Heya, just a heads-up to other players & to the mod author that I had a serious problem with this mod. I thought I had savegame bloat, as scripts were taking forever to run--ex. werewolf transformation, werewolf feed, soulgem fills and learning Word Wall words all took upwards of 20 seconds. Cleaning savegames did not work so I checked my Papyrus logs, and one of them was almost two GB (and another 1 GB) of messages like this:
etc. Disabling the mod, then cleaning the save, immediately restored script speeds and functionality. I've no idea what this is or why it was doing this, but in case it's important!
NOTE; most of these steps are unnecessary for this mod(see my reply below), but I'll just leave it like this so people get some idea on how to convert most mods to se.
Anyway, I got it working perfectly on SE, the same way as le. Everything including the MCM works. You'll need this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23316, and SSE creation kit(install with bethesda launcher, I also recommend sse creationkit fixes), and of course, skse64 and skyui for SE. Here's what you should do.
1.Manually download and extract this mod somewhere (Or simply download through mod manager, install AND enable it like any other mod IF you use mo2)
2.Close your mod manager, open cathedral assets optimizer(CAO)
3.Set profile to "SSE" in CAO
4.Select "Open directory", navigate to where you have extracted the files from this mod archive, and press "Select folder", for example, if you already installed and enabled it using MO2, the path should be something like this "Mo2 base directory/mods/Command Dragon - Ultimate Dragon Riding", it's in your mo2 mods folder in that case.
5.Under the "BSA" section in CAO, tick everything.
6.Under the "Meshes" section, tick "Process meshes", "Full optimization", "Always process headparts", and "Resave meshes"
8.Under the "Animations" section, tick "Necessary Optimization"
9.(Skip this step if you installed it through mo2) When it's done, close CAO. Go to where you have extracted this mod archive, right click the extracted folder, 7zip, Add to archive, press "ok"(or the way you do it with winrar, etc). After that, install that archive into Vortex or NMM and enable it (NMM is outdated, highly recommend vortex instead)
10. (Follow this step if you installed it through MO2) Close CAO when it's done, open mo2.
11.After installing creation kit for se, launch it. (If you use MO2, launch creation kit through mo2) watch this video on how to convert the esp file to form 44. (If you use mo2, watch the video from around 1:40-3:10, that's all) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_3KxaUxCoI
12. Run LOOT, then run FNIS/Nemesis, then launch the game using skse64_loader.exe and see if it works. (Run all these tools EXCEPT CAO through mo2 if you use mo2)
The MCM should pop up after you load a save, depending on your Load order, this may take a while, so i say wait for about 10 minutes tops before thinking something went wrong. If there is no MCM at all, try running skse64loader as admin. That's all you gotta do. There are most likely unnecessary steps here, but this is what I did and everything is working flawlessly.
Tried it, it worked. But does this method work on most mods...say much bigger mods like...Pirates of Skyrim - The Northern Cardinal under the black flag mod? Random question...I know.
Oof, now that I look inside the bsa of this mod there aren't any meshes or textures, it's just scripts. So, simply resaving the plugin in CK should be enough(it's probably not even really necessary, but it's always better to do so), and the CAO steps are unnecessary for this mod, no harm done if you did all of this though, CAO will ignore the unnecessary steps.
But to answer your question, it probably will, and according to the comments on the mod it looks like some people have already done it. Try and find out. You should definitely run CAO on that mod though, looking at the mod files it has many meshes and textures.
I've converted many le mods for se using these 2 tools for personal use, and never had any issues with them. this method should work for most mods, but you may have to tweak some CAO settings yourself depending on the mod. In many cases "Necessary optimization" should be enough for meshes instead of full optimization though. And iirc there's a guide for using CAO as well, maybe on the modpage.
I tried doing all that but when i tried to convert the plugin (NorthernCardinal.esp in this case) it also automatically checked the master files, this message came up:
"Multiple master files selected for load. Load operation aborted."
That used to happen to me as well before I installed SSE creationkit fixes, and this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/41195. You can use both, at least one of them must've fixed it cause I don't get that message anymore. I highly recommend you get sse creationkit fixes at least. It even adds a "search" function for plugins when you open data, very useful especially for large load orders. The multiple master message was actually the reason why I got the fixes.
Missing permissions from the original mod page, or the mod author. I've messaged him/her about it about 5 months ago but no response yet. Some people have posted their ports before without getting permission but they got deleted.
Forgot to mention this before, but you guys might want to check this one out instead if you use SE/AE. Intuitive Dragon Ride Control I've been using that one instead for a while now.
I would certainly donate for a rule to stop people from posting about SE ports in the LE section. It is a nuisance having to sift through all the useless comments when you are looking for feedback pertinent to the mod.
if the info was written in the mod itself that'd be nice. i cant find where it says if this mod works from the start or if i have to get the vanilla Bend Will shout. or if its another shout.
Sorry, I've ported it on SSE. I've installed only deadly dragon Immersive dragon and serio's, it work well all, only forward, right and left in hovering mode, doesn't work. I've tryed to reinstall, to reset mod from MCM. Nothing. Do you suggest me another solution?
I think to know what is problem. It is in savegame. I've used Fallrim tools to clean savegame form instances and sscript I don't use, so command dragon doesn't work, neither if I reinstall it.
If I load a savegame before I use Resaver, It works well. I'm SE user.
This is the best mod for flying dragons. I always wanted a mod that "felt" like commanding a powerful creature with a will of its own. The delay, as well as the fact that it uses the original flying patterns, make it feel like you are actually flying a dragon, telling it where to go. It is unwieldy, as it should be. Unlike other mods that have unnatural movement, instant feedback and animations that do not alternate when diving or manoeuvring in general.
