimming] or [Sleeping] :
[0]= <100> set your new Clothing Number, [1]= Jewelry with no Cloths transferred, [2] Confirm.
This is also how all other Locations are done; although use a different Clothing Number and have Cloths to transfer
Keep a note of all your Clothing Numbers with an Outfit for reference.

'*' Should also have there Skyrim Default outfit available or at least set thru:
Dialog- Tell you/About Cloths/Change Cloths = This will Replace Skyrim Startig Default Outfit

    For outfit, its easy.
1> You need to have all the items you want to give in your inventory first.
2> If you using the retranslation, go [Lets talk about you .. about wardrobe .. select location) - any location, doesnt matter really, we just want to access the outfit container.
3> you should get a message box, select the first option (0) to set the which container to use [ 0 - 127 ]
4> then select 2nd option (1) to open that container and put the items you want. 1 for each body slot.
5> then select 3rd option (2) to save that outfit.
6> Optional, (keep note of the outfit for each container)
7> Repeat (3) - (6) as many times as you want for each outfit set.
8> Now go to FLP MCM menu. -> Individual setting. For each followers, assign the outfit for every locations you want.. leave it at -2 if you want them to keep their default outfit.
9> Outfit will be transferred to the follower if they dont have them yet.
