Looks nice. They are fantasy vikinghelms, i get that, but the white horns are still too white imo. The darker horns on one of the helms look great though. I might alter that whiteness myself, just for my own use. Thanks for nice looking helms.
Mod author: The other comments are correct, vikings DIDN'T have horns on their helmets. It's actually proven by all professional historians that they didn't. The only viking helmets that may have had horns were ceremonial helmets, not practical battle helmets. Those ceremonial helmets, along with the Wagner plays, is what has made most people mistakenly believe that warriors had horns as well. And no, I'm not trolling, I'm just pointing out historical FACT, rather than myth.
There has only been ONE Viking helmet ever discovered. Whether or not Viking helmets ever had horns or wings is inconclusive due to LACK of evidence. ONE helmet does not evidence make.
Not true, There has been 3 discoveries. Besides, from evert carving and stories found, It's been seen that vikings used simple helmets, nothing with horns.
There has only been 1 helmet from the Viking Age ever found. It is exactly similar to the helmets found from the Vendel Period (a century or two before the Viking Age). There have never been any Scandinavian helmets, ceremonial helmets or not, found with horns or attached decorations of any kind. The only "Horned Helmets" of Northern Europe found before the Medieval Period are bronze age helmets with curved horns on the front, pointing upward vertically (the horns are very thin and also made out of bronze, they are not pointy either, they are worm-shaped). That, and the Waterloo helmet, which is a small Celtic (not Germanic/nordic) helmet with cone-shaped bronze horns. It is a tiny helmet though, and likely belonged to a statue rather than a warrior.
Thing is: people are arguing if Vikings did or did not have horns at their helmets. It is true: they don't. But let's face it: it is Skyrim! In skyrim the warriors can have dragonwings with an fire enchantment on their helmets if they want to. Yes the title of this mod is pointless when it comes to history of our world, but the idea is lorefriendly to the game itself. And that is all that matters. Nice mod, dude.
The Title actually point to our history, cuz in skyrim doesn't have any vikings, the vikings are a faction of norse mans of our history. The most close of vikings that we have in game is the stormcloaks and the companions.
Right. So it is not all that realistic. But on the other hand you are flinging fireballs and murderlizing dragons. How realistic do you really want it?
You're all wrong, no the Vikings did not have horns on their helmets.
It was the "Christians" that put horns on the Vikings to demonize them. England was making an attempt to bring Christianity, to the barbarians of the north. The barbarians didn't like it and would raid a few monasteries and kill a few monks and priests. Of course the church didn't like it, think of it as propaganda, there are actually rock carvings, wood carvings, and drawings, almost all to be found with in church's and monasteries along English coastlines the Vikings visited.
Guys real history isn't hard to find, just take the time. You might be amazed.
Hate to break it to you but, you're also wrong. The idea of horned helmets was popularized by opera in the 19th century. Those "rock carvings" are actually of pagan origins and depict the gods, namely Odin. Also there has been evidence of horned helmets in Denmark which were used for ceremonial purposes.
I think these are great. For the people moaning about genuine Vikings, please remember that this is a FANTASY game - it's not real whatever you spend your time doing on it, and in case you think that magic spells really exist, see Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy for further details...
I laughed my ass of then i saw them xD the vikings did only use the horned helmets for funerals and rituals.. the horns is a thing that hollywood have added.. it is not real.
There has only been one helmet found with horns and that was a ritual helmet from early bronze age and ugly as hell, all other helmets that's been found has never had horns on them since it makes the helmet weaker and heavier becaus you have to work the horns in there for them not to fall off right away. So no they never had horned helmets for battle or normal use and there is enough evidence to prove they never had horned helmets apart from that ''one'' ritual helmet.
