I think this mod no longer works as I intended. Bethesda made some changes to Aela's dialogues as part of Dawnguard, after I created this mod, and as far as I can tell, this mod no longer does what it's supposed to do. It was iffy even when I made it.
To get around this aggravation, I've uploaded an optional plugin that I've been using for myself for a couple of months. Rather than screwing around with quest priorities and dialogues, it just simply enables the totems and leaves it at that. They'll be available from the moment you first enter the Underforge.
Note: Running the optional plugin renders the main plugin unnecessary. Just remove it if you use the optional.
Aela might or might not still offer the quests with the same screwed up randomness that's always been the case. The quests should complete as normal, regardless of this plugin. Let me know if it seems to be causing any issue there.
This isn't an ideal solution, and is a little cheaty, but it works. The person at Bethesda who made this quest was either terrible at quest design or terrible at quest scripting. Possibly both. Either way, that person did a TERRIBLE job and this quest has never worked like it's supposed to.
"totems already enabled" optional mod works for current 1.6 version of skyrim (ae), just downloaded it for the first time today. companions none main quests have been just a bugfest for me which is why i just used the already enabled mod and just be done with it. For some reason Turnins not working on radiant quests, temp followers just breaking and reverting to default state and not allowing quest to be done, temp follower pathing being ass (this only for the companions during a "temp" follower quest, normal followers and asking the companions to follow you work perfectly fine otherwise. and i have no mods altering the companions or their related quests. up until now. so thank you for this
You are god among mere mortals, I always had problem with this quest, and now since Enai Werebear mod came out I was angry I couldn't play it properly, with this, I no longer need to pull my hair out, thank you sincerely.
Such a simple mod and yet.. helps so much ! I was getting very frustrated trying possible solutions in game.. none worked (and I didn't want to mess with console commands) then this legend solves it. Endorsed !
Thank you so freaking much for this mod! Works like a charm, and I can finally get those freaking totems without having to do hundreds of animal exterminations. Will endorse as soon as I am able to.
Just an FYI - Getting the quest can be helped by two things. The main one, is that you need to have the heads of the glemoril witches in your inventory when you go to ask her for the quest. She will still give an animal extermination quest in between all three of them. Failing that, do a quest for Vilkas and Farkas at least once. Failing that, give this mod a try!
This worked fine for me. This was always so frustrating without the mod, especially if you want these totems if you're a bit ocd. Idk why it was such a big deal to me, I don't even play that much as a werewolf.
I think I might not have licked this problem after all. I just had to do the exit-reenter thing with a new character before she would give me the quest, even with the mod active. Dammit Bethesda.
Anybody else having trouble or is it working fine? This isn't the easiest thing to test for, because of all the conditions and related quests that have to be done first.
