I just wanted a simple mod for tougher dragons that show up less often, and this does exactly that. Thank you!

I just finished updating another mod i have, so will be working on this again at the weekend hopefully. I planned to add the ability to let you configure how much extra health a dragon gets, per dragon type. i.e if you set black dragons to 700 extra health then all black and named dragons get 700 extra health, then another option for all blood dragons, all frost dragon e.t.c. First i just need to work out all the coding for the MCM menu for it. Hopefully it will be possible enough Also wanna add the option to change the minimum amount of souls recieved and minimum amount of days between dragons, that will be easier.

Getting x1-3 souls from dragons even after uninstalling. I don't really like that.

Did you read the un-install guide? Please make sure to delete the MQKillDragon.pex file from your scripts folder

Edit: While i'm saying that, Remove the WIFunctions.pex file too. It contorls the random time between dragon spawns.

There's no such files in my scripts folder, and I used NMM to install and uninstall the mod.

Edit: Btw, the reason why I uninstalled your mod is that it seems to not work alongside Resilient Dragons after all (at one point the dragons actually seemed to become weaker in comparison to previous, and after uninstalling they seem more durable again). Nothing really against this, and having massive reserves of souls is not much of an issue for me (playing on Master difficulty with SkyRe so it's challenging enough even when using souls for perks and attributes). But you could double-check that your mod doesn't leave any permanent after-effect on saves or anything like that.

Is it always the same amount of souls you recieve? If so then i have an idea about what is causing it. It's possible that the randomizer's last generatered value for the souls has been left as a permanent value after un-installing. This would be easy to fix by simply adding an un-install button to the MCM menu i was about to add to reset the value back to 1. Of course you would have to install it again, then hit the un-install button then un-install it normally.Sorry bout that, never foresaw that the value would stick after un-installing. Will get right on the un-install button.

O.k, been through the script and it should reset to 1. Looking over your reply though, did you remember to replace the script with the old MQKIllDragon.pex? (Skyrim will keep my script loaded in the savegame until you do) Dragonborn added an updated version to allow Miraak to steal dragon souls. Don't worry if you forgot to back up the old version, get steam to verify local content and it will replace the file that's missing or you can generate a new .pex file using the .psc file for Dragonborn.

Edit: There's an option in the new MCM i should get uploaded today that will allow you to change it to only give 1 soul everytime anyway.

I'm not entirely sure but it seems likely that I'm receiving a fixed 3 souls out of each dragon. There's no telling really as I rarely access the shout magic menu atm as I've only two words of power left to unlock. I'll try your new version with MCM, and sort it above Resilient Dragons in load order and see if it works.

O.k, just remember to set the max souls to 1 in MCM before un-installing and that will prevent you getting more than one soul even if my script does persist in you savegame. I'll keep looking to check if i can do anything to prevent it.

It seems to be working now as intended. I think I'm going to keep using this alongside my other dragon mods, both for future characters and to adjust frequency of respawning dragons. Thanks for your help and the mod.

If you're going to work on this further, I'd like to see more use for MCM, perhaps to tweak the number of souls acquired even more accurately or add different formulas to introduce balanced variety to souls (perhaps calculate PC's and dragon's level difference - if the dragon is lower in level, only one soul or even no soul absorbed).

Maybe possible about the level differences. Still learning to use the MCM menus so i'll introduce what i can.

Good to see an alternative to DD and MD. I will say that I disagree with the multiple souls mechanic. It's already to easy to unlock any shout you want. Better gaming if you need to really consider where and on what you spend your souls.

It always helps to look into other mods before you make one. Deadly Dragons is certainly far more attractive than this particular mod, does not require Dragonborn and I probably can't run this mod alongside it.

<div class="sibling-post"><i>In response to post <a href="?showtopic=930686&p=7485067">#7485067</a>. </i></div>eadly Dragons does plenty of other things that may be undesirable, especially if you play on higher difficulties or with other modifications that adjust combat. Personally, I find vanilla+SkyRe+Resilient Dragons+Bellyaches new dragons (plus Dragon Lords for those super long epic fights) perfectly balanced, varied and challenging for my game. In my experience, Deadly Dragons makes game-breakingly hard (NPCs dying way fast, making it impossible to use immersive mods like Battle Fatigue, etc.), and it's not compatible with everything either.

In case you're not familiar with Resilient Dragons, it not only makes dragons tougher, but also uniquely makes them take far less damage from attacks made by NPCs. Similiarly, I consider the possibilty to absorb multiple souls from a single dragon this mod's notable feature (AFAIK, there's no such implementations so far or they provide only fixed adjustment of number of souls given). Tougher Dragons only added to that epic experience where every dragon takes a considerable effort to defeat without them annihilating everything else besides the player character.

And having a DLC requirement (besides Hearthfire) is by no means a downside. It's simply silly to play without Dawnguard, Dragonborn, official or unofficial patches.

I make mods to suit my own tastes, then i release them. I don't give a monkeys if only 1 person downloads and uses it, i'm not competing. I'm only letting people try the mods i make.

Wow, that's actually really neat. Finally a way to gain more dragon souls in a lore friendly way. I'm gonna try if this can be run beside Resilient Dragons.

Another mod i don't use, so i have no idea myself. If you got TESVEdit then it can tell you if i modified the same settings as it did. The random souls and random spawn rates are both controlled by the scripts so they should run fine.

Getting multiple souls from one dragon isn't lore friendly.

O.k sems the mqkilldragon.pex is interfering with the soul absorbtion process somehow, you'll know its affecting you if the dragon doesn't disintergrate after death. To fix it for now, just delete the mqkilldragon.pex to make the death animation happen properly, but you'll only get one soul. Bugger knows what went wrong, in the process of fixing it.

Seeing as i rarely get more than 40 dragon in an entire playthrough for a character i thought about giving each type of dragon more souls to represent their power. Unfortunately this is a lot of scripting work, so i made it random for all dragons
